It's at it's best when you're still new to the game and have no perks or OC's and everything is still fresh and mysterious, dark and dangerous and you're just scraping by in each mission. By the time you're deep enough to make builds and really enjoy the mechanics and whatnot the magic times are over and it's a shame that they've passed. Still fun with friends though.

Absolutely incredible. Yes, the novelty does wear off fairly quick, I'd say in 50 to a 100 hours you will become familiar with most of the game, but the fundamentals are strong. It oozes quality and sovl, makes mostly good design choices, delivers actually fun and satisfying horde shooting. Fantastic time with friends as well. I could gush about it for hours. Pull the trigger, see if you like it

Its a fun timewaster but takes a bit to get going, unlike I think the game really comes together after you can fully upgrade your weapons and start trying out higher difficulties, lower difficulties don't have enough bugs to fight and will give you the impression the game is about mining minerals in empty caves

I played it everyday from January to April, played it on and off for another month, stopped for a while and I'm picking it back up again recently.
I'd say it's one of the few games that's more fun with rando's than a group, but maybe my friends are just high-strung and bad at games.
Try out each Class with no upgrades, Pick one class and get to 25, while you're working to promote that Class play the other 3 classes again to 25 and promote once. Remember to buy perks, do the weekly core hunts, Don't go to Difficulty 4 immediately, give it a few days, but you never need to go below Haz 3 even at the most casual. Deep Dives aren't as scary as they seem, by the end of your second week playing you'll probably be okay doing Elite Deep Dives and try out Haz 4 and 5.
Remember, as far as class tips go
    >Use your Flares as Scout, light up rooms so we can see
    >Some Levels never need Gunner Ziplines, but the more woodsy ones may need them
    >For Gunner, use your shield when it gets too hectic, most people forget about it. Very effective for when you're surrounded by Mactera swarms, these flying, ranged enemies, when someone is down and both you and their corpse is getting bit.
    >Scout and Engie have the most busy jobs as soon as you enter a new room. Any random marker point from your teammates could either be begging you to give Scout a platform or begging you to reach it.
    >Go for more Ammo for Engie's sentry, if you see an Engie trying to set one up you can help him
    >As Scout, some resource veins kind of jut out of the wall and you can stand on top of them, you don't always need an Engie's platforms to loot.
    >Driller's Pistol sucks not counting some End Game mods, Throwing axes are great. Fire kills robots extremely quickly and you'll be expected to bring the fire in even on missions
    >Two abilities, Iron Will + vampire, You can give yourself a second Wind, kill 1 small grunt with a melee power attack and get a little bit of health in an emergency when everyone is down

its pretty fricking great, yeah. been playing it daily for a 100 hours now and it just keeps on getting better. a few things are tedious like getting weapon overclocks, or at least the useful ones anyways, and doing three missions for every extra weapon can get pretty tiresome, but once you do get them, they change the game so much it makes it all worth while. the community is fantastic and fun as hell, have only encountered 2-3 shitters in my time playing.

best 4 ish bucks i have ever spent (dont remember how much i paid since it was on sale), several people from here are now saying its getting stale but its because they have played like 300+ hours of it already
of course you are gonna get bored of it numbnuts you already saw everything 100 times
like, most AAA games are like 12 hours for 60 bucks and they are fine with that but this one is as bang for your buck as you can get and you get angry with the dev's

L4D is not only shitty 1-time-only disposable trash, but absolutely TERRIBLE with randoms.

DRG is literally the pinnacle of FUN with random dwarfs. Everyone has something to do, most people know what they're doing, and no one gets left behind.

Okayish as solo, nice with randos, great with friends

Got 800h into it myself but its not for everybody, you have to like the gameplay loop and the cosmetics can only be aquired through grinding. Always worth a try though, devs put a lot of work into it and make good decisions

ctrl+left click will works for almost all the stuff you'll need to say to your party.
Personally, I love the feeling of not knowing if my next party is going to be full of mouthbreathers or Gregors so one mission I'm carrying the team and the next I'm the one being carried. My friends are shitters so I always end up carrying

I really think it's worth trying out if you like co-op games, procedural generation, or horde shooting. As you can see itt, some people get hundreds of hours out of it while some just find it an occasional diversion.

how is 2/3p coop anons? fun? well balanced?

      Anonymous

3 can work but 2 is definetly too small to be enjoyable.
Just group with your bro an open the lobby, you'll get randos joining in no time. The ocasional braindead rando will make the mission more enjoyable than playing as 2.

        Anonymous

Played a lot of 2p haz5, wouldn't say it's not enjoyable. I agree having random shitters makes for more chaotic fun though.

Works fine, better than soloing with a (literal) AI drone.

The more the merrier. The more different sorts of glasses you got in team, the more varied your toolbox for the mission is as well.
If you're unsure about getting enough people, just leave your server Open. Someone WILL fill the gap. You do not even need to use mics to communicate; just ping things with the Laser-Pointer, and do some Yelps and Salutes with X & V.

    >Is Deep Rock Galactic any good,
    It's not only "good".
It's easily THE best co-op action game, ever made.

I put hundreds of hours into stuff like KF, L4D, PD2, VT... etc, but DRG not only won me over instantly, but also is soon clocking 1500 hours on Steam, after mere couple years of playing it.

The gameplay loop is just so damn much fun, and the attitude is amazing. The pace is much slower than other contemporaries, as it is less of a swarm-shooter, more of an explorative spelunking in a hostile alien planet.
The community's honestly pretty damn good, and the game funnels people to co-operate. There's no competitive shit whatsoever, everything is shared, and every surviving dorf is a big bonus.

I've shown the game to like a dozen people since I started playing (inspired by my own friends), and every single one of them pretty much purchased it the next day.

I hated them too at first until I joined a lobby and saw someone build a rollercoaster, now it's my favourite mission type

point extraction can go suck a dick
      >no MULE
      >have to lug giant aquarqs back to the middle, which make it so you move at a snails pace and can't defend yourself while carrying them
      >cave generation sometimes places the aquarq spawns so high up that if you don't have both an engineer AND a scout then it becomes a fricking headache to reach them

unless your talking vertically above you gunner can easily grab ceiling aquarqs. and even then, driller can just drill all the way around.

          Anonymous

          >unless your talking vertically above you
exactly that, was too steep to shoot a zipline, and was so high up that a driller would use up all his fuel to drill up to that point (or maybe only 3/4's of the way there, which feels REALLY fricking bad)

            Anonymous

There's always more aquarks than required, you didn't need to get that o e from the ceiling but look around the side caves more.

            Anonymous

            >so high up that a driller would use up all his fuel
maybe if you drill from the very bottom in a pit style cave. you can get high enough by just jumping the ledges and using minimal fuel to get to the upper level and from there gunner just shoots a zippy in the general direction as far up as he can and from there you start actually drilling a tunnel. i guarantee you can reach the highest aquarq with a single zippy and less than 10 units of fuel or at least within one entire tank if zippies arent an option. but like the other anon said theres always excess aquarq, you just need to look

        Anonymous

Pipe missions require someone who isn’t a joyless c**t being the driller. Straight tunnels are just so fricking boring.
The only upside is watching them reeee when you ignore them and make a rollercoaster anyway
