      Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The motion capture fricked up everyones faces, the face is modeled after the VAs face, and she looks much better irl

The atmosphere was incredible, combat powers you get through the game are cool, combat itself is repetitive, story was ok, MC wasn't moronic ugly but had too strong a chin. Graphics are incredible if you have a good enough pc, idk about console. Did I miss anything?

Oh and if you like Alan Wake there's a dlc that gives you some more of his story. I haven't played it yet though.

it's a floaty shooter, it's like a modern PN03 but without the music gimmick and sexy outfits trading them in for particle and physics showcase and a Twin Peaks meets XFiles story.

just don't play control with subtitles on. there are characters, there are characters who speak in sound effects that the sub translate into regular English and it kills the entire psychological vibe.

Even if you play without subtitles you get the subs with translated text

Yes, it's actually very good but the first hour or so is shit because you literally cannot do anything that makes the game fun.

It's a mechanicly competent albeit uninspired. The setting is interesting but the characters are dogshit. It's solid buy on sale fodder

    >start the game
    >play one hour
    >you just have to walk to rooms and talk to people that don't say anything
    >pick up 70 long ass documents you are supposed to read in the "extra" menu
    >dropped it

Fun gameplay with cool worldbuilding but a horribly lame ending. DLC's are better.

I disliked it at first, but eventually, it did kinda grow on me. The early game (which last for quite a while) is really kinda shit. The combat in this game is never great, at it's best (when you have multiple powers to play with) it's still at best a shallow power-fantasy, and early on, with minimum powers and weapons, it can be boring or actually quite frustrating at times.

The game's biggest strength comes from it's level and environmental design. The game really does do a GREAT job with the metroidvania structure, but that really only starts to fully manifest around early mid game or even later. The way the different areas open up, loop up to each other, the sometimes huge side areas that are entirely optional, and the fluidity to movement between them, are all really cool. Once you get some sidequests, some powers to play with, and start opening the world up, it becomes very satisfying. As much as I disliked many other aspects of the game, The Oldest House is genuinely an amazing environment, and it's a joy to explore it. The very fluent nature of the environments, together with superb art direction give the game a great atmosphere.
But again - all of this only starts kicking in once you get through the boring and frustrating early game, where it really plays as a subpar 3rd person shooter.

Also, the story is PURE GARBAGE. The settings are really cool, there are some funny characters, some fantastic voiceacting at time, tons and tons of REALLY COOL setpieces and individual ideas... but the actual main story? It's beyond fricking moronic, and it gets increasingly bad, with the ending being pretty much a fricking insult to the player.

I'd say - if you are patient enough, and just want to spend 15 hours exploring very moody, and genuinely imaginative, strange environment, it's worth a run. I originally gave up like 6 hours in, but on my second attempt, I finished all of the games side and main content, and did not regret playing it.
