the whole experience is a bit novel, probably thanks to the controller and tiny dancer sized discs
are there any good horror games for the gamecube that aren't resident evil games or eternal darkness? i don't know but this horror niche is fun on this console
and don't say luigi's mansion that's a cool game but don't be cheeky

The GameCube has more interesting deep cuts than Ninty's previous console, that's for sure. And weird ports. Dreamcast and PS1 ports on the GC? Weird but cool. I got a lot of milage out of Resident Evil 3 on the GC.

It's kind of weird that they sold previous gen games on the GC, especially at a time where the new gen made the previous one look like shit. I mean, they're good games but they probably didn't sell that many copies because of that.

I think it was a mix of lacking backwards compatibility and trying to get Nintendo fans onboard for franchises that missed the N64 (ie most of them). The latter reason at least is why the PlayStation REs got ported.

That makes sense but why didn't they also port them to the OG Xbox?

It was a newcomer and it also flopped in Japan.

cube was actually the first 6th gen console I dived into when I got back into consoles 10 years ago. I got into Wii modding and had a ton of fun with the Wii games, but the gamecube games did nothing for me. Turns out I barely played my cube as a kid for a good reason.

Sadly no, I wondered that many times too. Killer7 has a lot of horror vibes so you can try that. Also Luigi's Mansion is a Resident Evil game for kids and I found that amazing, love that little game

In a way, Nintendo really went hard trying to get the mature audience on board with the GameCube by securing itself exclusives like Twin Snakes, REmake, RE0 and (timed) RE4. Yeah, half of them didn't turn out that great but I respect the attempt.

I recently got around to hacking my Wii and filling it up with GC and Wii games. I bought a 1TB drive and quickly found out that was insane overkill. These people that put every single title on there are insane. I felt this sense of emptiness as I went through the complete ISO set lists, grabbing the games that were worth playing and realizing I knew them all already. That's not to say that I've played most or even a majority of them, but it was disappointing to see there wasn't much surprise of finding something new in there.
Anyway, with that said, there's still something very endearing about this time for me. The GC and GBA era has a lot of nostalgia for me, even though I didn't personally own a GC until like 2005 or '06. I'm not sure what it is. It's probably just me remembering how mysterious the GC felt before I had one, completely unable to see even a fraction of something like Animal Crossing's content when my only chances to explore that world was on the weekend at my friend's house. Games like that and Pikmin dominate my impression of the system, and both have unique and alluring sense of wonder about them.

Geist, Second Sight are kind of horror games. The coolest thing I've realized lately is that Gamecube is the best way to play Multiplats that were released for it thanks to the Xbox's fuzzy shit video signal compared to the Wii's perfect component output.

A handful of games like the Splinter Cell series are better on Xbox because they actually make use of the the additional power of the Xbox.

Used to be my least favorite console (of the ones I owned), but after revisiting it decades later it has become my favorite and the only one I have hooked up anymore.

Combined with a Gameboy player, it’s the ultimate retro console. You get the best of gen 6, plus the best of NES, SNES, and even a lot of top tier PS1 games

Geist is kind of a horror game, I guess, though I never played it. Is that a good game?
