subjective but most people would probably think so. the only detriment is the larger screen makes dragging across the touchscreen more work, can make some games where you have to rub the screen rapidly less comfortable to play.
conversely if you have a small 3DS and play those games in original res mode you can cheese em. the final boss of feel the magic comes to mind.

I got one of those Mario 25th anniversary DSi's at a garage sale for $10 bucks. It was in great condition. The boomer selling it originally wanted $50 and said it was his kid's, but the kid never plays it. I said it's not worth much and I'd give him $10 for it. We talked about sports for a few minutes and he gave me some of his kid's DS games too. Felt like I got away with robbery.

Yes. I've bought an used DSi XL recently and I absolutely dig it. Pixel perfect IPS display, added clock speed and VRAM so you can speed up DS games if you choose to do so and homebrew works better in general with enhanced compatibility lists, one example being the far greater GBA emulation than on the regular DS models. Battery life isn't nearly as good as the DS Lite, but still quite good. Overall, I'd say yes for the beautiful screen alone, but that extra kick of power can come in handy as well.

do u need bios for gba

GBARunner 2 (the GBA emulator) can run games without a bios file, since it has some sort of an open-source rewrite of it integrated into itself, but you'll get better compatibility with a bios file. Very easy to find online though.

I'm getting fricking tired of people that keep asking these questions.

I have had all 4 of the DS models, and the DSi XL is in a completely different league than the other 3 models.
If anyone recommends you get any other DS model over the DSi XL, then they fricking with you.

        >but uh muh gba carts on DS Lite
DSi XL can play GBA games too with GBARunner2 which works excellently.

My biggest issues with the Phat DS, DS Lite, and DSi are that they have dogshit TN LCD's.
Terrible viewing angles and vomit-inducing ghosting.
The ghosting is really bad on both the DS Lite and DSi.
The ghosting on the Phat DS is less severe, but still noticeable.

The DSi XL has guaranteed dual IPS LCD's (even the fricking 3DS XL rarely has IPS on both top and bottom screens), with good viewing angles and very minimal ghosting.
        Pixel response times are good
        Color gamut is higher/better.

Not sure why you guys are saying the DS Lite has a better battery life than the DSi XL.
The DSi XL is known for having the best battery life out of all the DS models, I mean it has the biggest battery.

I own both and you're absolutely insane if you think that DSi XL has the same battery life as the DS Lite. DS Lite on the medium screen brightness setting runs for around 16 hours. With DSi XL, you'll get maybe like 7, around 4 and half on max brightness. Screens are amazing though, yes. The slot has its purposes - as an example, you can easily dump and inject save files into genuine GBA carts if you happen to have any, so there's archival purposes plus cheating's possible if you feel like editing save files.

        >nowadays
Bought it for $15 along with the DS Lite rumble pack when the DS was still current gen, actually. Don't know why you're trying to shit talk out of nowhere either, not like you're being physically mailed by my reply to the OP.

You're on Ganker, chill. If you bought it back on release, good for you. Today it's fairly expensive, honestly check eBay. If anything you might consider selling yours if you're done with the games already, quick buck.

Does flipnote still work? what about the shop? Thinking about maybe getting one

Flipnote can be used with an unofficial server:
      https://support.sudomemo.net/category/setup/

Not sure about the shop, but I don't think so. Everything can be found online easily though, even DSiware games.

    DS Lite or DSi XL

This. DS Lite doesn't have nearly as nice of a screen, but the battery life is fricking insane. Plus it's nice to have one anyway, since you get an added GBA slot and nowadays that's the cheapest option for a backlit GameBoy Advance - original and SP models are more expensive than a DS Lite.

Not him but would you consider dsi xl the nest handheld of all time?

I've been playing some ds games on my n3DS XL lately and the fact that it can't use the whole screen for pixel perfect images is a bummer. I thought of getting an used dsi xl but I ain't paying 100 dollars for it in this shithole country.
    It's extremely tempting though.

Only for the ones that don't use the gba slot. Imagine being the poor homosexual that has to play Arkanoid and Space Invaders Extreme without the paddle

Isn't that paddle at least like a hundred and fifty bucks nowadays? Kek, get fricked.

      >t. poorgay
Arkanoid, Bust a Move, two Space Invaders games and that's it I think, right? Cool gadget, but not at that price point.

You'll also need the GBA slot for Guitar Hero DS I think and all the sequels if you want to use the controller that came bundled with it.
