It's nowhere near as hard as the NG games for example

          Anonymous

NGB is one of my favorite games, but don't act like you can't cheese through huge chunks of the game with ultimates. Where it really succeeds is how fluid the combat is, which sekiro also has in common. I actually haven't had as much fun with an action as I did while playing sekiro since NG. You're right that it's not actually that hard if you don't suck at these games, and the one weapon limit seriously hurts replayability. I wish From would frick off with souls for a second to expand on sekiro, cause with more weapons and a few more defensive options it could be truly great.

Really cool bosses. Okay exploration. Tonnes of minibosses some good and some just annoying (like requiring buying a consumable to be able to fight them). Annoying split ending system where you don't get to fight all bosses in one playthrough. Overall it's pretty good.

One of the best in FromSoft's catalogue. If you've played any dark souls or elden ring you will have growing pains of trying to untrain the muscle memory of those games. Strategies in those games will not work here. For me there was a point after the first or second miniboss that I just "got it." So keep with it. Maybe put it down and come back to it if you're stuck on something/someone for an hour.

Armored Core has always been a very niche series. Its core gameplay appealed to a very specific audience. You can say it "filtered" people. Making the sixth installment more souls-like to appeal to a wider audience worked for like one month. On top of that, I saw complaints from old Armored Core fans that the VI doesn't feel like an AC game.

There’s a good chance you’ll wind up at Lady Butterfly as a first boss before other bosses because of the way the game is structured.
If you are getting you ass seriously kicked by her, abandon the fight and come back. She’s more like a 3rd or 4th boss and much easier after a few weapon or health upgrades.
That said I always fight her first anyway because I’m a glutton for punishment.

mikiri counter, using your grapple for some enemy mechanics, lightning reversal, using your ninja tools like fire crackers, using ninjutsu to puppet enemies, using skills to deplete enemy stamina instead of parrying, etc. I made the mistake of only trying to use my sword my first playthrough. My second playthrough I used all the tools at my disposal and it was way more fun.

A great game. Better than all of fromsofts game. It’s an action game, linear like DS3 but it works for sekiro, and the combat is amazing. Takes a while, but once you master it it becomes so fun. Combat does feel the same though as you get to end game when u start to get the hang of it. Still amazing game though.

    Based game
Don't spunk all your spirit emblems at the start of every boss fight, keep them until you're really going for the victory
Fight the bull like a matador (stand your ground) - he does chip damage for some reason but it's not much
You will unlock the hirata estate early, and you should go there early to pick up a couple of new prosthetics, but don't worry about completing the whole area until later
If the ogre filters you, you can fight him like a dark souls boss by hitting him a couple of times then dodging away from him
You can dodge forward through more attacks than you think
God I wish I could play it for the first time again

GOATed 3D beat 'em up. The only 3D beat em up where the bosses/minibosses HAVE ACTUAL MIXUPS where you have to read the animations. It's not just a parrying game it's a parry/jump(sweeps)/sidestep(grabs) game. Compare this to DMC3-5, which have no defensive or offensive depth at all they're just buttonmashing.

Something underappreciated about sekiro is how great the scope for mastery really is
The better you get, the more opportunities you notice for sneaking attacks into the enemy's combos
And when you learn that you can forward dodge reliably through lots of attacks, it opens up new opportunities to counter and attack
And then when you realise that defending different attacks leads to different chains, and you can manipulate combo chains to get the attacks you want

NTA, I think they're both about the same quality, maybe Sekiro's tighter since it has less variety, but Nioh 2 definitely challenged me more.

it has the depth of 5 normal games and is perfectly designed

          Anonymous

I felt like Nioh 2's level design was a bit too constrictive and every level flowed the same-ish way. You unlock a few shortcuts, there are obvious traps/ambushes, and have your mid-level boss/final boss. I know the scenery and enemy types were varied, and there was a decent amount of verticality used, but every level I just felt like I was doing the same things, just with different aesthetics. The combat was great; ki pulse/flux was a fun mechanic to manage in the heat of battle and each weapon felt viable and rewarding in their own way. I just felt like the level design was a weak spot.

Do overhaul mods do anything for the paper doll economy? It's always felt to me that the game hamstrings its combat system by tying special attacks to a finite resource when the attacks aren't even worth it most of the time because deflection trumps all.

Resurrection mod gives you a temporary emblem (resets on resting) for each kill, up to +5 on top of your normal amount. I personally think this was a huge upgrade over vanilla (among many other improvements).

A decent, if monotonous and repetitive (especially as it goes on) action game. It's fine for one playthrough, but I confess, by the end of mine I was just brainlessly running behind enemies for easy kills since the game sports that trademark FromSoft AI. It even works on bosses, so...

It's just not varied enough to carry its length was my honest impression. No, it wasn't too difficult, I didn't need to get especially good, I completed it just fine with the ending where I stabbed the kid with the super speshul katanah. I just think it's too long for its own good, wears out its wow factor.

Also, this may have been just my setup, but it felt like there was some severe input lag to some moves. Or maybe just shoddy animation work, who knows.

FYI I don't mean the finishers. Just unlock the camera, sprint around the enemy, hit them, let them turn to face you, rinse and repeat. It certainly works on Sword Saint Isshin because it's the only way I could be assed to beat him lol.

          Anonymous

the game intentionally rewards you for hitting them in the back. that's why there's a prosthetic which exists to turn them around.
if you're wasting time running in circles you're basically letting them heal posture

            Anonymous

That's why you run behind them. To hit them in the back. Really, do try it. Just make sure you aren't locked on, because that modifies player movement. It's pretty much standard for FromSoft games, they all fall apart if you dare to play without locking on. Which might only be possible to do well with a mouse, but eh, it's on PC, why wouldn't you play with the mouse?

Then you could spam firecrackers or whatever prosthetics during boss fights. Spirit emblems aren't really an issue outside of boss fights because you get more without ever running out.

the boss fights can be fun, but everything else in the game is boring filler
nothing worth exploring for and so on
make sure to look up a guide for the true ending so you have enough level up points in attack and vitality so the endgame bosses are actually balanced

I highly recommend looking at a guide as I would with any From game. You will get fricked out of lots of content like memory owl and a bunch of side quests and that's before considering that you'll lock yourself out of progressing your prosthetic tool because you didn't get one of the others. Some bosses are fun but others are grindy and the hard mode just makes them tankier, not worth engaging with outside if using it to farm for more prosthetic upgrades. Overall a 7/10 game, mostly carried by the beautiful style and voices.
