    Not at all

It's pretty fricking good, the setting is immaculate and the themes, even if they've been talked about time and again, are presented in a cool way, actually using videogame mechanics.

Also, if you like megastructures, there's some good stuff in this.

Just ignore whatever moronic political discussion is going on about it and play if you're into slav-depression core and enjoy a little discourse on religion and being good person.

homie I've lived in both and for all their differences, parks and greenery are dead fricking easy to find in both eastern europe and the UK once you leave cities, and even then every major city has a giant ass fricking park
why do you insist on making shit up

Yeah, I've lived in both as well, and parks and greenery are mostly sterile fake shit in UK- literal walled gardens with barely any trees that close after 8pm. You can walk for miles on their endless depressing housing streets without seeing a single tree, a small park, or even a playground. Their national parks are a fricking sad joke too.
EE has a LOT more real nature with way cooler terrain and mountains, and a lot more untouched natural forests. As someone who loves winter and mountain sports, living in the UK was hell for me.

Nope. I'm simply trying to prevent people from making the same mistake as me. Leaving the UK was the best decisions I've made in my life and I've never been happier and healthier since.

              >Nah, eastern europeans actually paint their houses so they looks like finished, habitable buildings and plant lots of trees on their streets.

Lol, as if the depressing, unpainted, full of mold brick houses with a 18th century insane asylum/child labor facotry aesthetic are any better. Your entire perception of what EE is like seems to be based on something you've heard from some TV show in the 80s.
It's a good thing most bongs are so delusional, sheltered and ignorant to the rest of the world because if they go and actually see how people in Poland live for example, they would cry, shit and kill themselves out of pure envy and pity for themselves.

At least you could have gone for the Baltic ones, which are less politically depressive, but also more alright looking.

I'm from the uk but I've travelled to probably 20-30 countries in the past, comparatively speaking it's a shit hole but considering you came from eastern europe you were probably poor as shit and lived in the worst parts of the uk like london or birmingham. There are genuinely nice areas in the UK but its only for those with money. I dont know why all these poor people from third world countries keep going there, pretty much any EU country would be a better choice.

                >you were probably poor as shit and lived in the worst parts of the uk like london or birmingham
Nope. I was actually pretty well off, working in IT and getting a pretty decent salary, while living in a nice (by british standards) 90% white small town. Statistically, I was making more than 80% and had more savings than 95% of the people in my age group, for reference.
I would have never touched London, Birmingham, or any of the other big city shitholes with a 10 foot pole.
It's funny that pretty much every time I engage in such a debate with an online stranger, it ends up being the other party making literal shit up about me - I MUST have been poor, ugly, dirty and didn't speak the language because there simply is NO OTHER way on earth I could have not enjoyed living in the glorious heaven on earth that is the UK. Lmao.
That shitstain of an island needs to get nuked for the good of humanity, so some fool who has read posts by massive homosexuals such as yourself don't end up actually falling for the trap like I did.

Top 20% is still poor, I said upper class not middle class. If you make 50k a year you aren't living in the actual nice areas of the UK. I also never said the UK was generally nice I literally said it was a shit hole for anyone but the rich.

If you're upper class in the uk then you can afford to move to a million other places that offer much better conditions. Being rich in the uk will at most grant you a nice house to live in but at the end of the day you're still stuck with the shit weather, bland nature and lack of shit to do.

                Anonymous

Sure, I probably agree though it depends a little on preference, some of the scenery in Scotland is very nice and suits the shitty weather. When you travel enough you realise most nice places are the same and people are fundamentally quite similar so once you have a nice house and live in a nice community with good scenery it doesnt really matter where you live. I do know this exists in the UK, it exists in most EU countries too but not all.

the unfortunate reality is most EU countries are a cultural deadzones outside the UK, france and Scandinavia, so if you care about culture and wanting to make it you dont have many options.

Maybe if it were the 60s til 80s I would agree with you but I don't think you have a realistic idea what life in other countries is like. The overwhelming contemporary culture in the uk is very mongrleized, mostly with negative influences from low class immigrants. I also believed that i was going to a culturally superior place before I lived there but I was deeply disappointed once I quickly realized the reality of it. Barely anything good has come out of British culture in the past 2 decades

More that EE has a long history of bleakness due to the USSR's rule, so they take inspiration from that. You don't see the same sorts of thoughtful themes out of the UK because for some reason despite the same bleak autocratic rule by out of touch managerial monsters they have always seen themselves as free when they aren't. Eastern Europeans at least seem to know what real freedom is supposed to be.

I think it is an important distinction to make for the sake of accuracy. Just like US, USSR's quality of life and government differed wildly across the states. During its golden years, certain regions were doing better than they are doing now.

It's hard to derive truth claims in a nihilistic vacuum. I find existential nihilism, the "point" of it, to presuppose metaphysical value in the act of making your own meaning. It demarcates a good in a world with no good or bad. It also presupposes that we're atomized agents that come up with values from the ether. In other words I would posit you're never truly going to make up your own values, as the knowledge to conceive of values has been passed on to you by individuals, education, cultural osmosis, how you're digesting your food, etc.

Absurdism is the only correct answer. It's a shame Camus died before he could write more, but even his death only affirmed his position. He died in a cab he had taken after changing his mind about taking public transport, train ticket in his pocket.

Because what you are is a bootleg Christian whether you like it or not, your greatest attempts to derive meaning and value from life will ultimately be a bastardised, twisted lurch toward ancient Christian values instilled into you and your cultures programming. Alternately you will seek meaning from Art and culture which itself believes in nothing but money and political manipulation. At its worst you will seek happiness like a selfish monkey and be faced with a nihilistic existential crisis, provided you aren't severely below 100 IQ.

Until you find some alternate grounding for meaning and value you will exist in the "middle ground" which is the decaying corpse of Christianity that is only sustained by ignoring your position. I am not religious but I have understood how arrogant it is to presume you can ignore your core value and meaning based programming and rewrite it without the use of some other form of religion.

what happens if your society shifts, what happens if you're removed from external support framework, get divorced, lose your career to AI, worst of all what happens if you achieve all your goals and dreams? does the thing that brings you meaning still function?

Its about people currently in a shitty place in their lives and they talk to each other about it, some using religion as release and some being terrified of it, the main character has a voice in her head that may or may not be Satan talking to her. She is thrown out by the other nuns and goes on a journey where she meets all kinds of fricked up things and people. I really enjoyed it, it helps if you enjoy the kind of rambling about the meaninglessness of life that Russian philosophers and authors love to put into them.

It liked the devil. It seemed like he was doing a Nietzschean critique of Christianity at first, but it was at times too nihilist. The ignorance of what evil is even supposed to mean is a trait of the Uebermensch. But it was still good enough to be enjoyable and an interesting critique of Christianity. It inspired my imagination, so I like it.

I don’t know how you will enjoy this, if you are a /misc/ Christgay. I am only going to read the thread after sending this comment, so I can predict this thread fairly. But I still like that this game exists. The devil is literally me btw. He is how I would argue with a Christian, if I really wanted to engage him. So that is why I like his portrayal so much. He is just the personification of her own inner rational scepticism, not an external entity.
