Is 1440p the most mediocre resolution ever?
You don't get the benefits of 4k (high detail level) nor the benefits of 1080p (high framerate).
You are just a middle ground resolution that can't exceed at anything.
1440p is the jack of all trades of resolutions.
Why post a retarded opinion that's blatantly wrong? 1440p is the smoothest most accessible high resolution out that doesn't require ai frame gimmicks
I don't use it because I still have no problems with 720p on my desktop but you're retarded if you think 1440p is bad
FPBP.
1440p still is at that sweetspot where you can still get high refresh rate gaming with a relatively modest GPU compared to 4k, while simultaneously not getting fucked quite as much as 1080p by the inherent blurriness that comes from deferred rendering and TAA that most modern games rely on.
4k is the most mediocre resolution ever
No real benefit over 1440p
Negative frame rate unless emulating
Not high enough resolution to simulate a CRT's mask
Most likely has no real HDR
>jack of all trades
But this idiom has a positive connotation
in what planet?
Earth. Jack of all trades means it dabbles a bit in everything. The whole phrase is "jack of all trades, master of none" basically meaning something or someone is relatively competent in all areas while excelling at nothing in particular. There's absolutely nothing negative about that phrase.
The 1st world, you esl nigglet
Is the UK still 1st world?
144hz 1440p is peak
1440p120 is the new 1080p60
Do you know how pixel density works? Unless your monitor is bigger than 32 inch 4K is a complete waste of resources since you won't see a difference between the 2 anyway.
You might wanna get your eyes checked bruv
retard
on a 32" monitor, you'd have to sit over 4ft away from your screen to be unable to tell the difference between 4k and 1440p, far more than the usual viewing distance on a standard PC desk setup
You're right OP, 1440p does suck
1600p on the other hand
1440p is a budget stop-gap on the quest to affordable high refresh rate 4k displays.
I'm going to wait a year or 2 before 4k displays with high refresh rates finally drop to sub $200 before buying one.
And then you have to wait just another mere decade before GPUs could use these refresh rates. Genius.
Yes
I went to 1440p because I wanted a bigger monitor.
1440p sucks because you can't display 1080p on it evenly
>1440p is the jack of all trades of resolutions.
What most people need is a jack of all trades monitor, so 1440p must be pretty great
1440p is still expensive meanwhile 1080p has remained in the same range for 15 years. Either make 1440p cheaper or I'm not upgrading.
cheap 1440p high refresh rate monitors are around $200 which is what high refresh rate 1080p monitors were 5 years ago
>1440p is still expensive
No it isn't.
Cheapest in my country are $300. I'd rather stick to 75hz 1080p
>expensive
I got this on sale for like $190 last year, Im sure you can get it even cheaper if you buy off Amazon and really shop around during Black Friday or Cyber Monday
using the exact monitor. best qhd monitor out there. you’re just an attention seeking mtf user
27GL850-B? Yep, using it as well. Good, affordable, does everything you need.
I would only get 4k if Windows scaling wasn't so fucked up.
GP. Maybe I will shift to 4k when the 5000 series and gta vi come.
based
Using the exact same moitor.
LG shills unite.
kek you a third worldie OP? how shitty is your gpu that going from 1080p to 1440p will drastically drop your frames?
im playing return to castle woflenstein at 640x480 because there's a bug that prevents the game from launching if you change the default graphics settings
Im getting consistent 60+ fps in 1440p, with a 3060ti.
1440p is trash because it can't display 1080p or 4k without scaling issues. It's a video gaming resolution only and for that very reason it's shit.
>he doesn't have a projector for watching movies
I've been using 1440p for years, I don't want to go 4k because honestly I doubt its worth it, also outside of gaming with 4k you need to enable UI scaling on everything else. At 1440p I don't have to enable ui scaling and my games look fine. Personally I can't go back to 1080p gaming at that resolution might be fine, but I would miss the extra space on the monitor especially when programming.
1440p is the optimal resolution for a 27 inch monitor which is the optimal monitor size for a desk, you fucking imbecile
24 inch is better, which is why 1080p is better
if you have a tiny desk maybe
I have a 24" 1080p and a 27" 1440p and barely use the 1080p, and certainly not for video games
I assume you have a good gpu. The reason why I'm not switching to a 1440p display is because I have a 1660 super.
you can't tell the diffrence between 4k and 1440p
>You don't get the benefits of 4k (high detail level)
You need a big ass TV to take advantage of 4K.
Which I did
Back to Reddot with you 🙂
to save your time, this thread is about people convincing other people that their specific configuration is the objectively optimal one
It's always the same on Ganker. Not even sure why I bother coming into these threads for actual advice.
the joke is there's no good displays
>you can have at max 144 fps 4k resolution
>you can have at max 360 fps 1080p resolution
>you can have 240 fps 32:9 1440p
I think 1440 wins.
>60 fps 8k is an option now
I think 4k and 1080p are obsolete for anyone thats not some homosexual competitive first person shooter player.
8k is the most optimal for playing real games since it lets you simulate a crt as long as you have the proper panel with it
anything that's modern shit is a meme besides nintendo
>you can have at max 144 fps 4k resolution
Yeah. Right.
I'm talking about what monitors can output, not what graphics cards can manage.
But it doesn't matter? Like, at all. It could theoretically output 1000fps, yet you would still be playing on 30 fps since no videocard on this planet could run AAA schlock faster.
4K or bust.
If your rig can’t handle 4K in some titles you can just use 1080p 1:1 and get an even crispier image than on a 1080p panel
>non-native low resolution on LCD panels
>crisp
>ever
Lmao. LCD is shit technology.
the fact that we're still struggling with making standard definition content look good on modern displays says a lot
>but who cares just enjoy the new shit
>he doesn’t know
nvidiot detected
>he thinks integer scaling saves LCDShit
>he thinks the pixels weren't meant to be stretched
lmao
For me its 1080/120/10bit hdr
4k and 1440p look basically the same to me where as 30 FPS bothers me the entire time.
1440p is the end-game resolution, at that point there's enough information for an AI upscaler to fill in the rest on a higher res display and have it look decent
4klets will never get the beauty of 240FPS gaming.
