Does the DC fix the lack of endgame mission variety? I loved the game, but at a 150 hours I felt like I'd done everything I could to squeeze out of the game.

It's very coherent and completely of its time in a weird way. It's the only game that feels of the Trump Era and about the Trump Era that isn't completely moronic and insane.

You call this a clusterfrick of underdeveloped ideas. All of its contemporaries were just mocapped hyper-detailed women screaming into the camera for four hours followed by credits.

I diagnose you with Mule Syndrome. My Prescription is that you either go outside or at least play another game.

So describe the gameplay and then claim it's not underdeveloped.

How? It's pretty simple, you deliver stuff in an open world game with deep storytelling narratives and complex plot points with very good cinematography while mixing mystery and intrigue with horror plot elements. Includes driving, shooting, melee fights and sneaking elements. It has everything.

You plan hikes through various environmental hazards trying to optimize a delivery load so that it doesn't throw you off balance and your load takes damage. Along the way, aside from environmental hazards such as steep cliffs, running water, ravines, rocky terrain, slippery snow fields and various dangerous weather conditions, you will also be acosted by different human and super natural enemies that will try to kill you and destroy/steal your cargo. You have a variety of tools for subdoing human enemies and defeating spectral enemies, or avoiding them entirely with Metal Gear-esque stealth mechanics. There's also a resource management sim for developing better hiking equipment and building infrastructure to protect against the various hazards on your hikes, an online component allows you to share structures with other players online, a mechanic that comes to a climax in the final mission of the game where all your structures are disabled by the last boss and you have to rely on what other people have left to get across the finish line.

The narrative sometimes takes away from the story, as most of the focus of its creation seemed to be the story. A game where you play as a courier in a world full of Konstanz sounds fun, but it also needs a single tag to make it better. A time limit, better use of the monster/how to deal woth them, maybe even world exclusive sidequests. Something like that

No, I think every idea is extended as far as it builds upon the other ideas. Every building has a practical use, every mechanic is meant to deepen every other mechanic.
The issue is really the difficulty and how difficulty is made in Death Stranding. It's the main limiting factor of the combination of all the ideas in a cohesive manner. As it is now, all the mechanics seem skin deep because you never have to dig deeper, you have to choose to do things in a seemingly overly complex way for fun, but if it was more difficult then you'd have to use all the tools at your disposal to succeed.

How does this relate to what I said at all? This would be like if you played crazy taxi and the default was online and online made all the pickups and destinations just in a straight line with no timer.

          >and online made all the pickups and destinations just in a straight line with no timer.
moron alert! You don't do this in Death Stranding either. And there is timers. 🙂

Can you imagine if this was a movie? it would be the most boring pretentious trash. It only gets a pass because of Kojima

Can you imagine that it's a video game so you don't have to worry about it?!

No, because so many things about the story in DS are specifically made to be experienced in a videogame medium. It's not structured like a movie and the film medium could never do it justice. Which is why the actual DS movie from A24 will have a completely different story but it's set in the same continuity as the game.

I love the way the game lets you scale your difficulty dynamically through all these little choices that affect the gameplay and objectives. And mathlets over here pretending travelling salesman isn't NP-Hard

DS2 looks so cool. Forest fires, floods, earthquakes, the new environments, ability to take off the backpack during combat. I'm glad that Kojima didn't abandon the concept of the first game.
