Well me and a lot of other people are probably just being ignorant. It's just that TVs have a bad wrap with PC gaming, especially with a mouse where you'd notice input lag the most. But it has good ratings here
        https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/c2-oled
The only thing I'd be concerned about is longer term issues like burn-in. I don't care if "they got better" a PC interface is going to be the most brutal on a TV that MIGHT have burn-in.

After C9, burn-in problems are non-existent, they have "counter-measures" to prevent that now, they're even increasing max-nits(brightness) on newer tvs like C2 now.

OLEDs has better color and picture quality, better blacks, better brightness, and no ghosting between frames.
The downside is that shit is motherfricking expensive and the risk of burn in is non negligible. I want to say best buy sells 5 year warranties that include burn in for like $200, but that just means every oled is like 15-20% more expensive than sticker price.

I have a 55" and I love it. People who say that you will sit too close don't know what they're talking about, they've never tried it for any length of time. Anyway, what I will say is that I've only had it for a few months, and I already have a bit of burn-in (uneven pixel aging, really). It's due to the scrollbar on my browser. It's not a huge deal because it can only be seen in very low brightness, but not completely black, entirely static screens. Basically the background on Ganker if you have it set to the dark grey theme. It's worth noting that I have the Samsung QD OLED, which is the same kind of panel they're putting into monitors recently, and was assumed to be more resistant to this sort of thing.

      Anonymous

Oh frick I thought that was supposed to take years not months. Any way to prevent it?

I wouldn't get an OLED as a monitor.
      Simply due to (eventual) burn-in.
While it is nowhere near as bad as it was, the last thing you want is the windows taskbar visible through everything.

The taskbar can be hidden, it's other static elements that are problematic

OLEDs has better color and picture quality, better blacks, better brightness, and no ghosting between frames.

        Anonymous

        >Any way to prevent it?
Avoid static, bright elements. Like since then I have started using an addon (Blending Scrollbar) for my browser which makes the scrollbar far more discreet. None of the other static elements had this effect, so I think it's mainly just because the scrollbar is so bright.

          What model do you have?
The current EVO panels and tech is much better at anti-burn in then the previous line.

Also, pixel refreshes happen automatically when the screen is off.

    Absolutely.

I switched to this particular TV three weeks from a 32'CHG70 by Samsung and could not be fricking happier.

Gsync works wonderfully with no flickering, colors and overall quality is unmatched, HDR games work amazing with no IPS glow or other shit, 120mhz actually feels smoother than 144mhz on my previous VA panel due to pixel response time, FPS games work great when you set a custom ultra wide resolution (3260x1440p) and black bars are actually BLACK so they don't bother you at all.

ABL / ASBL is not that intrusive if you don't work on the PC but rather use it for leisure; details in blacks even on SDR content in games is unmatched, plus you can use it for streaming with dolby vision without a hitch using the internal apps.

One thing tho it only has HDMI port, so no AUTO TURN-ON and AUTO TURN OFF.

Set up menu start to auto-hide if you're paranoid and get LG TV companion to make it auto turn off/auto turn on through WakeOnLan so you at least retain these at windows start.

    Couldn't be happier.
42' inches is super comfy and not too big at all.

Make sure you're sporting 3080 or 3080ti for 4k tho (Warhammer 3 TW for example works at ultra at about 60-80 FPS but Gsync makes it much more fluid, so you don't really mind. Ultra Wide 1440p hit for FPSes keeps them in 110-120 FPS area, so no worries [Hunt: Shodown, Chivalry 2 i.e.].

Just don't get it for work, get it for leisure.

    Pic related.

OLED is the only way to go for at minimum another decade, until microLED becomes good/priced for the consumer market. Yes even as a main PC monitor.

Every differing opinion comes from non-OLED owning plebs. I have a 48" myself (professional 4k BenQ display as my secondary monitor positioned vertically on the right side of pic, has nothing on the OLED, absolutely incomparable image quality).

Every counter point is moronic. If the monitor is to big just don't place it on your desk. If browsing is inconvenient full-screen there's this innovative technology called "windowed mode". Burn-in is irrelevant at this point with minimal common sense, also fully insured if you wish (IPS's come with day1 random light bleed/inconsistency issues anyway - and even without that the image quality is so shit they may as well all be considered used goods the moment you get them)

        Anonymous

        >OLEDs are not bright enough
it's not that they aren't bright enough, it's that they go dimmer as the image gets brighter- basically they go the opposite of what they're supposed to. Why would anyone want a screen which constantly "breathes" depending on what is being shown.

          Anonymous

          No, not as a monitor
          t. C1 owner, you don't want these things to burn in

You can cut the brightness limiter entirely if you want. You can also trick it to be always bright if you don't want to change the hidden settings. You can also force HDR brightness on SDR content too.

            Anonymous

            >You can cut the brightness limiter entirely if you want.
By voiding your warranty, by disabling the burn in protection on a screen which is prone to burn in. sounds like a good plan

No. If only because monitor manufacturers are starting to realize there a market for big OLEDs for PCs and are making models more suited to avoiding burn in and other PC specific problems. Buying a C2 now is basically being an early adopter buying the compromised product(for that purpose) at the last minute. If you can wait a bit there should be much better options.

First of all, it depends on how much income you have and your mindset around electronics. I wouldn't ever have an OLED PC monitor because I'd be so paranoid about burn-in. Constantly worrying about HUD elements in games... Unable to use basic stuff like the taskbar... Unable to leave the monitor on, and having to set automatic dimming timers that will obviously frick up your routine at some point.

And all that for what? Better picture quality? Is it worth the stress?

Also, 42'' is way too big. I have a 32'' and it's already a problem in some games like asshomosexuals where the minimap is not within my field of view. With 42'' you won't have sight of what is happening in the entirety of the screen.
