> Donphan was always a good design that looked a bit cool but a bit silly because despite looking strong and angry it was surprisingly small. > On one hand turns it into a huge mastodon, using all the cool aspects of the design and amplifying it, pleasing the crows that always wanted Donphan to be badass > On the other hand, magnify its silliness by amping up its angry side while making it even smaller, while also following its tire concept, pleasing the crowd that liked Donphan's less serious side and found it more adorable than cool
I feel like these are going to age pretty awkwardly.
Like, in a few years, we'll look back at their little spot in the National Dex and think "Oh yeah, that happened".
I'm already starting to feel that way about the Ultra Beasts.
Comparing these to the Ultra Beasts is a little disingenuous. If anything, they're more likely to be akin to Mega Evolutions. Some of them fondly remembered but sooner or later removed from gameplay.
The ultra beasts are a better executed concept of an anomalous pokemon subset, they are and look alien and other worldly. The paradox forms are fanfic tier, haphazardly turning pokemon into robots and dinosaurs through by making the pokemon mechanical looking and adding a tail, spines, fur, etc. respectively. I think of it as the difference between megas and dynamax/gigantimax, one is well done and stuck around for the next gen and the other is awkward and poorly done and will be abandoned by next gen for the next gimmick.
>The paradox forms are fanfic tier
That's literally terapagos' Power turning fanfics into reality there's really NO WAY suoicune was a T-rex or for a Pokemon to turn into a robot
As a Delibird fag I was very worried after the Kaka leak said they'd touch my dude, but frankly Iron Bundle is amazing and now i have two dudes I love. He's just similar enough to not look weird but different enough to not seem lazy like some of the other paradoxes.
Ruining old designs is the antithesis of soul

They're pretty good, but it's kinda cynical how almost all the good designs this generation are just redesigns of preexisting Pokémon.
I've only liked Ultra Beasts more as time has gone on.

Who has the heart to tell him?

The national what now?

Gigantamax, not gigantimax.
>fanfic tier
Makes sense with imagination origin theory

That's how I feel about the unova dex as a whole
This but 80% of Alola and 90% of Galar/Paldea. Quality control left the room a long time ago.

You never liked Delibird.
Feel the same way about Gallade and Iron Valiant
I understand the purpose, but damn, Sandy Shocks looks out of place here.
Pic unrealted btw
Magneton's a moron
LOOK HE'S A moron
