Damn, that's lucky as frick.
It was an early N64 game, so it probably was the first or second game for plenty of people.
Such a weird fricking game but kinda cool
What's weird about it?
not OP, but Nintendo never really seemed to make many arcade-style games in this vein. It feels pretty unique for them
Shut the frick up white boy.
It's so good. I think it's the best racing game ever.
>greatest racer
>played with a N64 pad
Have you ever played any Sega arcade racers?
>Have you ever played any Sega arcade racers?
It's better than every Sega racer with the exception of Sega Rally, Hang-On, Super Hang-On, and OutRun, which are on par with Wave Race 64. But you have to play it with a decent stick, like the HORI Mini. The stock N64 stick feels like absolute garbage
Scud Race, Daytona 2, Outrun 2, Sega Rally 2 shit all over Wave Race. It's a cool game but Nintendo is outclassed here.
You honestly think wave race is better than an arcade set up daytona?
I love Daytona and have played it a lot at arcades and on the Saturn. I also think Daytona on the Dreamcast is great and underrated. But I think Wave Race is better than both
>Outrun 2
I used to be massively into Outrun 2, and still play it, but I've gone somewhat cold on it. The driving is better than it is in the first game, but the look, sound, and vibe of OutRun 1 are about as good as the genre gets. At this point I'd take OR1 and WaveRace over any version of OR2
Every version of daytona I've ever tried has had unbelievably twitchy steering. Am I missing something? Do I need to fiddle with the settings or is it just like that?
No tampering with setting at the arcade anon. It handles like a dream.
It was the first game I got when I bought my N64, does that count? It's pretty nostalgic for me for that alone
is that zoomer or millenial
Sounds cool, but that's not Wave Race, it's Wave Race 64.
Wave Race was on Game Boy.
GB Wave Race is fricking brutally hard to finish. N64 game is cake in comparison.
I'll never forgive Iwata for not making a 3DS 64 3D remake, Star Fox 64 got one plus the two Zelda's. Wave Race 64 would benefit from a graphics restyle with online. Wave Race BS was BS, they should just reuse the gameplay engine from WR64 instead we got a nervous and spastic gameplay with a Saturday's morning cartoon presentation.
>I'll never forgive Iwata for not making a 3DS 64 3D remake
3ds is shit
why would you want to play a wii graphics game on a portable?
For the modern features and graphical upgrade, just want another version of the Wave Race 64 which is my favorite game.
better off than all these goofs that had a shitty Sonic Adventure 2 port as their first game...like half this fricking board apparently.
I bought it on release with my n64. Beat it and returned it for Mario 64.
Then every game you play afterwards would fail to live up to its greatness.
The water effects in the menu screen was my first taste of sour grapes. One friend got an N64 long before anybody else in the group and I was salty as hell. "T-that doesn't look...all that cool..."
It would be a very good first impression to video games.
The gameboy one was the 4th game I owned for that system.
I still have the manual.
Yeah, it would be horrible to have a game with good race tracks, very enjoyable music and ambience, great mechanics, a lot of replayability and amazing physics.
Wace Race is one of the most pleasant games ever.
It's still one of my most played games now, so good
I can hear the theme in my head right now
Do dootoo do doooooo
it was a great game. like driving on dunes with a quad. music was spectacular too
I was fresh off the genesis first time I played wr64, shit was mind blowing.
I've always felt that you can tell how much the music people cared about a game by how good the options screen music is and this game has a great tune
This game defined my summer of '97.
Swimming on the pool all day, then coming home on the afternoon/night and playing Wave Race 64.
EAD on N64 was pure gold. I got into 1080 Snowboarding recently (I didn't care about it back then, dunno why) and it's also extremely addictive to play and master.
It was excellent
