All the screenshots caught my eye, but it turned out to be a dull chore to play.
One of the few games I've abandoned because I was getting nothing out of it. Even bad games usually have something interesting to them that pushes me to see it through to the end.
when you start the game there's a little yellow hologram who pops up out of the ground
he'll generally point you in the direction you should go, which is east for the first part of the game
he'll also point towards shelters and stuff. You'll see it
No. Like Pathologic, this game is for contrarians who are so far gone that they refuse to play any game that might even approach something called "fun". Just terminal cases of contrarianism.
Difficulty comes from lack of in-game knowledge more than anything else. You're thrown into the deep end of the pool to either sink or swim.
It's polarizing, to be sure, but for those who can enjoy that sort of punishing, trial-and-error experience, it's phenomenal.
It will make you frustrated and hate it and want to break things until you accept that videogames aren't solely about beating a straightforward challenge, but being a complete experience above concepts like winning or losing.
One of my favorite indies to this day, learning to master the otherwise difficult controls of a prey animal into becoming an apex animal doing backflip spear chucks feels great. Also perfect sound design and atmosphere for the aesthetic direction they chose.
cont because I feel like I have more to say than just that
Rain World is so uniquely good that it has made me reevaluate every other video game that I have played in the past and will play in the future
My eyes have been irreversibly opened to the conventionality and predictability of other singleplayer games
get wooden sword, upgrade to iron sword, upgrade that to steel sword, etcetera
what is the point? why is this all happening? pure manufactured, FAKE progression if you ask me
Rain World is a game with real progression and a real sense of growth, not just "number go bigger" bullshit
Real threats and obstacles, not just easily learned and countered repeating patterns
A real world with a real history, not derivative fantasy/sci-fi land #2394
it does so many things so well and in such clever ways, it makes almost every other indie game look like it's been made by a bunch of 5 year olds
I tried this game and it's fricking boring
I also already got spoiled on stuff like the enemy that pretends to be a pole so it wasn't a surprise when I saw it
shitty game
Yes, but you'll hate it.

If you like feeling an immense amount of stress while playing videogames, then yes
It's my favourite game of all time
Downpour is real and releasing, right anons?
R-right?

but you'll probably get filtered and drop it. Just try again after a couple weeks.
not OP but i dropped it twice in the past
does it help if i follow a guide for an hour or two to help me get settled?
don't look up anything except movement mechanics
if you're not sure where to go, follow the little yellow guy. He'll guide you forward
i dont even remember a little yellow guy...
but it takes nothing to install the game again so here goes nothing

It's great, superb, outstanding, it becomes a masterpiece with mods like camera scroll and Expedition.

Every western dev is this way now, either go full-weeb or just learn to ignore it.
>ignore it
but where else will they get their vapid outrage from?
>Every western dev
Nah. Plenty of them want nothing to do with political activism.
anti white racist too. also abliest, mocking people unable to form sexual relationships
I guess I'm getting a no for me personally

>guy asks about game quality
>other dude talks about dev
>it's starting
this is why we can't have fun threads anymore
It's good but the artificial difficulty takes some of the charm
they'll add some options to disable annoying shit tho
it's like the Tarkovsky of indie games
It's great but you have to put effort in.
ive been filtered twice now
i think i'll re-install it tonight
do it, it'll be fun
joyous suffering and murder
ITs great
it's not fun, please don't play it
It's my favorite game of all
