I don't agree with the term but when someone refers to "forced animation," it's when the movement that art tries to imitate overshoots the way things would actually play out in dumb ways. Like if someone is drawing a card from a deck and a shit-ton of emphasis is put on really tiny muscle movements and wrist motions that someone in that situation wouldn't bother doing to begin with, and it's not appropriate for the situation as animated.
That webm isn't even an example of "forced animation" anyway, it might bounce a little more than someone might like but it's not gratuitous or anything.

Zelda Skyrim makes logical sense for an adventure focused franchise. Randomized challenges is utter fucking nonsense for an exploration centered IP like Metroid.
But Returnal has hidden walls and secrets too. You could 100% do a sidequel like Returnal and have it be a 2-3 hour long roguelite focused on rewinding time to go on parralel universes or whatever
Returnal is better than Metroid. The only thing that bothers me about it is that the devs reduced difficulty and added save points after choose your own adventure/fighting game RPG gamers complained.
