I keep thinking of that latest South Park episode where the boys end up using ChatGPT to reply back to their girlfriends, I just wonder how plausible that is? It's like a Black Mirror episode, how would you know if someone is genuinely writing you and not using an AI program to write the message?

You could use it for essays in school, job applications, and what not. It's a bit trippy to me, like the ultimate gaslighting form of technology.

It doesn't work with language classes, I took german in college and a lot of people used google translate on their homework, same for spanish classes, but the professors and upper level students could always tell if someone was using google translate.

Even if your style of chatting is devoid of any personality, the other person could still think that something might be wrong depending on whether your replies are too elaborate/short or your opinions seem off.

There is just something uncanny about chatgpt texts.

Yes you do. Just looking at your second response you replace periods with commas. Also you will use certain words and structure your sentences in a different way than others. Someone you communicate with frequently will notice a difference, they just may not say anything.

I think it misses an important aspect which is a clear sign of putting in a lot of effort for fairly meaningless things. Also doing their best with the assets given to them. For example, if something looks too simple in the game, it is usually done intentionally not due to a time crunch or laziness.

If you used ChatGPT, it could respond
              >I don't communicate with anyone frequently.
              or
              >My communications with others is too infrequent for them to notice a change.

                Anonymous

Nah, I'm just pointing out that ChatGPT will type differently than what an anon would type. We all have subtle ways of typing and communicating that make us different than others. If you post on Ganker enough, you'll probably type differently than someone that posts on reddit. ChatGPT can pick up on some of that, but like others said people will pick up on its typing pattern and notice something is off.

In the future people are going to communicate with each other entirely with LLMs. AI will outcompete humans in communication skills. Those that refuse to adapt will not be able to effectively compete with those that use AI, creating a sort of natural selection process. Soon, we will lose our language skills, and the machines will have won.

chances are that, as it stands, you can't really mimmick real human responses that would trick the other person
because, as the other anon said, the way you act won't be the same as the bot acts
however, as it stands shit like chatgpt and other tools like it are really useful as "jumping off points". personally, i use it like that when doing essays, so if there's a topic that i gotta talk about i'll just ask chatgpt about it, be as specific as possible, and it will info dump me a bunch of stuff, i'll look into what sounds more interesting/relevant and just search that on google.
now imagine that in coming up with conversation topics, or clever responses, or date ideas.

SOVL is when a great mind meets a technical limitation, and tries to find ways to circumvent it, or employs what they have to ensure the feeling can be best portrayed

SOVL is a bond between man and the machine, and either man dominates the machine, or compromises with it

most modern games have experts who know their way around the machine, so most of the times they dont work with feelings, they work to ensure what they can do becomes reality - which is usually replicable and thus does not have SOVL

    It's wrong.

Let me give you an example of what "soul" is.

Lets take chatGPT as an example. chatGPT's responses are created from gathering millions of data sets, then analyzing all of that data, then finding the medium or "average" consensus of that data, to form its facts or opinions.

What this means is that whatever it tells you, will feel generic. The "soul" has been lost.

This is precisely what is happening in the game industry. They are prioritizing efficiency via algorithms and data sets. For example they'll use a tried and true formula because they know it sells well, or they'll use re-use game engine that's already been developed to cut costs and time...and in the process "soul" is lost, everything becomes robotic and like an automaton

No, Soul is what your attention latches on to. In Zelda, you latch onto the music, or the adventure of playing with swords in action game where he bounces off the knights as he swings his sword and figure out annoying puzzles that opens new depth to the game. It is the exact opposite of aesthetics. It isn't feeling like you are emotional, that is too wimpy and robotic answer from a robot. You can feel like you are good person and still go to hell.
