If you're an obsessed coomer that only cares about quality of models and their underwear, romances & cute writing like BG3 normies do then yeah - it's a great game.
But if you actually give a shit about gameplay and engaging mechanics that keep on your toes thorough entire playthrough then I'm afraid the game is just a shitty Dark Souls clone with worse combat and way worse level design.
It's a pretty good souls-clone that does a lot of its own things for better and worse. Where it surely lacks is variety in level design and enemies. The levels actually do get better as the game progresses, but they are always these tunnel-like maces and while there are some cool bosses, you'll largely fight the same enemies across the whole game.
What's cool about this game is the ability to swap builds immediately and a large amount of skills, passives and active skills. The game wants you to actively use skills instead of your usual roll + r1. If you just do that, you'll suffer. Ichor, the resource used for "casting" basically anything, is nicely weaved into this whole system. This allows you to handle hordes in a much more elegant manner than many original souls games, which always struggled with active and passive skills.
Story is a shonen and can get pretty comfy despite the edgy design of everything. Fantastic music as well.
And yes, waifus. Good character creator too.
It's on sale constantly, try to grab it for cheap, but also give it some time. First levels aren't so great, neither are your starting abilities.
I never played dark souls. How could I know any better than to like possible garbage?
>If you're an obsessed coomer that only cares about quality of models and their underwear, romances & cute writing like BG3 normies do then yeah - it's a great game.
DOWNLOADING THE GAME RIGHT NOW.
Sadly what's in the game doesn't really qualify as romances, at least not inthe sense that rpg players understand. At least not anything involving the protag.

Yeah. Fun game. It's nice & campy shonen stuff as says.
I like the main song in the game a lot. The transition from the standard melody to the short piano bit gives me a feeling no other piece of music has given me, so it always has a soft spot for me
The dynamism of Go Shiina's tracks is fucking great. I can't think of any other video game composer that can so effortlessly switching from a big orchestra with dueling opera singers leading directly into some nice flute, only to build up again to the epic parts of the song.
And I use "epic" unironically. This isn't this shitty trailer music that just wants to be loud and as forced bombastically as possible. The songs in this game have this really nice flow, build-up, that makes everything in this game more heroic than it should be looking at the cover.
?si=--07s3mDZIP8EEf9&t=42
I feel like the cymbal at the heights is always a little too much, but for the rest I agree. It's impressive >Timestamp
The switch from the sad piano & strings to a stark rhythmic piano to me perfectly conveys the feeling of "I've been sad. Sad enough. The things I tried I have failed and it's caused me great loss. But I'll continue forward to see this through to the end. It won't be a grand victory, not even a phyrric one. Just one for me that matters more than the entire world." Which perfectly fits the CODE VEIN story imo.
Love to see a fellow Go Shiina appreciator.
Hope you guys played God Eater 1 and 2 and Tales of Legendia. These games aren't perfect but some of Go's best music is in there.
I bought it on special and I enjoyed it, though I went full melee with a 2h sword that can block all physical, was fun. I mainly just brute forced through most of the game with very little strategy though.
There's are 3 endings, the bad and good ending are the best. The middle ending sucks and it is pretty easy to get and that soured the game for me.
>The middle ending sucks
the middle ending in games almost always suck. It's why the perception of choice is invalid- you either ALWAYS do good things or ALWAYS do bad things or you get a mediocre shitty ending.
It's objectively the best souls game including fromsoft's masterworks, yes, even including DS2. I've found that lots of women hate it for some reason though.
I thought it was pretty fun. It's really easy, which kinda makes it not souls-like, but it's got a good aesthetic and romping around whacking weird monsters.
The cathedral level drags though and if you quit during it that's 100% justified.
Yeah, that guy was good. Great tank, takes hits like a champ.
I'm not even a waifufag, but it's undeniable that Io was the strongest companion. Wish Jack was more effective, really liked his character and story.
Io for sure. I go UNGA BUNGA with hammers and Red Shoes so my wife buffing me with Bridge to Glory and her cute exploration dialogue is just what I needed in my playthrough.
I got this for my birthday, so I played it of course. My friend bought it for me, since he knew I love the souls games. This game turned out to be good for me, I had a lot of fun. I don't know why everyone is reducing it to those animu waifus when the game has more to offer. Some bossfights were kino.
God Eater was a cheap game Bamco made when they werent working with Fromsoft
Its success was entirely accidental, there's no way to continue the story and now Bamco has Fromsoft again so they dont have to bother
Not sure if it was really that cheap in production after all it was delayed for one year. The post launch support was a few patches and the DLC drip feed as miners already revealed that most things were pretty much done on release. All in all it felt like some unwanted child Bamco wanted to forget as quickly as possible.
It was a filler game, something to keep the devs busy while they're not working on a bigger project. They took some discarded God Eater what-if scenarios, stitched together a story to put it into the game.
Scarlet nexus devs are teasing sequels already
I like both games, but would have preferred CV to get a sequel because I like post-apocalypse settings rather than cyberpunk
Yeah, it's cool. You have a map, no reason to get lost.
The only bad thing is that one fence that any human could just jump over without effort, but that's a video games thing in general.
you're almost done with the stage. Just gotta kill this boss then travel into a completely separate map then come back and do the other half of the stage that is way worse since it's just circles that look identical.
>first part is a labyrinth you can get through easily by using the minimap or markers >second part starts with the ledge drops the map gives you a self explanatory "tutorial" >last section is the only confusing one but very linear
If you have one functional braincell you shouldn't get filtered by this. Even if you don't understand the cues unless this is your first game with with hidden stuff you should still be able to find anything. The visuals are terrible I'll give you that.
So does anybody else realize that the map is supposed to resemble a ribcage (since the successor of the ribcage is there, and also why it's all white) protecting the heart in the center?
And also why the flashback to the past of (You) becoming the successor of Blood is there, and why there's a warp point out of nowhere to an ice mountain containing the successor of breath
I can't believe how many people got filtered by this map, personally I loved it, I love the feeling of being lost in a maze in a vidya, it was a-maze-ing
>first time trying multiplayer >decide to drop my sign in this map to help someone online >everything going perfectly fine >almost at the end >the fucking retard I was babysitting throughout the whole thing just randomly throws himself off a cliff and dies
I hate this map so fucking much just because of that
>missed the mistle attached to an enemy's head near the beginning >killing that one is a prerequisite to spawn a similar enemy in the last segment
only real problem of the stage, the rest is people getting filtered by a basic maze.
My only problem was getting to the end and trying to make sure I had all those memory things before the boss fight, but there's no list of which you have and which you don't so I had to pull open a guide and visit every spot to make sure I hadn't missed any.
>there's no list of which you have and which you don't
All vestiges are in your inventory, anon.
You can also check Io's blood code to see if it's filled out or not.
Best Souls clone. Soundtrack slaps and you actually get attached to the characters. It also has some of the hardest bossfights in the genre if you play solo
It's decent but Io is basically retarded and has no personality so that might be a turn-off, or maybe you're into that idk
For me it's the Invading Executioner
Game is fun, best played coop with a fren or actually solo. Which kind of hurts it overall since you miss a ton of NPC dialouge by doing so. God I hope TGS has GE4 and CV2.
Edgy setting
Edgy character designs
Edgy clothes
Edgy music
Edgy skill names
Edgy plot Sweet cuddly Io
I love it, I feel like I'm 13 years old again
The best part of Code Vein is that they really committed to the edginess and I respect that
If you want difficulty, be sure to play without a partner. I eventually cucked at the end, because that final boss segment is moron shit.
It really was unapologetically edgy, combine that with the weeb fanservice and some bullshit level design, mad respects to the devs.
Io's body is lust personified. Ryza comes close, but I've never seen the SOFT, BOOBA, child bearing hips, etc. levels so high on an anime girl.
Defend this map
Casual filter map, some of the later maps suck though because the game drags on and the areas aren't anywhere near as complex. Really, one of the most memorable parts of the game.
wasn't there a leak for a Code Vein 2? that said, i was considering buying it several times before, might end up playing it one day, i'm still going through Dark souls 2 and i just bought DS3

DOWNLOADING THE GAME RIGHT NOW.
sounds like a win. thanks mate
Sadly what's in the game doesn't really qualify as romances, at least not inthe sense that rpg players understand. At least not anything involving the protag.
The bosses are way better than anything fromsoft has ever made. It also has functional hitboxes so you can reliably jump over shit.
Pretty much. Code Vein is to Soulslikes what Senran Kagura is to action games or Neptunia is to JRPGs
Code Vein has better build variety than Dark Souls objectively however overall as a game its like a 6/10.
It's a pretty good souls-clone that does a lot of its own things for better and worse. Where it surely lacks is variety in level design and enemies. Memory of the Lost is one of my favorite pieces of music, period. The music in Code Vein is really standout even just on its own merits.
Love to see a fellow Go Shiina appreciator.
Hope you guys played God Eater 1 and 2 and Tales of Legendia. These games aren't perfect but some of Go's best music is in there.
He reused most of the main theme in the demon slayer anime
This

the middle ending in games almost always suck. It's why the perception of choice is invalid- you either ALWAYS do good things or ALWAYS do bad things or you get a mediocre shitty ending.
yeah but
can I play it with MOUSE and KEYBOARD?
Yes
ok thanks
>Fantastic music as well.
Fucking love this shit
It's objectively the best souls game including fromsoft's masterworks, yes, even including DS2. I've found that lots of women hate it for some reason though.
Lmao good one.
Try it then, if you hate it then Fromsoft isn't for you. If you love then you can play 7 great games with similar gameplay but better everything else.
Imagine being elitist about soulslop games, fromdrones are beyond retarded.
I thought it was pretty fun. It's really easy, which kinda makes it not souls-like, but it's got a good aesthetic and romping around whacking weird monsters.
The cathedral level drags though and if you quit during it that's 100% justified.
>play with a companion
>the game is piss easy
>play solo
>turns into some prime CBT experience
i heard it's related to god eater, do i have to play the series first?
No, game happens before/during the first game, and you only see one reference to God Eater
>play God Eater 3
>shitty tinnitus inducing audio crackling during battle and only during battle
>nothing i do fixes it
Who is your favorite companion Ganker?
Yeah, that guy was good. Great tank, takes hits like a champ.
I'm not even a waifufag, but it's undeniable that Io was the strongest companion. Wish Jack was more effective, really liked his character and story.
Io for sure. I go UNGA BUNGA with hammers and Red Shoes so my wife buffing me with Bridge to Glory and her cute exploration dialogue is just what I needed in my playthrough.
>I want to objectify her in-game.
No you won’t, you’ll fall in love instead
God I fucking love Lynn
She voiced a cute girl in that MILF Isekai show, too.
Never watched it tbh, but I recently played Tactics Ogre Reborn and she was pretty great as pic related
She needs a foreign boyfriend (me).
>ywn rest your head on Ios lap while she strokes your hair
>ywn feel happy just because you made her smile
I got this for my birthday, so I played it of course. My friend bought it for me, since he knew I love the souls games. This game turned out to be good for me, I had a lot of fun. its unironically better than dark souls
anime dark soul, good character customization, sadly sequel never ever, fuck bandai and their anime IP game autism
Played this and Scarlet Nexus, preferred this, but somehow scarlet nexus is the one with more potential or whatever
God Eater was a cheap game Bamco made when they werent working with Fromsoft
Its success was entirely accidental, there's no way to continue the story and now Bamco has Fromsoft again so they dont have to bother
Fromsoft is trying hard to publish independently, so Bamco is going to need to dig up the lessons they got from making Code Vein one day
Not sure if it was really that cheap in production after all it was delayed for one year. The post launch support was a few patches and the DLC drip feed as miners already revealed that most things were pretty much done on release. All in all it felt like some unwanted child Bamco wanted to forget as quickly as possible.

Defend this map
i actually like it
I never get lost, I accept that people got confused but I don’t get it
>inb4 it all looks the same/loads of dead-ends
Okay but I still didn’t get lost
Yeah, it's cool. You have a map, no reason to get lost.
The only bad thing is that one fence that any human could just jump over without effort, but that's a video games thing in general.
is that the cathedral? Yeah, that was dreadful. But kinda unique.
>that piece of art is just the artist's shit in a jar
Wow how stinky! But hey it's unique!
I've played dungeon crawlers.
This is baby difficulty in navigation.

Holy KINO
10/10 confirmed

Both visually cool yet repetitive, not really a problem to navigate though.

Best Souls clone. Soundtrack slaps and you actually get attached to the characters. It also has some of the hardest bossfights in the genre if you play solo
>bossfights
Now I remember how I fought this guy
fucking good memories
I actually loved Code Vein. The Cathedral level is peak performance and only no-taste shitters get filtered by it
Consider big mia
Surprisingly fun but I dropped it an hour in twice before getting into it.
It's decent but Io is basically retarded and has no personality so that might be a turn-off, or maybe you're into that idk
For me it's the Invading Executioner
Mido is still a pretty good antagonist. (Also has a banger track)
That fight also took me a good while. Fucking circling homing blood projectiles.
Why are Sho Hayami villains always so fun?
He was harder to fight solo than 95% of bosses in the Souls series
Game is fun, best played coop with a fren or actually solo. Which kind of hurts it overall since you miss a ton of NPC dialouge by doing so. God I hope TGS has GE4 and CV2.

The best part of Code Vein is that they really committed to the edginess and I respect that
>egdy
>the run around in your hideout showering your ai companions with gifts
>so that they send you cake when you start the next level
>edgy everything
Except the personalities
Yakumo is a literal child soldier and he's the sane man of the group
If you want difficulty, be sure to play without a partner. I eventually cucked at the end, because that final boss segment is moron shit.

It's mediocre
No; it's a mediocre souls clone.
Io...
Cute
I want to do horrible things to her like holding her hand and cuddling. Mods will not stop me.
Sex with her one bare foot
Wasnt a trophy of looking upskirt of a female in the game?
Also where is Code Vein 2 anons...
waiting for the loading screen to finish
I just checked Steam and there isnt one (maybe on consoles) but I know Lollipop Chainsaw has an achievement for looking up Juliet's skirt.
>Also where is Code Vein 2 anons...
God eater/Code vein devs are working on something, but I'm not sure it'll be a code vein sequel.
I believe in Code Vein 2!
That was Nier Automata
Wasn't that achievement about spending enough time playing with 2B's skirt destroyed?
Nah, it was looking up it multiple times. CV doesn't have any such achievements.
Cute
Btw, didn't we use to have a Code Vein schizo? I think he hated the game and always praised Scarlet Nexus to oppose it. Does anyone else remember him?
I think so yeah, CV had a lot of schizos posting in general.
wasn't there a leak for a Code Vein 2? that said, i was considering buying it several times before, might end up playing it one day, i'm still going through Dark souls 2 and i just bought DS3
If you're talkin bout Code Angel that ended up being a gundam thing
nvm i meant code fairy
You could only look at her but not touching her.
yeah but io a shit though
Io is the best girl in a Souls-like.
.
And?
>Main girls are a tree and a plank
>he didn't get the true ending
She still a Tree in True ending
>he's unaware
What when MC says IO in the end ??? thats too vague anon. Just let it go, TreeIo will stuck as tree to protect the city
Your character literally turns around and says Ios name
Then moves out with Mia and co. after saying goodbye to TreeIo
KWAB
Nope screen fades to black right as you say her name
Yes and its easy to assume its you saying goodbye, not TreeIo joining you
Literally just assuming. You said it yourself
Yes an assumption.
Iofags cope by saying Io joining (You)
Logicalfags assume (You) saying goodbye to TreeIo
Cope
I lost the will to keep playing after missing one of the optional vestige things and getting one of the bosses killed.
Well the good news is there's an achievement for getting all the endings on one save file so missing out on getting the perfect ending first try isn't the end of the world.
For me the best girl is always the garden gnomeess
Io is not for lewd
>nicola's hat flaps not also going off-screen
151cm
18 years old
Flat tits
Wearing tall hat and high heels to make her taller
ToT
For me, it's Karen
>The MC could have lived with this if the Queen wasn't an issue
I would rather live with the Queen.
I really wish she got more screentime.
>Io
>Cruz
>Karen
>Mia
my harem
Cruz a SLUT
I am an autist who complete misjudges social cues but she came across flirty during the flashback thing. I liked her.
Is bamco kneeling to ESG ? Maybe thats the reason why we dont get Code Vein 2
Do you miss out on much if you play without a companion?
They have ambient dialogue.
Great character creator
cute girl, anon
>Great character creator
needed more outfits
mastering everything as you unlock them, never staying to one style.
yeah definitely the outfits were lacking
what's the most fun way to play this game
for me it was the bayonet rifle, really unique
Depends on what you enjoy. I personally like the "big damage in one hit" kind of builds.
this
but dont go all sorcery, try actually using ranged attacks and then go in for the armor attacks to recharge
For me, it was the halberd weapons focusing on passive and active attack skills, no spells.
Later on, you get a blood code that combines heavy weight attacks with some aggressive spellcasting, that one was enjoyable too.
Base game is good. Avoid the DLC.
mio
Can someone please tell me how the fuck do I adjust my character's height? I want her shorter.
