No one really comes around here for creative purposes anymore. Jannies went gestapo-lite and everything gets banned/deleted if it doesn't fit within a narrow set of the allowable.

There's nothing to really visit here for, and eventually inertia that's keeping the old guard here will run out. This isn't a place for people to talk about traditional games anymore, it's just Ganker-lite: you are here to b***h, fight with people about minutiae, and call people random and unprompted slurs. Anything outside of that narrow purview is verbotten by the majority of the userbase.

Morons like to cry about nazimods destroying """Ganker culture""" or whatever, but the culture itself is what's rotten; snapping your fingers and replacing the current mods with a competent and experienced team wouldn't fix a thing because ultimately it's not the mods jumping in when someone dares to enjoy something. It's always users dogpiling each other for not engaging in groupthink, for thinking a game can be nice, for liking a different part of the hobby, or just not vociferously hating gay people enough.

Most of the old guard has left ages ago, for a "guard" they were surprisingly fairweather and most interested when Infinity was big. Now it's returned to its proper size but still brings in plenty of new players. My entire group got into it in 2021.

Honestly the site is probably not doing as well as it was, and the new administration since Hiro came in is clearly more interested in cash, do they want Ganker to both retain its old user base while attracting the right wing trump supporters and election tourists for sweet add revenue. On the literal place where they direct you to BUY AN ADD, the site advertises 2 million users who are pretty active, and I'm guessing this is all a preemptive way of disallowing anyone of disproving that

Warhammer is shit so you might as well prohibit talking about it at that rate. In general forced positivity is what kills all real conversation, most things in the world ARE shit and people need to be able to call them just that. Any other stance turns conversation into unpaid advertising.

                >Bring back the IP counter (why is it gone now????)
It added nothing positive to threads. People were only using it to try and play internet detective and identify individual posters, which goes against the entire concept of the site. Schizos already do enough of that without giving them helpful tools.

PS. Just admit that what you want is a board where no one disagrees with you about anything.

You can't force a change like what's needed. Like I said the rot lies at the heart of Ganker's "culture." The only way to change it is to change the people that make up the user base, and given that Ganker is an anonymous no-login no-signup website known chiefly for pedophilia and birthing QAnon, I don't think we're going to be pulling in a better sort of user anytime soon.

That's not even true. That kit was in production for years after release. The original design dossier had the confederate flag, but the miniature was never painted with one.The reason they keep discontinuing shit is because their limited production cannot maintain all their SKUs, and that they keep repackaging miniatures into larger more expensive bundles. They also discontinue shit if it doesn't sell well, because CB are a bunch of homosexuals who would rather ignore issues and move on to new products rather than fixing anything.

The game has been losing traction between COVID killing off many communities, GW getting its bearings somewhat more right recently, inertia in terms of game development and bunch of other reasons, some of which being completely natural like people getting older, less invested etc. I don't think CB has been handling the game very well, and I think most of the talent that has sculpted hit models (along with painters) has evidently left the company a long time ago. Doesn't help that since N4 came out the majority of effort seems to have been going into Warcrow and now that it is revealed to the public, it's hard not to scratch your head at that move.
The general on /tg/ has been resigned to dying for a while now and recently I barely even go there. Little to no discussion about the game itself, the handful of dedicated drawgays and likewise posters that used to hang around are gone. And you can't really have any real discussion anyways, as for the past few years any criticism of the game gets droned out by autistic screeching of several schizophrenics populating the general that will immediately accuse anyone attempting at it of being some imaginary doomposting anon they've been virtually obsessed about. There are more intellectually invigorating disagreements in the fricking 40k generals of all places from what I can observe.

Motherfricker you can't talk about Infinity in anything but the worst light possible in its own general without getting accused of being an SJW shill troony. Two people making lazy "lol ESL" posts does not counter the actual climate of the general being incredibly hostile to anything having to do with the game itself.

God the absolutely blatant lying in your post is astounding. Literally 180-degrees off of reality.

Pretty much. 40k players know and generally accept GW is a shit studio at everything they do and touch. But CB shills are a completely different breed of schizos. I once mentioned and argued against NA2/NA2-styled sectorials a while back, and was lumped in with the ESL "crowd". Even though English is my first language and at that time, it was a return from a long break from the game (that break, by the way, has become permanent). Everyone who disagrees with CB or dislikes anything Infinity is one person that's made it their mission to take the game down for years. If there is anyone who's made that their mission it's CB themselves.

CB shills have hardcore parasocial entanglement with the company. The facebook groups are insufferable and you can't discuss anything there without a power-tripping warcor jumping down your throat.

    1) CB is switching away from the anime-esque style. The sculpts are still (mostly) good, but they are leaning towards generic tacticool sci-fi now.

    3) The height of Infinity was when 40k was at its lowest point. Now that GW kind of got their shit together, it becomes harder to compete.

It's really a shame that it's the fate of every miniature wargame to eventually shoot itself directly in the foot, and only GW has enough funds to shrug it off and keep going as if nothing happened.

Tbh I found the anime look, at least in the promo art, tended to put people off more than get people on board.

Might've gone better if it leaned more into that 80s-90s anime look rather than making everything SHINY, it looked like someone had a copy of a "How to draw Manga" books.

      >2) 4th ed is not bad but not great either.
It just feels like N3.5. Like you said N4 isn't bad, but it still has all the problems of N3 particularly all the bloat.
      >3) The height of Infinity was when 40k was at its lowest point. Now that GW kind of got their shit together, it becomes harder to compete.
It was really a lightning in a bottle. At that time, they were the only studio offering such a different experience with ARO, sexy anime minis, sleek scifi look, and all while most other 4rd party studios were just imitating GW. I think GW is headed towards another lull, but this time around CB has a LOT of competition from independent sculptors, the ARO system isn't fresh (even 40k has some reactive mechanics in their shitty game), and CB has already set themselves away from the aesthetic that made them attractive to begin with.

      >Infinity is still a great game, the problem is that the market changed and its selling points don't work anymore.
I disagree. CB has changed not so much the market other that the market has a lot more accessibility and options. You can see that with players leaving, and very few if any coming in. Even with GW's recent issues and a price increase, those players aren't switching to Infinity like they did during the N3 peak. It's because people still want the same stuff but now there are a ton of studios competing for those customers. Also they don't HAVE to change everything that made them great to appeal to perceived market change. There's a benefit to having a core identity for your studio. I know what to expect with a GW product or one from Kingdom Death. I don't know CB's identity: they went from super cheesecake fapfinity, to tasteful cheesecake, to end up on generic CoDHalomanOverwatchCapeshit no420360. They're not even really operators operating operationally any more, because it's all herohammer now with incredibly limited list building. Just look at the new Torchlight Brigade. That shit doesn't look like infinity models with their giant geometric shapes, clumsy huge swords, overtly roman motifs, and devoid of any appealing models/characters. Also doesn't help they product miniatures in 3 different materials now. I attribute their blandification to chasing a wider audience because the downside of sticking to their core identity could be a lack of growth. I reckon they won't get that wider audience. Being generic means you'll be competing with countless other generic things and never stand out like they did in N3. And mainstream audiences will always stick with the mainstream until something drastic happens.

tl:dr CB has no studio identity because of their constant design changes towards the generic, and they're chasing a wider market that won't buy their shit because it's generic. Thanks for listening to my tedtalk

The other issue is that stuff like Frostgrave has set new expectations for the physical ease/cost of entry, leaving Infinity halfway between between " expensive high detail metal models" and "miniature agnostic"

The wargaming community has also changed, cheesecake is no longer acceptable due to you-know-who

People complaining about /misc/&-or Trump. Its been 8 years and they are still mentally broken by that election.

Yeah bunker chan is definitely out in force here
But what I will say is there is some truth what they say, it is annoying seeing endless warhammer bait threads complaining about the same thing over and over and over and over and over again
Or any attempt to try talking about new games gets nothing but claims about the op being a shill
There is something that needs fixing without turning Ganker into any other forum

    >bloated mess of a game system
    >somehow model-for-model more expensive than GW's garbage
    >shitty generic sci-fi anime art direction
I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.

A tournament-ready roster for Infinity costs around 150$

Tournament model ready roster for GW is ~$1200 including books and paint, good for about 3 months after launch. Then around $300 for additional models to fix the hole the FAQ put in your faction after the index release. Then, do it again when the codex comes out. Repeat for new editions/codex, and limited release models as needed in between that will subsequently be erased.

Infinity is chess disguised as a bloated war game. It's much more fair, but boring af.

The closest contender to the throne was warmahordes, where every single list was broken af, and people were just waiting to pull off obscene combos to board wipe you turn 1 round 1. There was a dude that got his robot to throw a his men at his other men, kill his entire army, have a massive mana pool, then kill you dead, fuelled by the souls of all the dudes he murdered. It was crazy af.

The most outstanding piece rules wise in infinity is probably avatar, and it still dies instantly to all the stuff that kills tags.

Sculpts were the only thing going for it. When they first started using CAD, they produced some bangers, limited ed Joan, szalamandra, tikbalang, gits crab robot, etc. Now it's all the same tacticool dude with the same pose on tactical rock with gribbles on armour.

GW minis are gaudy as frick, but you can tell which faction they're from instantly. They went the brand recognition angle rather than pure aesthetics, which is important in an army to tie the whole thing together.
