I want to become slightly less of a recluse and spend some time outside the house at the local game store. From the website it seems they have game nights for magic, yugioh, pokemon, and flesh and blood. Which one of these is most reasonable to get into?

    Literally none of them.

Just go for whatever community seems like the most tolerable to be around at that store. LGS goers can range the spectrum from annoying trannies to unwashed autists, so scout events out before committing to a game night there.

Honestly TCG is probably the worst one to pick as a game for a stable social/financial life; unless you do a draft only or a cube thing.

How about we don't do that ever again?

I have been playing magic for years and I still can’t draft for shit. Limited Constructed is where it’s at. Start mtg with an opening weekend or prerelease weekend.

I haven't played either in like 5 years, but from when I did, yugioh had an average playerbase of like 10-15 year olds, and the cards were getting beyond moronic. From what people I know that still play have said, most of the game now is who can win on turn 1 after spending 15 minutes drawing their entire deck.
Magic has also gotten moronic, but not that bad. Expect to either hope you get people chill enough to let you print out your own cards, or spend your bank account on a deck to be competitive

And play draft at Friday night Magic. I never liked draft though. I played modern almost exclusively because it gives you more creative freedom to make fun decks with a fricking massive library of cards to pick from.

I hear WoTC are making big changes that are shaking things up.

    >Reasonable
PokeTCG if you don't mind playing a literal children's game. The prices for this are the lowest between the big 3, decks selling for about $30-70 if you're not going for the rarity bumps. The mechanics are also extremely easy to follow

    >Satisfying
I would say YGO in this regard. It's a harder game to get into, but feels really good when you master it.

Funnily enough I would have to say Pokemon, Yugioh is a mess rules-wise and Magic is a mess business-wise and probably rules-wise too let's be real, never heard of Flesh and Blood but if it's not a slog to play through it's probably less embarrassing to jump into than the Pikachu game.

Do they have any other options?
Of them Pokemon is ironically the least bad.
Magic is currently shutting itself hard and Hasbro are wringing WotC for all they're worth. I'd advise you to stay away from them on the grounds of not supporting shitty business practices alone.
Yu-Gi-Oh is in a T0 meta (unless Konami has fixed it in the last week or so) and has been power creeped to hell. At a competitive level the game is often P1 establishes as many negates as they can, P2 tries to play through the negates to end with any kind of board that deals with P1.
FaB is trying to be MTG 2.0 and has obscene pull rates on some cards (there are rarities whose pull rates are less than 1/case). They also do the Yu-Gi-Oh thing of putting generic staples at super high rarity.
Pokemon is just kind of meh, but as far as I know there's nothing egregiously wrong.

no, right now the meta decks will grind you down. Not negate, negates heavy decks is dependet on formats.

I'll admit I don't pay too much attention to the Yu-Gi-Oh meta. Is ishizu/tearelaments still the top deck? The finals I saw with that was pretty much just 3 games that had someone concede on turn 1.

yup, and judging from ocg itll be for quite a while. Not tier zero but very much tier one. That said, play vanguard white man. It is the better yugioh

            >That said, play vanguard white man.
I only hear horror stories from the ex-vanguard player I know.
            >It is the better yugioh
You'll have to try better than that, I've taken the /ACG/ pill.

It's currently full power in the TCG because it was too early to hit them on the banlist, and in the OCG it persisted because while they gutted most of the named Tearlament cards, they left most of the Ishizu engine untouched. Nothing they do to Tearlament will matter if they don't hit the Ishizu engine, it's a package deal since they're functionally highly similar cards and make the deck extremely consistent. They also get splashed into just about anything that has GY effects, so it's not as though their power is limited to Tearlament decks (look up VIN and VIM decks)

Despite it's numerous flaws MTG is still the best widely played TCG, primarily due to it having the widest variety of gameplay formats, and having far and away the best draft/limited gameplay of any of them.
All of them will have some degree of artists and undesirables of course.

Pokemon is fun and straightforward. and due to powercreep (usually a bad thing) you can just buy whatever the latest thing you can get your hands on and it's good

      Anonymous

Pokemon is in an interesting spot for power creep. Unlike most games Pokemon can effectively increase player health pools by increasing Pokemon HP. So as long as they don't power creep effects, they can power creep for ever, because a card that does 1,000 damage sucks then Pokemon have 100,000 HP. But if Yu-Gi-Oh or Magic pushes their numbers it's a permanent bump to the power level of the game.

It still has the annoying side effect of making your older cards suck, but at least it's not a race to the bottom of ever-increasing damage vs a perpetually fixed health pool like so many other TCGs. More games should take note of this design.

Skarmory and Blissy EX Maxx Overdrive
        2500 HP, Basic
EX Maxx Overdrive (When this Pokemon is knocked out, your opponent takes 7 Prize cards)
Pokemon Power: Oblivious: Your opponent can't play Trainer cards
(Colorless) Milk Drink: Remove all damage counters from all your Pokemon.
(Steel) (Steel) Spike Swarm: For the rest of the game, whenever your opponent switches Pokemon, put 60 damage counters on it. Choose 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon and switch it with his or her Active Pokémon.

I haven't played Pokemon for 20 years but this is more or less the current state of the game, yeah?

the most powerful card in the game is almost a comedic joke. it's a basic card that's three legendaries on the one card, one move can only be done once per duel, but it gives a permanent effect for the rest of your match where your attacks do more damage, and yeah you have one other move which does a lot of damage, it does more now, lel

play vanguard, the starter decks are cheap and last very long. Plus the mechanics are fun. But I'd advise you buy two to help others get into it.

Yu-Gi-Oh. Try it out first online for free (Master Duel, but don't put any money into it)

If you like it buy 3 Crystal Beast Structure decks and watch NESHY on YouTube on making a budget build with the structure deck. It's basically all you need homie. That's 30 dollars and you're set for a very long time. It's fully a fully competitive rogue deck the also gets you staples for the future.

Try getting into board games(as in boxes board games on /bgg/) instead. Tcgs are predatory games which you should only get into if you really like them and spending money, not to steal some friends.

unless you were actively trying to sabotage someone, why in the frick would you ever suggest that they should socialize with commander players
