Is getting a Steam Deck worth it or would it be better to just wait for news on the Switch successor?
What are the chances the Switch successor is as or more powerful than the Deck?
Is getting a Steam Deck worth it or would it be better to just wait for news on the Switch successor?
What are the chances the Switch successor is as or more powerful than the Deck?
>Steam Deck worth it
yes
>but switch 2 soon
buy that too
I do have the money, but is that not a bit redundant?
no? you wont be emulating Switch 2 on the Deck so forget switch exclusives
but all the 3rd party games are cheaper on steam
How well does the Steam Deck emulate Yuzu and Ryujinx?
Yes
don't really know, but it CAN do some emulation
but you'll have 1/10 the battery life of a switch
Damn the Switch has a 30 hour battery life?
I get 6 hours on Warioware get it together and Links Awakening
Yuzu or Ryujinx?
>1/10 switch battery
Stop with this retarded brain "hurr durr steam deck has no battery" horseshit.
Switch battery ain't that fucking good either if you play ToTK all the time.
ToTk drains the Switch's battery in 2.5 hours.
>deck oled has more battery life than switch oled
nice
>*with a 20w battery bank
>and averages below 30fps
>which due to fucked graphs means gameplay will be 15fps most of the time with 30fps peaks on menus
embarrassing
>*with a 20w battery bank
nope, that's just battery life testing with the deck oled and it's remarkable consider the overhead of switch emulation on a more intense game like totk
>and averages below 30fps
it averages below 30 because of shader compliation as noted in the video the data is taken from, keep the coping and seething coming though
>it averages below 30 because it can't run the game properly
sounds about right
Hey just like the shitch!
>n-no u
i never expected much from steamgoys but that's embarrassing
>i never expected much from steamgoys but that's embarrassing
holy seethe
Not really
>MUH
>SHADERZ
Maybe if the goydeck wasn't outdated e-waste mere shader compilation wouldn't cripple the performance.
its funny because valve devs will wait for switch 2 release and they won't release steam deck 2 unless the new chip is capable of emulating switch 2 as well
NTA but not really. The Switch is a great Console, but the deck is a PC and can do all of the PC shit that consoles with closed ecosystems can’t. One is not a replacement for the other.
If you must choose, go Deck for the versatility unless Couch MP is really important to you.
t. Has both
Currently it is. I have not touched my switch in years. If you have a deck there is no reason to get a switch. Whether that remains true for the deck 2 and switch 2, who knows, but it's likely.
Emulators are like fruit-flies and spontaneously appear from nothing
Probably won't be a Switch 2 emulator for a while since they're going really hard on security. Switch was only so easily compromised due to Nvidia leaving a backdoor by accident
Can't emulate every Switch game on Deck. Some run better than native like Links Awakening, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and BOTW while newer titles like TOTK doesn't.
>Can't emulate every Switch game on Deck
The only ones I can think of where that might be the case are those cardboard and fitness games.
>TOTK doesn't
Dips are about as bad as the switch, but it is playable
Emulators improve all the time. The deck is powerful enough to emulate switch games it's just a matter of how good the emulator is.
I agree but they're asking about this moment in time
Despite what people say, they're not really substitutable. They actually complement each other quite well and between the Deck and Switch you can play pretty much everything you'd want portably apart from like 5% of games.
This basically
It's not it won't run anything in 1y
>consooooooom
Consumer hobby, consumer board.
Nintendo hasn't made powerful consoles since the GameCube.
Steam deck isn't powerful
Its more powerful than the switch.
True. Much less powerful than any other PC.
Steam Deck cant play games without Proton and games like genshin impact would sometimes not work during new patch updates. That’s not how Linux gaming should exist and you shouldn’t be concerned about Valve’s decision in their games.
You have to use online activation that’s required to use Steam Deck. It’s worse than Microsoft because at least Microsoft let’s you skip that process, Steam Deck is required. Also, no don’t think installing another linux OS is the answer it’s worse than common raspberry pi installments, Steam Deck wasn’t built for OS switching or for linux.
>Steam Deck cant play games without Proton
Since when does Window need to use Proton for games?
>You have to use online activation that’s required to use Steam Deck.
You don't, Steam is not required.
>It’s worse than Microsoft because at least Microsoft let’s you skip that process
Microsoft does in fact not let you skip that process.
Steam Deck is an open platform. You can install fucking windows if you want.
In fact, this is the main reason I wanted normalfags to adopt Deck en masse. Imagine a reality where they buy a Switch and complain that they can't install Windows or Linux on it, or something like that. It would be insane.
Consoles are all more in the Apple mindset than the PC mindset. People just consider this normal because they don't know that it is possible to have an alternative where you can do whatever you want with your own device.
>That’s not how Linux gaming should exist
You're right, developers should make native ports to linux to begin with but they don't and never will. Proton is the best possible solution and the last barrier to the majority of games left that fail to run through proton is still due to the developer explicitly choosing not to allow it to function on linux, because they refuse to set a flag in their anti-cheat to allow it and they're just that gay.
>You have to use online activation that’s required to use Steam Deck
You can install windows or another linux distro without ever signing in to steamos but you can't even buy a steam deck without a steam account in the first place so I don't see how it's a barrier in the first place.
dude you're comparing two entirely different purpose-built devices just because they're both handhelds
you're buying a steam deck if you want to play PC games and other more powerful console ports to PC, you can do way the fuck better if you want an emulation handheld, you only have to pay around $100 for a retroid pocket 2S which can do all the way up to gamecube and some PS2, or around $50 for a miyoo mini plus which can do up to PS1 and some N64. a steam deck is a PC and buying one purely for emulation makes no sense at its price-point unless for some reason you absolutely must spend $300+ on something that can emulate demon's souls
you're buying a switch if you want the latest nintendo handheld, or to not bother with whatever emulation faults exist in ryujinx/yuzu, or to have a hassle-free experience with joycons
The Deck makes a lot of sense as an emulation device if you want a single device that can also run your PC games.
yeah no shit the steam deck makes sense if you're buying it as a full PC
Any PC does this
thanks anon, I'm glad you're here to tell us any PC can run PC games.
Yup, and run them better than Gabe's tablet
to be fair pretty sure even APU systems run games better than gabe's newest scam
Steam Deck can emulate up to PS3 and Switch pretty well. Not to mention prices are dropping rapidly on the LCD model
>eck emulating PS3
>pretty well
Not yet.
It does on the games I play at least like Katamari Forever and Daytona
with a massive asterisk of needing to be plugged in to the wall at all times mind you
and at that point just build a normal PC
>plugged in to the wall at all times
>3 hours
What? It also charges very fast anyways
>already moving the goalpost before anyone replies
i would make a joke about hoping you're getting paid to shill, but we both know valve would want to get away with not paying for the production of the goydeck if they could
I only play my Steam Deck and Switch in bed anyway. Also worth pointing out that if I pick up my Steamdeck after it's been sitting for a few weeks it actually has power. My Switch is always drained somehow, even if I left it with a full charge.
But I usually only play for 2-3 hours before having an opportunity to charge again? And if I have more time to kill then I can just play something less demanding.
That’s actually pretty good considering that you’re inherently going to need more computing power than the original hardware.
I typically get 3-5 hours on my LCD Deck, which has less battery life than the new OLED units. This is comparable to what I get playing my pre-revision Switch.
It’s also enough that I don’t think I’ve ever run completely dry before getting back home to a charger, but I’ve come close a few times. In practical terms, it’s a nothingburger. It’s not like a Game Gear where you need to bring along a Costco pack of extra AAs to get you through the week lol
You buy switch 2 if you're a manchild who is only interested in playing nintendo toddler games.
too true sister, now buy a steam deck so that instead you can EMULATE those nintendo toddler games
and is indieslop about depression really mature?
i don't think i've actually seen any of those out in the wild since depression quest, that kinda stuff is mostly on itch.io these days
>undertale
>deltarune
>celeste
>hades
>sea of stars
>papers please
>transistor
>bastion
just off the top of my head
>"indieslop about depression"
>lists fucking papers please, hades and undertale
moron
Ok Eric
>you only have to pay around $100 for a retroid pocket 2S which can do all the way up to gamecube
you are COMPLETELY delusional if you think the retroid pocket 2 or even 3 does fuck all ps2 emulation well, it might run 3 games at decent framerate
just like the goydeck running 3 games at any emulation point at half decent framerate gets shilled as "it can do x emulation"
bitch deck emulates 99% of ps2 games at full speed at triple the resolution
your shitty diarrhea chink phone will have a seizure the moment it tries to boot up god of war at native silky smooth 240p
funny that you didn't quote "some PS2" in that sentence which is a wholesale acknowledgement that PS2 emulation is not good on the device
Get both.
>b-but I cannot afford
Get a rope instead. All third worlders mist hang.
>mist hang
Wut
>phoneposter
>trying to exclude third worlders
pot, meet kettle
Do you want Nintendo exclusives with multiplayer access or do you want a wider library, emulation, and more freedom in use of your console?
>and more freedom in use of your console?
so you're saying nobody should use steam due to being draconian always online DRM
got it
You don't have to use Steam retard.
>activates airplane mode
heh, nothin personnel... kid
yes.
haha, no.
>unironically playing the OLED screen gacha
>for outdated hardware that already struggles on most recent games and even a lot of older ones
ngmi
>unironically playing the OLED screen gacha
please please please move on from 2011 mentally
That's a picture of the two different Deck models. Why are you using this picture?
That literally applies to the Switch OLED too with the green tint lottery. Stop trying to divide the handheld Chads
What is this image supposed to prove? You're showing the LCD model at the top and the OLED at the bottom, you can clearly see the smaller screen on the LCD, lmfao.
He‘s retarded but iirc there‘s 2 different companies making the oled screens which could mean there‘s 2 different screens and you don‘t know which you‘re gonna get. Not sure if that‘s what he‘s refering to
>there‘s 2 different companies making the oled screens
It's industry fucking practice. Apple sources their iphone 15 panels from both Samsung and BOE, just like Valve does for the steam deck.
Just get a deck, or wait for the deck 2 which is likely coming out in 2 years. It is very unlikely the switch 2 will be more powerful than the original deck. It would rack up the price too high and nintendo does not take a loss on their hardware on top of other issues like battery life. Switch 2 will also be far more gimped and locked down and far more expensive overall in the long run due to the price of games.
I'm so glad I'm finally console free thanks to the deck.
>or wait for the deck 2 which is likely coming out in 2 years.
it will be out for christmas lmfao
we just got a system refresh in the oled model lmfao
Oled is a midlife refresh, not the deck 2. Valve suspects the deck 2 could be out by 2025.
No it won't
Do you already have a computer?
If you care about future bing bing wahoo games then obviously "Switch 2" If you don't care about everything else plus the current bing bing wahoo games then a Steam Deck might be the better choice
noob with switch and win7 here.
I think both are not worth getting, just get a 500 buck PC, as I will on Black Friday.
Stupid question. If you have a steam account with games on it it‘s a no brainer. Even if you don‘t you can pirate everything not to mention the constant sales. If you buy a switch 2 it most likely won‘t be hackable for a while and you‘ll have to drop 60-70 dollars for every game
>or would it be better to just wait for news on the Switch successor?
Its called lenovo legion go, closest thing to switch 2
>What are the chances the Switch successor is as or more powerful than the Deck?
Near non-existant
What's the point of a Steam Deck if I'm not going to actually be playing it outside when I can just Steam Remote Play/Screen Share to a tablet and play games from bed anyway without the graphical or performance woes of the Deck's low specs?
Obviously there's no point of it if you don't need it.
>Steam Remote Play/Screen Share to a tablet and play games from bed anyway
buy a fucking TV
steam play fucking sucks and is unreliable. playing vns and eroge on steam deck is amazing
how is the gaymersnexus oledeck video not up yet? the launch is in less than 24 hours steve, move your ass
not that one, i'm waiting for their in-depth review
>569,00€ after tax steam deck vs 500,00€ after tax ps5 with spider man 2
>ps5 is stronger
I find it really hard to justify the price point of the deck
Don't forget to include the cost of the controller and monitor for the PS5.
Sorry, not controller. The online subscription.
switch has hidden costs to it
>every nintendo game is 60$+ tip forever, discounts rare
>paid online
>can't tinker with it without voiding warranties etc
>guaranteed shitty stick drift
Better than
>zero games
but enough about nintendo consoles
This but Steam Deck
cope
Meant for
I'm trans btw
Sure
If the Steamdeck has all Switch games and the Steamdeck has zero games, how many games does the Switch have?
2
Steam deck doesn't have all the switch games
DIND DING DING correct!
Not sure, does it also have Playstation 3 games?
>does it also have Playstation 3 games?
Yes, what part of zero games did you not understand?
I wasn't sure sense I vaguely remember playing a videogame on my PS3, must have been a fever dream though.
>I vaguely remember playing a videogame on my PS3

NOT TO BUY A NEW CONSOLE ON RELEASE
REMEMBERING ALL THE GOOD TIMES WITH SONY
I'M SURPRISED IT GOT SO BAD

Bings are only Bings on the Wahoo.
So you multiply the bing... carry the wahoo... uh...
PC has all the games
>PC has all the console ports
Fixed
Correct. Piracy has been proven to increase marketing and sales for products. Piracy actively helps corporations. Good point.
It's a weird one
The steamdeck is a bulky, heavy, expensive and runs games at ps4 level in 800p when docked. But it's a pc
The Switch successor will easily outperform the PS4 pro when docked, will be smaller, lighter and cheaper. But it's tied to Nintendos ecosystem
>But it's tied to Nintendos ecosystem
this alone makes it shit
it's like buying an apple product, I'd rather tie my balls to a tree and hang myself
yet you buy into the steamgoy ecosystem
how curious
>ecosystem
you mean the linux OS that anyone can use for free that allows you to install windows, open it up to switch parts and keep the warranty and also pirate and emulate 30 years of games for free
i mean the store with always-online DRM that you keep shilling out of sunk cost over slop you bought for cents but don't even play
>he can't pirate games
imagine being born after 1994 lol
why do steamgoys hate video games and want to kill the industry?
>steam kills the industry
this argument suits nintendo better. I will never forgive them for what they did with Project M
>n-n-n-no u
do steamgoys really?
good night
Sure
You don't have to use Steam you retard.
Ok? You still own nothing
So take it from me.
Take what? You own nothing
My games
*Valve's games
But go ahead, try to sell me your property you claim to own
Ok, I'm selling my Deck. All games on it included. None of them from steam or valve. 300 dollars.
>Ok, I'm selling my Deck
Already have a PC
>All games on it included
So what are these just copies of rom files than anyone can get for free?
>Piracy isn't taking anything
Finally someone understands.
you don't even have to use steam you mentally challenged individual.
you buy the steam deck, you are not limited to steam. You can spit valve off by using ebic launcher on your deck, and valve won't even give a shit
good luck doing that with nintendo. good luck doing that in japan without facing jail time.
Consoles have piracy retard
>buys into nothing instead and is happy
>nintendo
>own anything
lol
lmao
rofl
also
>not pirating
LOL
>>own anything
Yeah. Most valuable software in the industry
>>not pirating
Consoles have piracy too
>Yeah. Most valuable software in the industry
lol
Yeah
>buys into nothing instead and is happy
Skill issue
Yeah buying DRM-hardware is definitely a skill issue.
Correct because you can just hack a Switch. Very much a skill issue, I agree. Good point.
>you can just hack a Swi-ACK!
He wasn't charged with a crime for jailbreaking hardware. You're bad at this.
if nintendo had their way, they would have a lawyer publicly execute you with a hammer
No they wouldn't
>the majority of switch "owners" just have to solder modchips onto "their" hardware and risk having it banned
Yup it definitely is a skill issue, I agree. Good point.
WTF is that in his mouth?
>WTF is that in his mouth?
The Switch 2.
This doesn't seem to make much sense. What cartridge is this that Nintendo is banning? Piracy isn't done like it used to be, today people use the SD Card or the system's internal memory to install pirate games, Nintendo doesn't have any cartridges to "ban".
The problem is that Nintendo even has the capability to ban "your" physical games in the first place.
Doubt it
See
>jailbreak
>try to play on official servers anyway like a fucking idiot
>brick
Skill issue.
>getting banned
Skill issue
>buying hardware that can have its internet access banned
>he doesn't known how to jailbreak hardware
Again, skill issue.
>he has to "jailbreak" hardware he thinks he "owns"
>have to
Not really. I only jailbreak them if I want to
>a-akshually i don't HAVE to own my hardware
You must have quoted the wrong post. My post didn't say that.
consolefags love to cry "you don't own your games!" when they don't even own their own hardware
I can almost guarantee you that Switch successor will have lower performance than any of the currently relevant PC handhelds. Even docked. If I'm wrong, it would be a massive departure from Nintendo design philosophy and priorities.
>when docked
there is no performance benefit to using a deck in a dock aka usb c hub. it doesn't take control away from its users to force specific performance profiles. the user can expend as much or as little power as they wish to
if you want power get a desktop or top end laptop
if you want good games get a switch
Just get the Deck its Steam library, free PC games and Switch games
No just get a laptop. It actually does computing things
A better question here for my anons:
Is it better for me to get a steam deck or to modchip my already existing nintendo switch?
Furries go die
>Modchip
low cost decent results, but also good chance of fucking installation up because you're infected with the furry
>Steam'eck
expensive but arguably better results with next to zero chance of damage caused by own retardation, and even if you do fuck up you can just cry to valve about it
>and even if you do fuck up you can just cry to valve about it
This of course comes with the massive asterisk of having to live in burgerland for it to work, because good fucking luck to get valve to give a shit about you if you live out of burger country.
I don't know about where the furry lives, but it's probably in burgerland anyway since we seem to have the most furries.
most furries are from germany actually
So basically it's a skill issue for you
No it's a skill issue for him, you should finish your English comprehension classes.
I'm paying a professional so the risk is basically nonexistant. My biggest issue is switch emulation on pc seems a bit rough and is kinda annoying. I just want to be able to drag and drop the files onto an SD card and basically just play.
Thanks anon
Modded console every day and twice on sunday
>i never expected much from steamgoys but that's embarrassing
?
When you talk about Nintendo and hardware in the same sentence, do NOT have any hopes or dreams
ESL
The problem with the Deck, as I see it, is that it's not really meant to replace a main PC, so it's like you have a second PC to play some games in "handheld mode", which is perfectly acceptable, but only if you If you have enough money to spend extra on a device just for this small convenience.
The Switch, at least, will give you access to a different library than the PC. And yes, you can play Switch games on emulators, but if you step outside of mainstream gaming things start to get a little bad. For example, it is impossible to play Densha de Go on both Yuzu and Ryujinx today. And the game is not available for PC.
I like my Deck, I sold my Switch.
Sold my Steam Deck and upgraded to a Dell Inspiron laptop. Currently have every platform but PS5
There's never been one device that causes this much consistent seethe even a year and a half later. It must be consolewar homosexuals or thirdie sour grapes.
Yeah switch really did a number on this board, kek
Tendie seethe over the deck will forever be delicious because they no different than the snoys who would shit on everyone for not having a shitty ass ps4
This but PC Vegans seething over Nintendo
>
i can play all ur exclusives on my phone
Not really
My only seeth toward Nintendo comes from then being litigious about bullshit that other companies literally waste millions trying to force into existence.
The only valid esport is homegrown esport and they can't fucking stand it's existence for some strange reason.
Didn't ask
>PC
>Vegan
PC can play much much more variety of things. What are you talking about?
I wouldn't worry about it
I think it's about them not sucking duck.
In the intricate tapestry of linguistic expression, the phrase "Wowie zowie" unveils itself as a nuanced portal to philosophical contemplation. The juxtaposition of "Wowie," with its echoes of childlike wonder, and "zowie," a lexical anomaly, initiates a dance of semantic discord that invites reflection on the fluid nature of meaning.
This interplay of seemingly incongruent words serves as a linguistic paradox, challenging conventional boundaries and beckoning the inquisitive mind to explore the inherent ambiguity of language. In the absence of a predefined narrative, "Wowie zowie" becomes a linguistic canvas upon which the intellect can paint its own subjective interpretation, a reminder that meaning is not an absolute but a product of individual perception.
Delving deeper, the absurdity embedded in "Wowie zowie" mirrors the inherent chaos of existence. Amidst the cosmic tumult where order and disorder entwine, the phrase becomes a microcosm of life's capricious nature. It serves as a subtle reminder that, in the face of existential uncertainty, embracing the nonsensical may offer a unique lens through which to navigate the complexities of human experience.
Ultimately, "Wowie zowie" emerges not as a mere linguistic oddity but as a philosophical touchstone, inviting contemplation on the dynamic interplay between language, meaning, and the existential tapestry of life. It stands as a testament to the richness of expression and the perpetual dance of interpretation that defines our engagement with the intricacies of language and thought.
Sure
Case in point
Yeah, that's the tendievegan I was referencing.
Got another. See
That's still the same tendievegan, anon. It's also yourself you're replying to.
Ok. And?
Sure we do. Why wouldn't I own it?
because it's a locked down DRM box and at any moment nintendo could press a button and then your games would stop working
See
Reminder that these tendievegan schizos got completely buckbroken by a device made by 30 people.
>Tendie seethe over the deck will forever be delicious because they no different than the snoys who would shit on everyone for not having a shitty ass ps4
The difference is tendies are less annoying than retarded snoys in the sense that they're simply less numerous, but they make up for it by being more way schizophrenic. Like the tendievegan who's in literally every Deck thread:
I have never seen so many utterly mindbroken schizoposters on literally any subject as I have on deck threads. It's like having a small handful of barrys eternally shitting up deck threads forever.
This is a Switch thread
'steam deck' is in the first 5 words of the OP
sold all my trading cards and csgo crates to buy this new deck
same lol i sold some knives i traded some rsgp for back in like 2014. it went up cuz cs2 and and sold em for like 1.1k or something. got the most expensive steam deck still got a littl over $300 waiting years til the steam deck 2 now lol.
im ready to buy the limited edition 🙂
What do you want?
If you want a small device that can be used as a replacement for a laptop in a good number of scenarios, and also plays games quite well, deck is the way to go.
If you want access to ninty titles, get the switch 2. You CAN emulate switch on the deck, but no guarantee about the switch 2, and frankly not every game is full speed on deck and you can fucking tell. And I outgrew playing at 20fps when I played the N64 30 years ago. So my deck mostly ends up being used for older games that it can run full speed.
I don't have a switch, but I also don't really have an interest in switch games so, eh.
is there anything comfier than the steam deck with XR glasses
>masturbation box
>meme gayming mouse
>small form factor kb for women with gayming color scheme
>THE meme glasses
>goydeck
this looks like the goyim starter pack
all it needs is the crunchyroll and netflix subscription
>Playstation Portal gets completely slammed
>Deck OLED gets fellated
I thought journos loved snoy and hated valve?
Playstation Portal is a competitor to the Wii U
Keep those (You)s coming!
which post even caused the steamgoy meltdown? was it the fucking luigi one? seriously?
here, just want to add that you can plainly see from the way i type that i am not
It really is hilarious
>PC make tendie mad!
>zero replies
>Nintendo make PC vegan mad!
>tables flipped in rage
Love it. The PC vegan hubris can not be challenged on this board. Their superiority complex is frightening
The instant PC mustard race and steamgoys in particular started shilling troonix was the instant I knew the vegan insults would strike a nerve with them.
I didn't post the luigi post however.
There's much better options out now than the steam deck.
Shit is outdated. They literally just slapped a oled screen and called it a day.
Just like the index valve is letting their shit become obsolete while still selling it to retards
And what are those options?
I don't need a steam deck.
Console tier hardware.
>Console tier hardware.
Pretty sure it's weaker than a AM5 APU.
>amd
>goyvidia shill
Literally just get a legion go or rog ally.
Newer tech with 100% library compatibility.
>Steam Deck OLED 1TB is almost the same as a ROG Ally Extreme 512GB.
Which the Ally Extreme can do so much more and has 100% compatibility with games and it's 16:9 so you don't get those retarded black bars in majority of games.
I dont care about high tdp slop
Might as well get a laptop at that point
>I like having worse performance
Absolute semen slurper.
now show me the battey life
with the oled revision the eck actually has handheld-tier battery life now and completely mogs all the other over-specced x86 shit out there
>steamgoys
>i don't care about battery lmao, it runs everything if i hit it at max load while plugged it into the wall, don't you guys have walls?
>also steamgoys
>NOW SHOW ME THE BATTERY LIFE, MUH UNDERVOLTING
The fuck are you even saying you nagger
I ALWAYS complained about the ecks battery life
It was my number one problen with it besides the screen
>I like having worse performance unless plugged into a wall
>it's 16:9 so your games aren't 16:9
Let me guess posting a selfie because you can't seemingly read.
The Ally is 16:9 aspect ratio.
Steam Deck is 16:10.
Meaning in most games that still don't support 16:10 you get black bars top and bottom.
Sorry I had to explain it for your retarded ass.
>Meaning in most games that still don't support 16:10 you get black bars top and bottom.
And what aspect ratio is the resulting image with those black bars, you mental midget?
>He enjoys black bars and leaving screen space
Absolutely grim.
>he enjoys 16:9 unlike myself who enjoys 16:9
>Let me guess posting a selfie because you can't seemingly read.
How is a drawing a selfie, and what does posting or not posting a (not) selfie have to do with literacy?
>has 100% compatibility with games
No it doesn't, unless you add mouse and keyboard. Also many older games don't run on Windows 11 at all.
Better compatibility I'm sure, 100% lmao no.
Smaller display dimensions aren't a selling point by the way. 16:9 at 7 inches is smaller than 16:10 at 7 inches.
Half Life 1 and 2 are going to Deck updates and HDR support too.
Dont ask me how I found out.
16:10 is based because then I always have room on top for a horizontal status bar not blocking the game.
Gloss or etched finish?
If you're not going outside with it, save your money and get a glossy one.
Let's put it in context.
The steam deck is basically a PS4, but with games being less optimized, so somewhat weaker.
When the switch launched it was 3x stronger than a PS3, the same would put the switch 2 at 3x stronger than a PS4.
>The steam deck is basically a PS4, but with games being less optimized, so somewhat weaker.
It's actually basically a PS4 when accounting for those optimizations, but at a lower native resolution (800p vs 1080p.)
There's no Nintendo games worth playing so obviously just get a deck.
PC doesn't have any worthwhile exclusives. Just get the switch
The Deck was my Noita machine back in 2022.
the switch was a great piracy machine, I would recommend waiting for the new switch to be announced, see if you can get a shitload of quality free games
In switch every game have a fixed $60 pricetag and in Deck you get dozen of games by $60.
Every game isn't $60 but they're often extremely overpriced
DECKFRIENDS I HAVE A QUESTION, how necessary is a case for the Steam Deck? I don't tend to drop my devices but you never know, and I'd rather not break my 300 dollar WiiU gamepad.
Screen protector (particularly the oleophobic one from Dbrand) is better than a case. System itself is robust and comfortable to hold already, and if something happens like your buttons get scuffed or your joysticks break you can repair them very easily.
I already have a screen protector en-route, I consider them necessities at this point. Thanks anon.
I meant a phone style case, one that's always on it. Something like pic related for instance.
Does it matter? Every Deck comes with a case.
After a year with it I can safely say that you don't need a case if you never drop it
or at least only drop it on your face
I bought a case but just because I wanted a kickstand.
i got the dbrand killswitch case. i love the tactile feel of it in the hand, and I have the strap accessory so I can put my battery pack on the back of the deck when I need it to double the battery life.
Just wait for the Switch 2 next year, anything worth playing on on the Steam Deck you can play on your Android phone
>anything worth playing on on the Steam Deck you can play on your Android phone
Like what?
I don't have any Nintendo games
