In case you didn't know.
Wild hearts is now on game pass technically EA play but you get EA play as part of game pass.
You wont know it as its not directly advertised on the game pass tore on PC but it is once you run EA play using an account app tied to game pass.
Online is pretty active because of this right now you can find people to help you in hunts at low levels.
The games performance has improved to a playable level.
I experimented whit settings and found that using DLSS enabling triple buffering in nvida control panel for some reason improves performance drastically. I get near constant 60 fps even during more intense fights.
Also if you have less than 8gb of video ram set textures to medium.
So far i like the game more than Rise.
Not as good as world but better than rise. Weapons are really fun to use and many have extra moves in combination whit karakuri.
Am I supposed to care?
Depends on whether you like Monster hunter like games.
If you do its really worth playing. If not then you are still free to cry about a game you dont care about.
Why would someone cry about a game they don't care about? You make no sense dude
>why would someone click on a thread they don't care about? You make no sense dude
It’s worse than MH:World but slightly more interesting than playing more RISE.
Pretty much.
Biggest novelty is the fact the weapons feel new compared to Monhun.
My favorite so far is the buzz-saw umbrella but iv bean experimenting whit the giant knife.
Monsters are more or less similar in feel to stuff in monster hunter.
Although most of the monsters seam to share some moves based on skeleton and element.
This game was clearly a shot and a miss at a MHW clone. These Devs might eventually nail the whole vibe if they kept trying for like six games. Like clearly these devs just lack the practical practice to make a better clone. The games jank feels like its because of inexperience.
The characters somehow look like complete ass most of the time early on. It’s not shown signs of improvement.
I mean yea armors are hit or miss but i find no issues whit character models.
Honestly the game had a potential to be a hit but they messed it up by bad optimization.
It’s not the worst I’ve played, but the problem is that EA is never gonna give these devs the time and budget it’ll take to catch up to what they’re trying to copycat. This game has already been essentially abandoned and I’d be amazed if it were considered worth a sequel considering it released with all the hype of a wet fart.
>now
wasn't it on gamepiss Day 1
doesn't it still have horrific performance issues
isn't it s h i t e
The performance issues are the only reason it was shat on.
It still can run like ass unless you tweak the settings a bit but its playable at 60 fps now.
You do need to use DLSS to get playable frame-rate.
Runs at mostly 60 fps on my Rig.
But i do have a i7 10th gen 11700k
>You do need to use DLSS to get playable frame-rate.
not worth playing, then
I mean if you dont like Hunter type games then yea its obviously not.
I am wiling to tolerate locked 60 fps if the game is good.
And honestly we dont really have enough modern monhun clones.
I'm getting 60 fps with my i7 9700k now, only a few stutters here and there but nothing unplayable
>10th gen
I think you don't understand how cpu generations work.
I added an extra 1 by accident meant to say 10700k
technically it wasn't gamepass day 1 but it had a 10 hour trial.
I decided to skip this one after I saw pronoun selection. Voting with the wallet and all that.
inb4 "you missed out must be miserable etc" So many games come out these days I can't keep up. I can drop a game for the most trivial shit imaginable and still not be able to keep up.
They put in pronouns because japan thinks its what USA wants nowadays.
At no point does you gender come up,
And they made female characters more attractive than anything west has churned out recently.
Sorry EA shill. I've decided I can't be an accomplice to the intentional destruction of the English language anymore. I won't be playing wild hearts. Do me a favor and tell your employers why.
>So many games come out these days I can't keep up
Every fucking game has it retard
That's a silly fuckin reason to pass on something you might otherwise be interested in. Granted, there's many small reasons of which that could reasonably be included in, the game was great, but marred by a lot of small failures.
retarded chud homosexual kys
Is this a shill post? It reads like a shill post.
he's posted a few times today, I think
>People who want to talk about video games in a positive way must be shills.
The game was literally dead but coming to game pass brought it back to life.
Even i am not retarded enough to pay 70$ for a game so im glad i get to play it for basically 8$ which is how much game pass costs me in my country.
And i didn't even get the game pass for it but to play the new Yakuza games but this is a nice surprise honestly because i did want to play another monster hunter type game in a while.
Seams I have regional pricing in Serbia.
It’s an awright game, man. It has a lot going for it but it also does some things badly. Definitely worth a try though. Even if only for the music and character creation.
Wildhearts was a pretty fun hunter clone, but the endgame is atrocious and there is no reason to keep grinding beyond the last boss because all of the hard fights only reward cosmetics
Thanks for the heads up. I kinda figured endgame wouldn’t be beefy.
Don't forget that the transmog system was also fucking horrible and grindmax.
>Kill the last boss like 55 times if you want to use its gear look
bro just farm every monster in the entire game to make that new weapon. Holy fuck, I never thought I'd miss old school mh plate grinding.
I like the idea of the weapon tree but it felt not impactful enough for how much fucking effort you needed to go through to try to make anything specific.
I killed the last boss like 20 times to make 2 weapons just because of a good attribute
Shame the game is essentially rollslop and every weapon turns to karakuri abuse at one point
The roster was about as big as World on release. Bear wasn't nowhere as bad as Zorah. You really wonder what they were trying to achieve with this fight as you could just never do it again.
I wanted to play this game when it came out but the abysmal performance stopped me. I decided to try it yesterday on gamepass and it still runs kinda shit, but I get a smooth 60fps at 1440 now so it's not too bad
I like it so far. It's REALLY copying monhun world in every way, from story to town design it's a complete ripoff, but the building mechanic is novel enough that I'm enjoying setting up my levels and seeing how other people set theirs up differently in coop. Definitely not a bad game but it was never going to directly compete with monhun anyway
I think all the weapons are pretty boring except the katana you start with which sucks. The great sword is especially boring and that's my monhun main which makes me sad
The greatsword gets most of its interesting gameplay and viability out of the building blocks. Torches, springs, boxes, and celestial tethers or whatever those are called all make greatsword tremendously more interesting and mobile. Skills also help smooth out its gameplay like more stamina/less consumption.
It's definitely the most boring weapon to start with though.
Anyone playing on console?
Game has cross play.
So it doesn't matter who plays on what butt yea most people i meat have Xbox logo.
yeah PC players have an EA logo next to their name instead. I'm on PC and feel like it's 80/20 more Xbox players I see online
I bow fagged the entire game because bow were OP then and there was no point in not using them + the box gimmicks
Wild Hearts is probably the ugliest game I have ever seen and at the same time it has ridiculous system requirements.
>the ugliest game I have ever seen
It's not a good looking game but come on
STILL runs like dog shit.
60 fps is enough if the game is fun.
Honestly id be happy even whit stable 30 fps when it originally came out.
But it runs much better now.
>DLSS
>Fake frames
No thanks
>should we take advantage of monster hunters regression and add in underwater
>lol no
what were they thinking
well well well a Tribab in the Wild
I cant believe koei wasted millions dollars solely because they couldnt be assed to optomize.
They had back to back flops of millions wasted all on the fact theyre too fucking stupid to optimize their releases.
The attack on titan weapon is the fucking best.
60fps lol I get a constant 140+fps in worlds iceborn using a 6700xt and 10900f. Wild Hearts a shit.
I played the Trial and liked the Umbrella. I just finished Like a Dragon Gaiden so I'll play it.
its got some really vague ass shit objectives that I've had to look up a guide, like this one
but to be fair im skipping all the dialogue so I never know whats going on
just point me at the next fucking monster its not rocket surgery
I liked wild hearts a lot. do wish it ran better ngl. got all trophies and had a great time playing it.
>pick mal body
>pick male pronouns
>can't see nipples
well, they figured out a response to that "why can't I take of type B's top" meme
I found the end game stuff super tedious and I ended up disliking the karakuri more often than I thought it was cool. I had fun with the game but the entire time I was playing it I kept thinking it would've been more fun if they made Toukiden 3 instead.
I bounced off Toukiden pretty hard but thought this was ok. I would like them to return to Toukiden also if they actually took all the lessons from this
I don't really like the big karakuri contraptions like the wall/harpoons, but I did generally enjoy the small stuff. There's definitely some rough edges that need to be smoothed out, like having an option toggle to ignore other players' tethers/springs from affecting you. Way too easy to build up clutter mid-fight.
still not playing this trash
you newfag retards need to learn that successful MH clones not exist, never did never will
but I've played the monhun games and want a new flavor until world 2 comes out
you have like 20 years of MH games
and now I have this
its not great but its a hell of a lot better than God Eater and shit
>successful MH clones not exist
newfag poser doesn't know about GU and Rise. pathetic
trying too hard eric
post the picture. Ganker know you have it saved on drive
would Eric say Rise is successful?
dunno eric, why are you so filtered by games that are not the abortion that's world?
Personally I was actually pretty happy with Wild Hearts as someone who likes to try and and all Hunting genre games.
The weapons felt nice and unique both in their own roster and stacked up against all the other various weapons that have been created. Enough differences that even the simple ones didn't feel like a carbon copy at least.
Honestly the biggest flaw with it, other than just the wild range of performance, is that the monsters just didn't really have a good moveset across the board. Way too much reliance on big sweeping attacks with less than stellar visual hitbox distinction. Not to mention the small roster.
But in the end it's sad to see them just kinda pull the plug on it now given I did feel it was a good initial outing for a new game in the genre, not like MH1 was a shining example of game development when it first existed.
But nope, no more iteration or exploration of the mechanics.
Oh right, the Bear siege fight was honestly the worst thing I've ever fought. Which was impressive.
I forgot about that bear. Its like the equivalent of those turret missions in FPS games where you just hold left click while waiting for it to be over.
i like turret missions you spazzy homosexuals are too cringe to appreciate just firing a billion bullets and not bothering with stupid shit
what?
that mission sucks eggs, I dont mind a turret sequence or autoscroller in an action game but holy fuck it wasnt even that
at least the end felt like an old GoW fight with his big hands and dumb face getting way too close to you for no reason
>monsters just didn't really have a good moveset across the board. Way too much reliance on big sweeping attacks with less than stellar visual hitbox distinction
I completely agree, but its to encourage their weird dial-a-bomb build system to interrupt those attacks. it never stops feeling clunky, especially when you hit the wrong third button in a combo and just end up with a retarded stack of nonsense
but when you do dial that bomb when it starts a big sweep and you stun it out of the move, it feels alright
>especially when you hit the wrong third button in a combo
Or you dared to be moving slightly when you started and it bugs out and the shit stops attaching together.
oh yeah kek
fuck the build system. if they are going to design the entire combat system around that shit, at least make it work. if I press the buttons within.3 seconds of the last one, make them snap. if i accidentally moved and just surround myself with towers of dogshit boxes instead of making a wall to parry the move, then the system is bad. a normal block/parry mapped to a button would have been more functional
>fuck the build system
I'm not a fan of the combat build stuff but I like the persistent map constructions. Making my custom system of zip lines is ludo and I like seeing how different a coop hosts world is. Sucks that the build limits are so strict I just want more zip lines goddammit
If you set it to hold to use instead of toggle it becomes less of a hassle and more like a Unique combat stance.
Iv started using constructs as parts of a combo by doing stuff like L1+Suare or triangle etc.
On some weapons it feels like a unique dash attack how easy it is to incorporate in to combat.
I don't mind the hold controls, it's more than in the heat of the moment I try to hit circle triangle circle for a bomb but I move a little, and end up with springs and torches all around me. I think the anon I replied to had a good idea for a time based input snapping for builds because it really bite you in the ass a lot
outside of online games I never had issues building.
Online however, if you placed shit too fast it literally build boxes inside of eachother. I had to get used to place shit in short intervals
Is this fun
Sell me on it
it's halfway between monhun world and Toukiden 2. If you like either of those games and have gamepass it's worth checking out, otherwise probably not
monster hunter with fortnite building and awful dialogue where the writers refuse to translate basic words. If you just want to fuck up monsters in goofy ways its fun. Its you're expecting something grand you'll be disappointed.
nothing to sell you on just download the game its on gamepass and you can get a month of game pass ultimate for 5$ on cdkeys
its up there with monster hunter world iceborne and has a higher peak to me nothing like fighting deathstalker with his final fantasy music under a full moon on top of a tower kinda sad that these niggas dont know how to optimize the game could have had a long life if ea believed in it
>could have had a long life if ea believed
More like if Koei got their fucking act together and made the game run properly
afaik they are no longer supporting it because it sold poorly, them adding it to gamepass is a last ditch effort to get a little money for it which is unfortunate because I think it had more potential than the toukiden games
Every ea game gets added to gamepass within a year, retard.
Do you like hunting games? Yeah it's fun
It has unique weapons, the in-combat building system leads to some pretty dynamic gameplay when you get used to it and how it interacts with your weapon, the monsters are interesting looking and reasonably well built for the most part, combat has weight to it for heavier weapons, and it feels like you can affect the monster rather than it just being a punching bag that does preprogrammed swings without regard for what you're doing.
It is also held back by a multitude of small annoyances, and starts out pretty clunky before you get the resources to build out a transportation network on the maps or get how to do stuff. Performance is better than launch but still questionable, the UI is better than Toukiden but still kinda bad, the armor is overall pretty ugly if you care about fashion, some systems like the weapon tree or the Monster/Human traits on armor are cool on paper but in practice don't really amount to much.
Overall a mixed bag,
sums it up well.
yeah it's fun. I will be grabbing all of the achievements. Fighting the super mega volatile shit now.
>super mega volatile
Is that the game's version of high rank? I'm still on like chapter 3 but I'm curious when they stop showing you new monsters and just give you explosive versions of the same roster
HR would be mighty which I think is in that chapter. Volatile is the post game stuff and deeply is supercharged variants. I only have quests for a few, I don't know if there is one for the full roster.
Wait chapter 3 is HR? damn the game is shorter than I thought
Game is technically on EA play.
Which is part of game pass.
If you just want to play this game and possibly dead space remake or other EA games.
Its like 5$ a monht.
So people on PS5 can also play the game for cheap.
But then again i heard you can find it on sale for 30$.
if this game had been free to play and put up as a competitor to Dauntless, it might have succeeded.
I think there's room for a FTP monhun game but dauntless is so abysmally bad
I posted this in the wrong thread pls kill me
i 100% agree with this take this would have been a huge f2p game and if they added a battle pass i could see people buying it
I thought about it a little more and I really think it's true.
All they needed to pull off was like 1 new monster every 3-4 months and a new weapon every 6 months. Most of the battlepass could be cosmetics and chat sticker garbage to fill tiers, new emotes etc.
Still leave a crazy grind to unlock the cosmetic versions of armor, but let people buy their way to those immediately.
Basically allow a normal gameplay progression for actual bosses which is already a little grindy in hunting games, and then make all the cosmetic shit a massive grind and have exclusives in the pass. whales love that shit
Could you elaborate on why Dauntless is so bad?
no
My biggest issue with the game is how gear locked the fights are. There comes a point where no matter how good you play, you are going to need the gear they want you to wear to progress, and the grinds to get that gear are a lot more aggressive than monhun and other paid hunting games
I haven't played since a few months after launch so I'm not sure if anything has changed, but the game is just braindead easy until you suddenly stop doing any fucking damage at all
also the combat system is boring. None of the weapons had very interesting movesets or mechanics so it just feels like a button masher when compared to its contemporaries. Even when you are playing well, it's less engaging than basically anything else in the genre
It's like the fortnite retard version of a hunting game which makes sense considering that's basically what it's trying to be
where do i buy gamepass?
>Not as good as world
Okay I will play world again instead then
turd world shittop has no problems completing
>mh world
>nioh 2
>elden ring
>bg3
but wild hearts and wolong run at 10fps. Thanks Koei Trannies!
