isn't that just a more powerful DS? Not that I mind since I can play DS games on the e-shop but it seems like nintendo is running out of console ideas

what DS games on the eshop?

I'm saying if the switch 2 essentially becomes a souped up DS then I'm looking forward to playing DS games on the e-shop

There's technically DSi ware but there were also plenty of 3DS rereleases for Atlus titles like Strange Journey, Devil Survivor and Radiant Historia

I want a DS successor. The DS was based. Hate the 3ds.

I used the first in docked 90% of the time. Your opinions could not be less relevant to me. I m curious of the data Nintendo has, which side was more dominant, docked or handheld.

The form that switch 2 takes will reveal all.

I've heard it's pretty even split between docked and handheld with maybe a little more leaning towards handheld

i'm pretty sure docked is the more popular way of using it. or maybe not, maybe people like playing switch games undocked while lying in bed, who knows?

        >I m curious of the data Nintendo has, which side was more dominant, docked or handheld.
        Handheld by far

Back in 2017 is was about 20% primarily docked to 30% primarily handheld, with the remaining 50% swapping between the two modes frequently. Those were with demographics that skewed like 85% male.
I'm interested to see how, or if, that number has changed with the Switch Lite and more female-oriented games like Animal Crossing. I have an intuition that females are far more likely to play in handheld mode.

I completely forgot you could play it docked because I only used it handheld

really? i pretty much only play docked cause the pro controller is way more comfortable

for me it was something like i play docked until i'm tired then i play it on handheld when i'm in my bed...

    >"OK, the Switch is really popular, how do we keep raking in the money?"
    >"Make it stronger so it can run better and play even more games without exploding"

    There you go.

It would seem coming back to dual screen since NSO's next step would be to provide ds games the problem is that developing new dual screen games would be a pain in the ass for any 3rd party devs because most studios changed focus, and the 3ds and wiiu are still relatively fresh in people's minds. Doing it would be too risky.

well they might make the second screen detachable so it isn't mandatory for every game

I think they'll reintroduce the Wii U concept and allow the handheld stream to the dock, only for DS and 3DS ports for Switch Online

they should literally just have called it the wii 2, i think. not particularly inventive, but so what? it. just. werks. simple. as.

what infuriates me is that wii 2 not only would make logical sense, the phonetic "we too" would fit their marketing strategy so much better
but i'm sure there was some asiatic ass motherfricker going all like "no, if we do this our console is only 2 when the competition is 4"

To be fair, Microsoft did the same thing which is why their consoles go

            >Xbox
            >Xbox 360
            >Xbox 360 S
            >Xbox 360 E

Every console was their “most powerful” when it came out, that’s how technology works homosexual. Their strongest console FOR THE TIME was probably SNES or Gamecube. Wii U was somewhat comparable to 360/PS3 (but only slightly weaker) but instantly became laughably dated just a year later when the next gen came out. Wii and Switch were both deliberately dated on launch. And N64 may have been solid on a technical level but the memory limit of the carts stunted its capabilities

i bet it'll be exactly like the first switch, but just faster and with a slightly different design. the switch formula is the most successful formula nintendo have ever come up with, so far.

Switch 2 won't be dual screen because that will drive up the price unless they use really really cheap screens.
