Normally I would say no but since it's a Sonic game, yes

I NEVER SAID I LIKED SONIC 3 & KNUCKLES MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE I EVER PLAYED, EAT SHIT. EVERY THREAD HAS TO START WITH AN IMAGE.

You'd get tired of anything if you constantly have it in your face. I got tired of Super Mario World after 15 years, used to play it once a year. Now I took a break for 2 years and am playing it again and I enjoy it.

It's insane how shitty the level design was in S&k they really ruined a layup. Stil scratching my head since sonic 2 and 3 are so great

      Yeah I agree
Sonic 3 is great but Knuckles is just meh
Fantastic art/music but the level design is pretty mediocre

Absolutely not. Just because you might feel some fatigue from it doesn't mean it can't still be a favorite after how move you loved playing it in the past.

No. Some games are just not built to be replayed. There are many beloved games that are made to be extremely smooth on first playthroughs, but will become less fun afterwards. Whether it's you just playing the same game too many times and getting tired or the game not being very replayable despite being well designed is up to you to find out. For me, both happened - some games I was just tired of, for a while, some I've never found as fun as the first playthroughs again.

Sonic 3&K and Super Metroid are the only non fighting games I never get sick of, but then again it's not like I play them more than a normal person would play the same single player games

I also Play Mega Man X 1-4 a lot, but I have to admit it's just like going through the motions, I just do it, those games are very much tight gaming experiences, idk how to explain it, but it's just like you do it, you did it, you already did it so when you do it again it's like "i'm going this again" and that's it

This is why RPGs end up in people's favorites. They revisit it like a book, not every day like an arcade maniac. No one ever claims galaga is their favorite.

I never grew up playing RPGs so I went on a run of them a couple years ago, just ran through tons of classic ones one after another, thought I had come to like it

Then, I tried to replay some, and got into the same situation each time
      >end up underleveled even though i wasn't the first time
      >even though i always fight like a handful of gratuitous battles
      >look up recommended level
      >always way behind, too much work

S3&K is my favorite as well and I've played it so, so, so many times that naturally it starts to feel like business as usual when I play through it, but I'll *never* not call it my favorite game.

There are games I liked enough to do 1CC, 1LC or even no damage runs.

Leave them be for a few years, come back to them, they're still as great.

tl;dr grow some autism and a good game will never be a stale

in my last sega genesis days, back when i was a kid, the only game i basically played 24/7 was sonic and knuckles, not because it was the only one i liked oe because i myself loved sonic, but because it was the WORKING game colorful, catchy and brightful enough to give me peace and fill me up. so there i wqs, spending my last months playing s&k non-stop. yes i was tired, pretty much playing the same over and over again every day, it was literally tiresome, but i was bored, i NEEDED an upgrade - then came the ps2, to save me

that was just a phase, i never stopped liking sonic much less the gem that is sonic & knuckles. i was 9 and i owned the sega since 6. 3 years, quite a beautiful ride, lot and lots of super fond memories, but i was yearning for an upgrade. infact later on I happily and excitedly bought and enjoyed sonic mega collection plus, because yes I never stopped loving these games even if my cousin bullied me for liking old shit

It's usually whatever you play the most. Though it's fine to prefer another game while playing one a lot too
