Want to name some examples? Preferably ones that can be attributed directly to Kreia and not the generally darker tone of the Prequels?

Kreia obviously had no baring over George’s direction with the Prequels, but KOTOR 2 is interesting in the sense that it released just prior to Revenge of the Sith— This is particularly interesting because RoTS has a very similar tone to KOTOR 2 and also touches upon very similar themes. KOTOR 2 could be seen as a primer for RoTS as a result. Admittedly, I’d be very interested in hearing George’s opinion on Kreia since she aligns with his view on what Star Wars is in some aspects, while also deconstructing other aspects.

Also, with regards to Disney Wars, Luke’s portrayal in The Last Jedi was a poor attempt at turning him into a Kreia type character.

Hypocrisy of the Jedi Council, the portrayal of Jedi as fallible and human in general, the butterfly effect of smaller actions having bigger consequences, social and political decay within the republic, and the similarities between Jedi and Sith to name a few.

          >but you can’t
I feel this is unironically the point KOTOR 2 is trying to make. Under the will of the Force, the going down either a light or dark path is a slippery slope. In fact, the movies (The Prequels especially) also touch upon what Kreia mentioned about how smaller selfish actions can spiral into great tragedies.

Kreia’s philosophy is “commit to a side, but with full knowledge of that side’s strengths and weaknesses”.

Yeah I remember those lines. Her point is that if you cannot levy full criticism of your own ideals you are simply caught within them.
Sith get powerhungry and careless under their rule while the Jedi have less of a slippery slope and more a mountain of righteousness they climb. Those that don't fall often end up with their heads completely embedded in the clouds (of their own farts)

              >Her point is that if you cannot levy full criticism of your own ideals you are simply caught within them.
I thought her point was in essence a more complex way of saying "let go". For the Sith they believe that you need to be willing to betray or murder everything in order to be truly free, while the Jedi believe that you need to let go of all attachments to be free. But the Sith still go on clutching at power while the Jedi cling to morality, and they both tie themselves to the trappings of their organizations, so they're hypocritical.

                Anonymous

"Let it go" or "be willing to let it go" is indeed her point and the very thing I wanted to express.
In a certain way Kreia's teachings have a very Zen like quality to them.
Escape the cycle of life and destruction caused by the universe i.e. "the will of the force".

                Anonymous

“Let go” is arguably the message of SW as a whole. Vader was created by Anakin’s inability to let go and only through self-sacrifice does he redeem himself.

That said, the flaw of Kreia’s philosophy is that to truly let go, once must become one with the Force, since the Force is the essence of all life. I often feel as though Kreia’s hatred of the Forcs is a form of bitterness she feels at spending her whole life being betrayed by force sensitives.

                >only through self-sacrifice

                >Force is the essence of all life
The entire point of the Exile is that he proves that line to be bullshit. The force is important to many life forms but it is not essential.
Kreia's hatred of the force isn't some old woman being bitter. She has the spirit of the Nietzschian Übermensch, she wants to be control of her own fate.
Unfortunately in her universe she finds out that God keeps rigging the elections to support the war economy.

                >The entire point of the Exile is that he proves that line
To be completely right. He's a Force leech the same as Nihilus, but he had the strength of will to "sever" himself from the Force enough to reduce the effects to a point where he can act like he's disconnected entirely instead of being an insatiable planet eater. He's still draining from everyone around him though, those he forms Force Bonds with especially. That's why he forms those bonds so easily and so many at once.

He was never truly free of the Force.

                >To be completely right.
He proves it to be wrong. The Exile lived for five years completely disconnected from the Force, showing that the Force is not necessary for life.
                >He's still draining from everyone around him though, those he forms Force Bonds with especially.
He uses the Force through others, yes. But for years he wasn't connected to it at all. This is why the Jedi were so frightened by him, because his existence upends their entire worldview.

Because it's a ridiculous way to fight that leaves you open the moment you get even slightly distracted.

Sidious and Yoda should've done this when fighting with sabers to show how powerful they are in the force and that they don't need to practice conventional forms anymore.

Sidious as a Sith and Yoda as a tiny guy should've been beyond lightsabre combat. Don't care if RLM said it, it's still true.

          >yoda’s dinky saber
It should have been normal size. Really lightsabers should all be long as frick or have a long mode. It’s not like a metal sword where length causes problems with weight and balance. It literally weighs next to nothing.

            Anonymous

actually lightsabers are heavy according to lucas and there are some with dual length settings. there's also a lightsaber form where the user toggles the saber on and off while fighting but it's so cheap both the jedi and sith have banned it

          Anonymous

Imma say because it's fricking difficult and Kreia could only do it because of the location and her bond to you - so extremely unique circumstances.

I mean you could hold a normal saber while fighting with others, just in case.
It's the most obvious thing in the world though. They have fricking telekinesis.

            Anonymous

And that telekensis requires more thought put into it that just swinging your hands around. You have to be concious of something outside your body at all times because it will either end up useless at best or actively harmful at worst.

Even in the situation it's shown, a one on one where the Exile is only trying to fight the lightsabres instead of hitting Kreia, it's not especially effective.

              Anonymous

So what? It's exactly the sort of thing that you'd expect a Jedi or Sith master to be capable of. It's only "not effective" in Kotor 2 because it's a videogame and the lightsabers are just being held by invisible NPCs, so the Exile can fight them normally and just lose a few points of health instead of all of them flying around his saber and bisecting him instantly.

                Anonymous

Again, focusing on making lightsabres fly around means leaving yourself open. See how good your three sabre triple cut technique is when your opponent is choking or shoving you around the room

                Anonymous

You could say the exact same thing for just fighting with a lightsaber plainly. It's always been implicit that Jedi and Sith protect themselves with the Force when fighting other Force-users. And if you say "no they don't, it's only all the moving and fighting makes it distracting so their opponents can't use the Force on them", I would then ask how the frick is being attacked by three lightsabers flying at you from every direction less distracting than fighting a guy with a sword?

                >And if you say
Yes they do but their focus is all on themselves already so it's easier to defend their bodies from Force attacks when they're using an extension of their body to fight.

Vader throws shit at Luke in Empire because he's basically rubbing in how outclassed Luke is. He doesn't throw shit in Return when Luke is closer to his ability level and all fricked up on rage.
Now imagine if Vader was trying to twirl sabres around the room while Luke's coming straight at him like a madman.

So what was Kreia’s relationship with the Sith Assassins?

The game establishes that they serve under Darth Sion, but at the Trayus Academy, the implication seem to be that they’re taking orders from her.

Did you skip the scene where she shows up as Trayus and Sion immediately becomes her b***h again

George Lucas is a hack fraud who just wanted some good vs. evil shit with no nuance and depth and honestly I appreciate that sort of media sometimes. Kreia just feels like Chris Avellone's mouthpiece to shit on the world.

George Lucas actually puts a lot of nuance in his work, you just failed to see it because you havent watched the movies since you were a kid or you are moronic...

George couldn't make a character as subtle as Kreia because the movies have to last 1 or 2 hours you fricking nitwit that doesn't mean there's no nuance or subtlety in his movies...

Kreia, I feel, is the sum of multiple characters throughout Lucas’ films.

I feel Kreia is what would happen if you took Qui Gon Jinn, Palpatine and OT era Obi-Wan and put them in a blender.

      >tfw Lucas' plans for the ST dating back to the 80's was to have some metaphysical outlook on The Force and how it affects the galaxy and even the universe

Didn't it involve a group of beings called the Whills messing with everything

I feel like a lot of people's grace for these games at the time was based on the idea that they were refining ideas that would be used to improve another game further down the line
Now that it's obvious videogames are in a terminal stage with improvements coming from stupid shit like raytracing, you can't just forgive old stupid decisions because they're temporary limits in a rising medium

I always ignore all of her teachings. Go full dark side just for the fun of it. Corrupt and train the handmaiden. And always tell the old crone to keep her opinions to herself. There truly is no greater insult then to ignore the depth of her character because she's annoying.

She didn't actually give a shit about what choices you made, light or dark, good or bad, only that you made the choices to please yourself, and not because someone else influenced you, her included. She keeps shitting on your choices to reinforce your resilience to other people influencing you.

Kreia likes it when you do Dark Side options as long as you aren’t being psychotic and edgy for the sake of it. She seethes if you kill the council members, but only because you denied her of her revenge.

She was just b***hing because she thought you were on the same path as Scion or Nihilus, even if you simply say "I don't think I'll be at peace until the Sith stop hunting me." At the end of the game she's satisfied for you to take over the academy.
