Seemingly daily on this board. Which is par for the course considering it's way better and more interesting than the first game.

One and a half milly seller in 6 months, yea it was a monster in its day. It sold a lot. I remember checking it out from GameStop when I worked there, but I was over the gta clone craze after finishing vice city. Looks like it got decent reviews, I just don’t ever remember anyone ever really talking about it.

Jak was always mogged by Ratchet.

yeah but Sly was mogged by Clank, and Clank was mogged by Ratchet... it's weird that way
you really can't take the network of mogging relationships seriously as an indicator of quality

All of these action dudebro platformers on Playstation are terrible if you aren't a child anymore. Jak, that other rat with the gun, Sly, etc.

Sly wasn’t an edgy grimdark game. It was a furry game made by a furry, and I hated furries even back then so I never played it.

Same. I never bothered with Sly because it looked like furgay shit.
At least Ratchet had the excuse of being an alien.

I've never played any of them so my mind fades in and out of its awareness that "Jack and Daxter" are not actually the same pair as "Ratchet & Clank" - to me these kinds of games all blur together in a morass of "stuff that came after Mario 64 and was probably less interesting, not least because of the annoying-looking main characters"

Didn't they kinda try to reach a middle ground with Jak 3?

I was prime video game audience during this trend and while it got old fast, it’s so much better then now. I am legitimately nostalgic for mu metal and grittiness.

My favorite part of this trend was when Twisted Metal, already one of the edgiest games of the 90’s, went totally evil goth with Twisted Metal Black.

Everyday, i'm thankful the Naughty israelite, Druckmann, hasn't touched Jak and will not ever thanks to his hubris and his kosher as frick anti-game video game philosophy being in his focus.
I do hope someone pass the damn torch over who's responsible for the character designs in the Jak series, Sony ain't got the brightest ideas rn.

I defend it and I was born in 86, I was the prime demographic for it when it was big. It's hard to explain WHY I defend it though, maybe it's just because I hate people being ironic so much that the "ow the edge" era that genuinely thought it was the coolest shit ever, is better to be because at least they really did think they were cool.

I hated that stupid mission where you had to race that stupid character through the city and had to collect all the rings
