It's Limited Run. All their games are guaranteed to become more expensive and valuable as the years go by

      Anonymous

Huh, I wonder why they wouldn't want to print enough copies to meet demand. Why would they want to drive the price up of every product they make? They still doing the good old F5 lottery when they release something?

        Anonymous

Because they print second batches after the value goes up and sell it themselves. Just like Nvidia does with their graphics cards.

        >Huh, I wonder why they wouldn't want to print enough copies to meet demand
They've done that for years by now. There's no limit to preorders and it's open for weeks. Downside is made to order also means you won't actually get it until months after the fact.

Up until they inevitably get caught reprinting them to stock up their physical store. LRG's days are numbered, they just kowtowed to the woke crowd and fired their community manager for wrongthink, they got bought by Embracer and they've started forcing jap devs to regionlock releases so they can gouge more. Even their most dedicated tards are rethinking buying from them.

There ain't no reason most of those shantaes don't get put in a collection on one cart other than sheer fucking greed. And they just sold pirates curse again recently in a 'blow out sale' which totally comprised of leftover stock and not newly reprinted shit on the quiet.

          Platinum.

But they're already doing the same shit with other games, they set up a japanese company to handle jp exclusive distribution called Super Deluxe Games or something and as such they release editions in Japan they're contracting jap stores not to sell abroad because it'd interfere with their LRG releases. And yes most of the JP editions are clearly better.

And in fact you can order Tetris Connected without problems even from Amazon Japan.

What sucks though is that games like Signalis with pre-order bonus in Japan was limited to 1 per customer on Amazon Japan, which is ridiculous. I got another one through other means.

but the Steamies said that physical carts have no value either???

False, see their scam regarding Star Wars games, where proper 2 games on one cart regular releases came out afterwards.
      It's only true for some.

Lmao no, that's just the narrative Limited Run wants to sell you and the cope the suckers buy into. In reality most of their games get seperate physical releases later down the line (or even before the LR release seeing how dogshit Limited Run is as a company).

The only exceptions are some no name indies nobody care about, and Wayforward games, who are explicitly in bed with Limited Run to begin with.

I can understand why that one's expensive (low print run, released a full year after the GBC was supported, no one bought it)
Pirate's Curse has no reason being anywhere even $100+ considering it was a Limited Run preorder (not even "limited")
The fact that there's 10+ copies brand new sitting AND SELLING at $400 is laughable. I MIGHT be tempted to shell out $100 just to own it but $400 is lmao

More than half of LRG releases are outright scams by the employees and/or the devs themselves. You can be guaranfuckingteed that there are employees at Wayforward who pushed to use LRG with the express intent of buying out their own stock to sell on eBay.
Their original goal of giving good games physical releases available to fans is absolute bullshit and they exist for no other reason than to generate artificial scarcity so their YouTube gay marketers and friends and scam people.

              Anonymous

              no, it's not legit, it's a lie.
Just because there is 1 or 2 fishy releases doesn't mean that half of them would be fishy, that's idiotic.
Star Wars games were a scam, they should have been honest from the start, but of course it was kinda obvious, because I mean it's Star Wars.
I personally also don't like that they release AAA games, but besides that it's fine.

LRG just finally put out Mutant Mudds Collection, which was quite expensive because only Super Rare Games released it. And now it's available even at regular retail in United States.
That's a big plus and you can't turn that around into a "scam".
I in fact applaud them for selling some LRG releases at Amazon., Best Buy etc. and just having an exclusive cover for their own store, because who gives a shit.

I really can't think of many.
Their Doom collection was and is fucked as well, because it seems no one checked and somehow some idiot set a flag that it requires a Nintendo Network account to even start.
Of course I blame Nintendo for even having such a feature inside the Shitch, but whatever.

And then LRG did a replacement months later, but did it in a very limited time window and didn't contact all buyers via e-mail.

Of course this could also be on Bethesda in the end, they were the ones fucking up that release left + right anyway.

there's bound to be a reprint right? $400 is obscene and a few years ago it was topping out at $800. Like I said before the game isn't even "rare" when there's literally 10+ copies sitting brand new on eBay. I'll wait till they crash this market with no survivors or at least until the prices finally stabilize back down to a reasonable level

Shantae is new shit (released 2018) with 10+ sealed copies basically sitting on shelves waiting for the next sucker to come around. anyone holding this game for resale is basically scrambling for a sale before the price continues to deflate and hype dies down and is competing with other sellers on the downward spiral of competing for sales. im pretty wealthy but never understood why you would want a sealed copy of a game. is it the ultimate fandom?
there are some games i would like to have a physical copy - not sealed - of but i would never pay more than a 100€. not even for my favourite game - dragon quest monsters gbc.
id rather just pirate it and love the fact that i saved 100€.

let's put it this way... why would I buy a preowned game with dents in the case, rips in the art, damaged and/or missing manuals, and imperfections in the cart/disc when a brand new sealed copy is only $5 more expensive? I only buy sealed copies in this instance and prefer to just get a preowned copy if a sealed one demands a significant markup. I just bought Marumasa on the Wii sealed at $50 since a preowned copy would have run me $40-45 anyway. In this instance why WOULDN'T have bought the sealed copy?

the list of games I've spent $100+ for is very very short and most preowned copies still only tended to only be $10-15 cheaper
                >but i would never buy it for several 100€
that's why I made this thread. I'm laughing at the reseller fags asking $400 for Shantae despite the market price being on a steady decline over the years
(thats a nice figure btw, this was a game I was really hyped/excited to find on the Wii so I'm glad I finally picked up a copy of it)

Because you know you'll be getting the complete package that hasn't been came on by 'ickposter. I'm tired of buying used games only to find out later that they're missing inserts/extras because the dumbass seller didn't specify it and suHispaniciously sticky games previously owned by smokers or crackheads. I'd rather save myself the effort of having to research whether the game I'm buying is complete and just buy new if it's feasible

Prices don't deflate now, scalpers just instantly put every new title they get at $500 and hold it there. These people even make deals with each other to buy each other's listings to legitimize their profiles basically for free.

yeah that would make sense except not everyone is in on the scalp and the people willing to price their games cheaper and cheaper will only put increasing pressure on resellerfags who think their dog's shit is worth billions
It's what happened with the GameCube prices and what's happening now in the general gaming industry. GameCube shit was $20-50 more expensive 1-2 years ago but prices have slowly stabilized if not been on the decline for a while now. It won't always be this way and prices will eventually climb back up, but at this point in time it's probably the most opportune time to collect physical games especially if you like to buy your games new

I sold my used copy on eBay awhile back and it went for $300.
This is an extreme example, but I'm really sick of limited releases charging $35 for games that you can buy for like $5. This new "limited physical release" for everything is completely retarded.
I would always buy all my games physically for console, but it's gotten so ridiculous, sucking the fun out of it all, that now I just basically buy everything besides Switch exclusives on Steam.

      Anonymous

I guess I'm okay with it; part of the "fun" of collecting is just having the physical size of your collection grow. I never would have originally bought the $5 digital game, but I'd happily shell out $35 for another physical game with nice artwork and some inserts for the collection. On the contrary, they could be real garden gnomes and charge $60 full price but the fact they only sell their shit at the $25-45 is kinda like getting a deal

        Anonymous

Ehh, It was fun when I could just up and buy any game I felt like playing (at reasonable price), keep the ones I really liked, and pass on or sell the ones I didn't without much loss, catering a great collection.
Nowadays you have to buy games at inflated prices when they say buy them or risk never owning them. Half of the other games you hope that you'll always have some way to update it, because they ship them half assed and fix them later. Almost every game just comes as a disc in an empty flimsy case, the back filled with legal notices. And many more of these fun new features of "collecting".
Nowadays I've just been catering a nice digital collection and all the money I save I spend on merch and stuff. The art books or OST imported from Japan actually feels worthwhile and has a stuff manuals and cases are missing anyway.

Thanks for this and your previous thread, it made me check an LRG release I missed last year on ebay and it was going for a whopping $5 markup so I snagged it. Might've even been cheaper than to get it back then from LRG due to low shipping costs.

I've been on an LRG binge lately and have been happy to find most games are only a $5-10 markup. Some I've ponied up the near $100+ pricetags but I've made sure that they were games I actually wanted/want to play and not just something to fluff out the collection. Why are you people upset at a company who is giving you a chance at buying games that would never be physical? They have preorders and make them games based on that so you have no reason to miss out. If you do miss out (just like real physical games look up Gravity Rush) then you have to deal with stupid second hand market. They're hypocritical as fuck when it comes to their own fucking motto of "forever physical" as they've sold codes in a box before, and will still fuck over consumers in the long run due to only doing a one-print run of a given game.

At its best LRG gave physical games for things I think would never get any but now I am more for the experience than owning a disc/cart. Physical media seems to be going towards this collectors only thing every movie at walmart has steelbooks now. I would love to keep media physical but I'm tired of the scams and over priced. I have tons of physical games if anyone wants to borrow some (come over anons) but looks like I will be going to PC which means digital. PC will always have legacy even tho its digital but it is currently the best for preserving media plus all games are coming to PC anyway and I can own my own files thanks to pirating

Even with GOG, which is the best choice for PC, you still can't sell your game, because it's a digital trinket.

And GOG also does stupid things, like for example stripping Spear of Destiny variants out when they combined Spear of Destiny + Wolfenstein 3D and existing customers lost these variants as well, unless they downloaded the package before and keep it at a safe place.

PC gaming is dead, thanks to Steam.

Full of mentally ill whales. I really liked the game Huntdown so i eagerly bought the CE they released on a black Friday. The discord regulars were all pissing and shittin themselves when it sold out so fast because they don't know shit about games. Finally the mods told them its not an official numbered release and they will do a reprint.

Same, I joined right when Senran Kagura 2 was coming out because the only info available was one tiny advertisement on their Twitter. Like shit wasn't even on their schedule/website until the night before. The shit flinging on that server when every copy sold out in less than 40 seconds was unreal. I'm glad I got my copy but to be totally honest if I didn't I'd probably be part of that shit flinging too just knowing some of those fucking losers brought multiple copies to scalp.

I dunno man, I've brought from LRG before and they were pretty quick ranging from around 1 to 3 months from sale to doorstep. I don't think i'd ever buy from Strictly Limited again, especially when physical copies of Deathsmiles were already in circulation by the time their preorders went up. Only positive i'll give is the extra stuff in the limited edition is fucking awesome.

So you aren't talking about Collector's Editions then, which take sometimes 1 or 2 years.

Strictly Limited is normally fast, but they don't release garbage like LRG sometimes does, which then needs updates.

And sure, their collections take some time, because they are exclusive and may only appear digitally after their release has shown up. That means they got tons of work to do.

No, NFT is a PLACE on a blockchain, that's all it is. It's 100% worthless and has no value. You don't even "buy" a digital image.

That's why I said barely any different. The only real difference here is it's some physical junk that has no real value outside of what people claim it does. You can't play it and you have to make sure it stays pristine or it literally becomes next to worthless. In some ways it's even worse than an NFT. The whole thing relies on collector autism otherwise the people trying to make money off it would have nobody to dump the bag on.

Digital garbage you can't sell, and even if you could, it's virtual nonsense, like digital trading cards on Steam, it's bullshit.

The fact alone that digital downloads sell at the same price or even higher than physical releases is a massive scam, because with digital you don't have all sorts of rights that you have with physical releases.

Roms are also by far the best way to preserve console games. Your physical games and nintendo systems won't last forever as I'm sure you know as we've all had consoles crap out on us and cartridges or discs refuse to be read.

ah, I see the angle you're arguing here now and I agree. However, there is still the sense of pride from ownership aspect that you get from having a physical collection. Even after the carts stop working and the disc fail to read, you still own the game; sure it's not playable at that point anymore but at one point it was. Physical collections are in a sense an imperfect form of preservation and for that I'll have to admit digital has the upper hand, but for collection purposes I think many prefer physical for a myriad of other reasons

Nobody is going to want to buy your used games for a price worth caring about and your physical media will inevitably fail without any backups. You think being able to hold it in your hand means ownership and it doesn't. You only have a license to play that game as nintendo dictates on their locked down console.

You buy a place on the blockchain, you get a place on the blockchain. It's the exact same thing.

You just don't want to accept that modern physical games have almost as much DRM as digital games and there's nothing stopping nintendo from locking you out from playing it if your switch is connected to the internet.

No, my rule is when it's a fucking SCAM it has no value, because it has no value.

NFTs are like physical bootleg copies.
Bootleg copies pretend to be something they are not, and they also have no value.
Idiots may buy them anyway, but it's a bootleg.

When I buy a physical copy on ebay, and I get sent a Steam code instead, that's also a scam. You understand that?

Selling old games on dead/dying systems for exorbitant prices to autistic collectors with zero impulse control is a scam. Not as much of a scam as NFTs just because those are beyond fucking worthless and you can at least say fuck it with the game and ruin its value by opening it up and playing it instead of just emulating it, but a scam nonetheless.

You could have gotten NES carts for dirt cheap for years.
Of course nowadays there are also some scam artists / scalpers in on it, but the point is they were dirt cheap, and you didn't get them because muh old NES, muh why would i? muh

And now you complain not because you actually want to play these games, you could have bought them dirt cheap remember.
But you are fed up because of high prices of scalpers, and because you want to be in on it as well, but missed it.

I get that you want to cling to literally the only advantage physical offers you because it'd be a legal nightmare for nintendo to try and prevent reselling their games, which they wish they could put an end to, but again, you're wasting far more money buying these physical games to begin with than anyone buying digital on pc. You won't understand that until you actually wake up and realize for every $60 you spend on a console game you could get 10-60 games on pc if you're smart and patient enough, or just tons of games for free if you care less about the legality of it. And again, pc does not mean steam. People who have drm free games on pc have far more freedom and control over those games than you do yours. You'll understand when consoles inevitably try to fuck you over a little too hard and you flee to pc. For me, paid online was the last straw.

Not even just drm free games. Most steam games only use the basic steamworks DRM that can be trivially "cracked" by anyone using existing tools, so you effectively have way more control over the game than you'd have over a physical switch game whose DRM can't be bypassed unless you own a 5 year old switch console

because publishers are little babies that scream and cry at piracy even though it's proven that it doesn't significantly harm sales, steam doesn't force them to add the DRM
now compare this to consoles, you can't tell nintendo or sony that you want to release a drm free game on their platform, it's literally impossible, the drm is forced on you.

PC games on disks or floppies are not DRM unless there's some attempt by the creator stop you from copying it or using it in a certain way. It's just a distribution method/platform.

NES carts wouldn't be DRM if they didn't have the chip inside them that was specifically designed to stop you from copying the game, that's DRM by definition. It serves no other purpose.

Is this unique ID connected to your Switch and / or user account?
                No
Is the unique ID checked with Nintendo when you want to play game?
                No.
                No internet.
                No nintendo servers required.
                UNLIKE STEAM.

You see Nintendo COULD use this unique ID for DRM purposes and lock people out, and keep people from being able to sell their games.
But they don't use it for that.
They just keep morons out of online gaming, which is based.

                >steam doesn't force them to add the DRM
This. It's 100% optional and there's loads of games without drm on steam. Simple fact of the matter is it's an option so publishers will actually bring their games too pc to begin with. It's why steam has far more games than gog does, because publishers don't want people googling gog, going to gog-games by accident, and realizing they just got gog's entire catalogue for free, even if that is an unfounded worry.
And yes consoles are literally just physical drm far more locked down than anything on pc.

But of course in theory they could, Microsoft tried to pull something like that with their Xbox and they were boo'ed out, because console gamers aren't nearly as retarded as PC Steamies.

                >for every $60 you spend on a console game
I almost never spend $60 on a console game.

It does, but it's basically laserdiscs, and it's rare.

You can run steam on all those. The real reason to keep up to date is more and more new games won't be compatible, but even W7 is constantly getting games backported to it or community mods/fixes.

First of all, the installer blocks you.
It doesn't say "not supported" or whatever, it literally blocks you.
Second, it will also block when you try to download updates.

But I can't with Steam, because Valve are scammers.

What you're complaining about with steam, which isn't even true, happens every few years with consoles. Nintendo has no account system and left all the games from the previous generations to rot on dead systems by not giving users the ability transfer them to the switch. Yet that's apparently better than pc where my 15 year old os can still play nearly every game ever made and where I've never had to rebuy any of the games I've bought.

They didn't have an account system on Wii, BUT MANAGED TO SEND all games to Wii Us with perfect backward compatibility.
Since Wii U + 3DS they have an account system, you fucking liar.
                >and left all the games from the previous generations to rot on dead systems
You could do that Wii to Wii U.
Wii U failed, because customers want customer-unfriendly garbage.
                And now you come
                >but muh Switch
No one cares, no one gives a shit.
Windows is also not new console generations.
Windows is an Operating System with "updates" that break shit.

So you buy games on Steam running in Windows XP, and you "update" to Windows 10. That's still PC hardware, may even be the same hardware, and games stop working.
That's not a console jump, but a simple update.

Imagine Switch getting an update and half of the games stop working. That's gaming on PC.

Imagine Nintendo stops supporting Switch and shuts down servers, and all games including all digital games immediately stop working. That's PC gaming.

                >No, it doesn't.
Yes, it does. Can you play your older nintendo games on your switch without having to rebuy or rent the switch versions? What you're shitting on steam for is exactly what consoles have been doing from the start.
                >BUT MANAGED TO SEND all games to Wii Us with perfect backward compatibility
And where is that perfect backwards compatibility with the switch? You know what I mean by account system. Your games, tied to an account, where you can download them to your current nintendo system. Nintendo does not have that. They want you to rebuy and rent the games every generation instead.
                >You could do that Wii to Wii U
Yeah, seemed like it'd have been a nice consumer friendly trend. And then they killed it. Wii and wii u are dead systems, no longer relevant.
                >Imagine Switch getting an update and half of the games stop working. That's gaming on PC.
You call others liars while just pulling shit out of your behind. Why. Do you have any experience at all with pc? Or do you just say whatever you possibly can in defense of nintendo?
                >Imagine Nintendo stops supporting Switch and shuts down servers, and all games including all digital games immediately stop working.
You mean like how your games stop working when your console dies as you have no ability to transfer them to a modern system? You want to just keep rebuying increasingly expensive used old consoles off ebay forever?

You sound 3rd world so money is probably very important to you. Ditch nintendo, they're doing you no favors and are not your friend.

        Doki Doki Adventure Club
        Needy Girl Overdose
        Cat Girl Without Salad
        River City Girls
        Death end re;Quest (2)
        Sakuna: of Rice and Ruin
        Grim Guardians: Demon Purge
        Bladed Fury
        Demoniaca: Everlasting Night

      >The basic mechanic is levelling up your girls chests to delicious DDD sizes.

Switch collecting is gonna be a nightmare in 10-15 years if it's already this bad. It'll make Saturn collecting look like a joke.

      that's why I'm collecting now
Seems like the perfect time to start stocking up on all the games I want and just watching their values increase year after year. I'll never sell my games, but knowing that their valuable is just icing on the cake

One day they will take away my access to digital content. At that point I will just pirate games, who cares? I mod every system that's older than two gens anyway, might as well save money by gamesharing instead of buying physical and reselling for less.

They aren't, this game is digital on Switch and not expensive at all. Not to mention how easy it is to hack a first gen Switch.

      >i always try to play the GBC one and idk what the fuck to do
Getting stuck in some part of any Shantae game because not knowing what to do is completely normal
You need to explore, talk to NPC and read everything

Enter the invincibility cheat, the game is better with it. Also look on youtube how to enter the first dungeon - game is really opens up after that.
