I was born 87 years ago. For 65 years I've ruled as Tamriel's Emperor. But for all these years, I've never been the ruler of my own dreams. I have seen the gates of Oblivion, beyond which no waking eye may see. Behold, in darkness, a doom sweeps the land. This is the 27th of Last Seed, the year of Akatosh, 433. These are the closing days of the Third Era, and the final hours of my life.

Yes very epic I'm sure the 10 year olds who thought zelda was the best "RPG" ever were very impressed with this game

As a die hard morrowind fan, oblivion was the first time I remember being disappointed in a sequel.

i never understood this. you actually LIKE endless barren wilderness and algorithmically generated sidequests? as opposed to thoughtful world design and optional factions with actual plots? not to mention milquetoast medieval fantasy world design vs an alien and hostile country full of demon cults and ruled by living gods

I like being able to roleplay in a different world yes.

as if morrowind is severely lacking roleplaying potential

He's kidding, but no, people don't like Daggerfall, they like the idea of Daggerfall. Fans cling to the word "ambition" as if it means jack shit when you're actually playing the game, where all the "ambition" turns into half-baked ideas. The creators are pretty moronic too, when they were asked what features they really wished could've been added it was shit like "not being able to buy furniture for your house." Daggerfall is a game by morons, for morons.

i'm inclined to agree but i don't dismiss daggerfall completely and would like to play it more thoroughly some day.

In terms of roleplaying potential I'd say it goes Daggerfall, Morrowind, Skyrim, Oblivion
In terms of actual quality of the roleplaying I'd say Morrowind, Skyrim, Daggerfall, Oblivion
Bottom line, Oblivion sucks donkey dick

I always thought this intro was so ugly, even back when it came out. Especially fricking Uriel, looked like a clay man with a clay hair piece and he was covered in compression artifacts.

      >bro, for this intro we should put some guards walking around
      >yeah stick one on the rampart with no way to actually get there
      >perfect. i already scaled the models to fit with these normal sized paths leading to the other districts
      what a fricking shitshow.

Well there probably would be guards on the ramparts. Blame technology at the time for not allowing multiple city sections to be loaded at once.

theres not even fake doors up there just for the sake of the cutscene though. its literally less work the plop a door object on the tower than it was to script that guard to walk.

I remember being so impressed with these visuals back in the day. Oblivion and Dead Rising were the first games that felt truly next gen.

Funny how Dead Rising has aged like a fine wine whereas Oblivion gets worse every year.

Is the ogrim the most bizarre, unfitting creature design in a TES game?
