Because full speed at 1% joystick tilt isn't good design, especially for a platformer. Even worse if you have the slightest amount of stick drift which thankfully this is a new ds5 so I dont have that yet.
I think the idea is that you use the frog gun to go faster.
That controller issue was pretty much the sole thing I disliked about the demo, movement being either full tilt or nothing at all made it really annoying to try and do anything precise with the frogun and the very slight drift on my controller which hasn't been an issue in any other game ran me off of platforms a couple times.
I remember also having some complaints about the camera but I don't remember what they were, might have just been not liking the angle.

This was definitely one of the best levels. The fricking desperation bits in stages were something else. Especially when they eventually would just result in a tie from killing anything left if you didn't win.

Yeah, I really wish the game didn't have manual camera controls, the fact that the camera moves with you in order to aim feels like it lowers the skill ceiling a fair amount. And yes I know you can plant yourself and aim without the camera moving with you but it's so slow and clumsy it's basically never worth it.

Had this game wishlisted from the steamfest. It's one of the few games that does "old Japanese 5th gen game" art style correctly despite being done by westerners, and the gameplay was good enough. Looking forward to playing it.

is this what Super Lucky's Tale is like to play? It's a very simple platformer with tutorials blurbs about platform types and triggers I already figured out 3 levels prior but I guess I don't mind 100% completing it in a few hours because it has collectible and speed rewards that make it feel enticing to do a level multiple times

Cyberpunk's only mission with branching gameplay based on choices was the one shown to journalists and at early access events, and Undertale's demo similarly had more moments of the devs accounting for player choice than the actual game did. It's drastically easier to make a short demo area soulful than it is to actually make a good game.
The technical term of "vertical slice." Biggest example I can think of in recent times is The Great Plateau in BotW, which is basically an entirely different game after you get the glider. At least traversal-wise.

KBM isn't bad with this game. I'd recommend increasing camera speed to 200% when using mouse though because it emulates an analog stick instead of using direct mouse controls
