That's not how shareholder shit works homosexual. When your company is on the stock market anyone can buy shares and there isn't shit you can do about who buys them. Also, Chinese homosexuals like Tencent are into literally every AAA company around so just stop buying anything but Indi games from now on.
if combat wasn't bugged out of the asshole and status effects would work, I could play this game. As it is, I have to quit near the end of act 1 because combat bugs are too unfun.
After the "fix" where they made characters give you quest items from their inventory when leaving the party, completely forgetting the 40kg camp supply bag each person has is also a "quest item", making you overencumbered every time you swapped party members, i might just agree with you

turns out people complaining about bg3 are just bad at video games
If you built a proper noose and dropped from a height that far, your head would pop right off. Used to happen in executions all the time when the headsman estimated the criminal's weight wrong.
Character writing is pretty great, beats the absolute crap out of Pathfinder in that regard. I'd say it suffers from the same flaw as the rest of the genre in that it's needlessly long and full of areas that don't meet up to the expectations the start of the game gives you.
TTRPGs need to start doing like 15 hour campaigns with lots of story variation and quality instead of 100 hour long campaigns that fizzle out halfway through.

The Emperor was right on that regard. If you side with him he never betrays you, and the only thing he asks in return is to not set Orpheus free.
You doing that otherwise is a betrayal to him.
He doesn't even let you talk to Orpheus
At the end of the day he's just another asshole lusting for power

If he lusted for power he would have just betrayed you when given the stones in the final fight.
Because it's retarded to claim that a game with hundreds of hours of content is woke because it has a few woke elements in it, and with most of them being avoidable. Just as it would be retarded to claim a game is right wing because it has a few right wing nods.
When woke games like this and Starfield and Spiderman 2 do well, the NPC chuds can't process it since in their minds "go woke go broke" so they start a narrative that the games are actually secretly antiwoke and based
For the past 20 years or so, to be a CRPG fan has meant that you make do with the few games that are available despite your reservations. This is why broken games like VTMB and KOTOR II have their fans, it's why snoozefest Pillar of Eternity was a success, and it's why even the most blackhearted chud will lay his politics aside and play BG3.
There will always be a portion of people who (understandably) bounced off the game because of it's excessive purple prose and dry style of writing. I think burried underneath is actually something not only fun from a systems point of view but something with an interesting world and decently interesting main quest, but stylistically it's like it's trying to appear as dull as humanly possible.
How does a game that's this blatant with its politics find success at all though? Normal people react to homosexuality the same way they react to maggots and bugs, and it's an even worse reaction for "gender diversity".
Metal Gear >tactical stealth operations in a modern military setting
Baldur's Gate 3 >medieval fantasy where most of the characters are gay, bisexual or "GNC"
Every "woke" thing would have been praised by Ganker 10 years ago. Fuck off back to r/thedonald or whatever shithole you came from tourist.

Seeing violence and corpses gives people a disgust response too, so why is action media so popular?
Real answer?
Because I was never made to feel like the devs are at war with my existence. Even though I could tell the spirit of the game didn't align with me, based on the stances in its obvious good-bad divisions, it never demanded my compliance. It never paused the narrative, turned and looked directly into the camera, and told me to say "trans rights". The game is at peace with its playerbase, it is constructed to provide them with value rather than change them, and for that reason even as a rightist I can feel comfortable coexisting with it in a way that I never could with Wolfenstein or Last of Us 2.
It is predictable that Larian could convey this feeling because it is also obvious that their quality developers, writers, etc. were not purged for loyalist goblins. Naughty Dog's staff hate me and prefer to lecture and fight with me rather than provide value in exchange for money, which goes hand in hand with the fact that they are obviously unintelligent cretins with distorted incentives.
In short, Larian Leftists are serious enough people to do good business with an outgroup, and good business we most certainly did.
>at war with my existence
You misunderstand oldfags if you think that's what they're upset about
Games made by women and fags like this one are inherently lower quality. Devs started hiring literal female interns as writers with no experience especially on low effort cash grabs. This has become normalized to the point that not hiring women and fags with no qualifications to write your entire game is "problematic".
The game is terrible and unfinished and that's because it's a cashgrab, the narrative is terrible and that's because it was written by talentless women and fags and the gameplay is.. larian.
What 5 years ago would have been met with spewed vitriol is now met with uninterested shrugs, it's not the fags that are the problem, it's that they are a symptom.
I wouldn't care if an entire game was full of homosexuals if the game and writing was good
I wrote a post that responded to the post I was responding to though, which read: >How does a game that's this blatant with its politics find success at all though?
I personally found the writing to be competent. The story was one of tremendous stakes and took time and effort developing a world which truly believed in them.
I also am not convinced it's a cashgrab, given that the studio has undergone huge bugfixing and content adding efforts for free, with no further financial expectations.
You describe it as being met with uninterested shrugs, whereas I've seen it viewed favourably enough that other studios are trying to denigrate it.
Ultimately, though, I replied to that post under the assumption that HE made - that politics specifically would ruin it (ergo, if nothing else had). Regardless of our disagreement on the quality of the game, that's the context in which I was writing.

He's probably referring to a bit of twitter nonsense that happened around the game's release. The developer of Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator tweeted that BG3 was far beyond the scope of what most indie studios could achieve, which several small developers concurred with. However, devs from Blizzard, Obsidian, and Insomniac tried to chime in about how the game was an "unrealistic standard", which invited a lot of mockery considering their companies are bigger and better-funded.

Gaming became shit when White people stopped making them. If you look at Larian studio it is mainly White people so it makes sense as to why the game is good.
>It never paused the narrative, turned and looked directly into the camera, and told me to say "trans rights".
It doesn't have to pause the narrative for a message when the narrative IS the message. Act 1 and Act 3 spend a lot of time on the theme refugee acceptance, with the anti-refugee people as Trumpist caricatures and all the refugees as dindu nuffins, apart from a couple of mischevious children who can't be expected to know better. Alfira's song is played in its entirety so that you can better appreciate the arts and culture the refugees have brought with them. How like our own world!
I freely acknowledge that the game was left-coded, my point was its willingness to provide me, a rightist, with value in spite of that.
My grief with Leftoid games in general is not that their thematic payload is disagreeable to me, it's that this masks that they refuse to give you value unless you are aligned with them and want to go on a Yass Slay monologue instead of a videogame.
>time and effort developing a world

1. Not referring to general worldbuilding, but the way the campaign specifically developed the reality of the stakes through its characters and set pieces. A random DND campaign will not feel like a place in which a scramble for the power to mind control a continent has real and impactful meaning. BG3 felt like that to me and that dark allure was hugely compelling.
2. There are no DLCs
3. This controversy you may find some sincere amusement in if you haven't come across it already: a contingent of AAA devs were yelling that BG3 delivered too much content and it's making them insecure because it might raise people's expectations.
The inclusion of "diverse" characters is them being at war with your existence. A society that has homosexuals and trannies and queers can not also have heterosexuals and conservatives.
I'm not gonna countersignal this too hard because in general I agree. It just felt like Larian were willing to be businessmen about it. As a rightist, I have to contend with >99% of cultural content I consume coming from people who explicitly want me dead. Sometimes you just have to sip Pepsi while heterosexual.

I couldn't engage with the game at all because I thought too much of it was plot convenience which is a sign of an incompetent writer. Like.. every single one of your companions having some sort of magic time bomb in them that they needed to diffuse?

it made sense for your character in mass effect to be constantly getting into trouble, that's good writing. It doesn't make sense for the characters in BG3 to do what they do... like... tolerate each other
The inclusion of "diverse" characters is them being at war with your existence. A society that has homosexuals and trannies and queers can not also have heterosexuals and conservatives.
Yes the diversity is literal marxism but honestly at this point (not him by the way) I would take retarded commie propaganda if the gameplay was good what with the industry being dead and all
You're sounding like your opponents now, though. This is the exact same rhetoric they use. The complaints of conservatives attempting to exterminate LGBTQLMNOP+ people are numerous; from the sounds of it, you admittedly don't seem too far from wanting that. It honestly sounds like you both want people you're not fond of gone - it's difficult to find either side of the debate enticing, given that stormfags and commies are both seemingly liable to start gunning for anyone who doesn't fit their mold.
Call me a le fencesitting centrist, but I'm not really eager to cozy up to either side when they're both fucking psychos who violently lash out at what they perceive to be against the grain. It's like asking which predator I'd prefer to disembowel and devour me.
It's only shocking if you're one of those stupid homosexuals constantly crying about woke this and ESG that and had deluded yourself into thinking anyone agreed with you.
You were always a loud but tiny minority.
Numbers don't lie
Ganker loves BG3
Everyone does
You can accept that you dramatically overestimated how popular your opinion is, invent some retarded conspiracy to explain away the evidence your eyes and ears present (it's all tencent bots! I-it has to be!), or you can plug your eyes and ears and memory hole this game.
Don't expect the same game/combat if you played BG2 or BG1. It's pretty good but the combat is simple and easily abused. The AI is just dumb and will walk into things that hurt them or make them slip so most encounters can be solved by putting shit on the ground and waiting.
Enemies rarely use strong effects like groupwide fears, confusion, holds which is weird going from BG2 where every enemy does it which makes deflections/wards/prebuffs matter. The whole magic system has been simplified a lot in this regard. Mages are just damage machines and have lost a lot of interesting utility they used to have.
The skill check system is mostly fun as it adds makes your build matter when interacting with the would outside of combat. My only issue with it is that you can have +20 to whatever skill and still lose the check because you roll a 1. I'd prefer if 20 or 1 were just numbers as it meshes poorly with proficiencies (a 20 can be better than a 25, because it was a "le good" 20 and not just a 5+15.)
Music is amazing, both the zone stuff and the combat music.
ACT 3 is boring and unfinished, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Just wait for the finished version in a year or so.
>BG2 had better gameplay
You don't know how to play bg2 if you think this. BG2 has terrible gameplay and is a casual reddit game. And its not an engine limitation as iwd1 and 2 have exponentially better combat, its just plainly designed for the retarded. And since you're clearly mentally deficient there's no point in debating story.

The only spells in the game needed are breach and spell pierce. There are low level versions of spell pierce but by the time you see something breach won't solve you get multiple pierce casts. The only spell that can bypass a decent characters basic MI>blur>stoneskin defense is imprison, which can be avoided by SI: Abjuration, which appears in only 2 fights in the whole game which are optional. Every single questline gives you super items that make you immune to everything dangerous in or right before the dungeon, like an immunity to energy drain amulet before the vampire dungeon or magic brine juice in the mind flayer dungeon, so you cant miss them. So there you go, BG2 solved. Not sure what part of this requires a wiki

Breach is the only way to remove weapon immunites and you can read that it does that in your spellbook. Seems like a no brainer to have memorized and thrown at every caster/boss. I took one look at it and knew that shit was broken, wiki or not. I realize you are retarded and thus mad that you didn't know the spell was good, but don't put that on me

Breach is mandatory in bg2, the entire game revolves around it and only it. Its impossible for that dragon to kill me because encounter design in this game is so shit and bad. That's core difficulty by the way and you are seething.

But i agree breach shouldn't bypass spell deflections. If it didn't, you'd actually have to think when you used it.

Even if we stay within the realm of Infinity engine,(and you shouldnt) look at how exponentially more complicated IWD2 fights are in terms of positioning and crowd/field control compared to BG2. It's just a flat out bad game for extremely dumb people. IWD2 just got a EE, try it and be shocked.

Araragi was a mighty homosexual for not wrecking this
BG3 and BG2 combat is similar, only difference is BG3 auto pauses for you. Most fights in BG3 you are just clicking the enemy every turn or casting a spell, so what's the difference really?
I'm not saying that BG2 has good combat and i'm NTA but i think BG3 combat is pretty braindead.
Also dungeons in BG2 (Firkraag, Sphere, Watcher's Keep) are a lot more fun than what "dungeons" we got in BG3, which is barely one per act. It's like Larian is scared of the player not meeting a new friendly NPC every 20 minutes.
>so what's the difference really
You can beat bg2 without ever actually doing combat since AI autocasts stoneskin and breach, and that's all that's needed to beat the game. The game will literally play itself if you press the "a" key. It's mind boggling that people think this game has passable encounter design.
>You can beat bg2 without ever actually doing combat since AI autocasts stoneskin and breach
How about magic missile and insect swarm (aka counterspells) and summons? Bless and other buffs? Dominate and fear spells? The difference between BG2 and BG3 is that BG3 is regressive, it deliberately employs time-consuming turn-based combat which was phased out by Diablo 1 like 30 fucking years ago to appeal to Japanophiles like you.
BG3/2 isn't even't remotely similar other than a few spells and roll checks. The spells and concentration-save mechanics are enough to differentiate the two editions by a lot.
Wrong, in bg2 natural thac0 and saves growth will outpace any challenge at 6x exp gains due to lack of bounded accuracy. Compare how complex the setup and execution of this is to your shitty meme video where the dragon gets 1 shot by HLAs lol

turn based games are vastly different than real time games, turn based was developed for consoles for reverse engineered western RPGs by the Japanese. It's a completely braindead system that only exists because of the technological inferiority of japanese consoles and lead to the JRPG genre

what the fuck are you talking about? do you think table top games and board games are the same thing?
bg2 has a billion spells, way more companions, much better writing, better music, better voice acting, more memorable lines/va/plot points, item effects/descriptions/illustrations were miles ahead. There's no comparison.
>bg2 has a billion spells
BG3 not only has quantitatively more spells that than BG2, (185 vs 600) but it also has like 10x as many spells that are useful. Like compare level 1 arcane spells in bg2 and bg3, and honestly tell me which one has more actual spells worth using. Not gunna bother reading the rest because you're probably a retard and I've got better things to do. Please don't reply to me unless you have an actual argument as I busy playing IWD2:EE and drinking some french toast bastard.
One thing that annoys me is that the Illithids are central to the story and we often get dialogue cutscenes with close up shots of Illithid faces, but their character models are subpar with plastic-looking textures. You look at Shadowheart and she's almost photorealistic, you look at the tavern cat and see that it's very nicely detailed too. But when you talk to a mind flayer, suddenly we're getting PS3 graphics. Why was this allowed?
That looks okay because its from a distance and the shadows give it depth. They look a lot worse when you see them close up in flatly lit areas, such as when you're talking to The Emperor inside the Prism.
>They look a lot worse when you see them close up in flatly lit areas
what an awful comparison. of course it looks bad in a flatly lit area. everything looks bad in flat lighting.
under flat lighting they would both look awful regardless. when seen as the game presents them for a large part the humans look good and the mind flayers look gross
It was pretty good, played through it multiple times. Wouldn't pay full price for it, but a game would have to be a 11/10 masterpiece with no bugs or other problems for me to pay full price.
So get it if you can get it for like 30 bucks or free
I think it’s good but incredibly overrated. Takes forever to level up and the turn-based combat is unbelievably slow. I’m not a fan of the camera angle either, but that’s just me. I also hate games that don’t have a definitive, canonical story. It’s probably awesome if you like CRPGs though.
It's pretty alright. You get a lot of class-specific interactions and equipment, as well as a mix of magic, skill, and combat abilities, so you can toy around with different solutions. Personally, I prefer Barbarian.
They did, though. Most popular race was half-elf (narrowly beating out human), most popular class was Paladin, and the most popular romances were Shadowheart and Gale.
People generally like the idea of playing a human who is also an elf (i.e. i pick both) i guess. But also the Larian-homebrewed Civil Militia racial that helves and humans get is fucking good, free light armor proficiency and shield proficiency (insane to get for free on casters) but helves also get the free racial spells that the full elves get on top of that. You lose out on the elven weapon proficiencies but who cares.
Better face model options than humans
An actually useful racial trait
That's the two main reasons.
Human man is extremely limited by the faces by default.
>shadowheart is most common romance
Why are normies so fucking gay? Karlach is literally the perfect woman. Absolutely no way I could wait to fix her heart, I'd burn my beard lips and nose off day one eating that Hispanicy fucking snatch.
It's unbelievably unfinished, buggy like Australia, has tons of cut content and the 5th edition ruleset is just shit
Still, it's easily 8/10 and with some patches, balancing and restoring content, it's easily on the path to greatness
the first real combat interaction against a party of bandits shows you half an hour in that the game is complete dog shit. Imagine spending all this time crafting a huge dnd world with apparently super in depth systems just to make almost every single skill and spell in the game a variation of 1dX flat damage
I almost forgave this and kept playing just to explore a fully 3D modelled open world baldurs gate and I was rewarded with nothing but low brow fetish content and the most simplistic WE R THE GUD GUYS N THEY ARE THE BADDIES moral choices that clearly have an agenda to make you play as a "good" character
Oh it's you
The guy that was thoroughly embarrassed the other day
Are you still butthurt that your own conscience nagged you after you kicked out the squatters?
I've been eager to start playing, but I wanna wait and see if I can get it for Black Friday or a Holiday sale.
Might even see another patch between now and then so I get an even more polished experience.
How far into Act 1 would I be if I've explored everywhere up to the goblin camp except for the swamp area down south, and just finished rescuing Halsin ?
Christ... well I mean that's fine I really love the experience so far. Its just taken me weeks to get this far I feel like I already played through an entire game haha.
Act 1 is basically a whole game, they could have just ended it there and continued in a sequel and it still would have been a 10/10, and act 3 is about as long.

That's pretty exciting. Thanks for giving me some perspective.
There is something else I was also going to ask; so far whenever I encounter an enemy that is 2 or maybe 3 levels above me I generally run away and plan to come back later, like the Bullettes. Only managed to beat a higher level enemy a few times. Is this an okay habit or will I eventually run into problems later down the line playing this cautiously ?

That's fine for a while but you should get into a habit of learning how to abuse certain mechanics or strategies. I killed the Bulette somewhat early by having my highest AC character stand in front of it with shield of faith (amd Shield spell if needed) while the rest of my party blasted at it from somewhere it could not reach. There are actually a lot of opportunities to do this in the Underdark especially
2 weeks ago
Anonymous
I've gotten better at abusing the mechanics more creatively over time but yeah I was really bad at this. I'm honestly not used to the level of freedom this game allows you. That's definitely part of the reason I struggle. That seems like generally good avice, just keep experimenting and bullshit your way through an encounter if you have to haha.

I genuinely love the game. However, there are uni-fucking-ronically way too many gay and queer NPCs like to the point where it is a tad hamfisted, and i don't mean Astarion (he is based) or the fact that everyone fuckable is player-sexual, but the random gay deep gnomes, gay selune cleric couple, drag queen circus troupe master, shadowheart's childhood friend becoming a tranny, etc. it's not a dealbreaker, (hell i can cave in each of their skulls if i am really so inclined), I have still put 200 hours into the game, but it's really hard not to notice, especially if you are exposed to literally any social media runoff.
>Mpreg fetish monster >degenerate magic items like a mask that lets you interbreed with animals >Literal gender expression spirits (called Gancanagh or something)
Did it really win though
Way worse than DOS2 and inferior to old CRPGS and most other modern CRPGS aside from maybe Deadfire. If you're a casual/woman or have never played a game with a mouse and keyboard before you might like it. Game gives up and throws in the towel once you hit lv 5. In a game with 12 levels. Act 1 is also grossly overrated since the main conflict is retarded and has no weight to it (they're going to port Minthara to the pro Tiefling side so lmao if you side with the gobbos) and things like the goblin fortress having so many entrances and ways of getting in don't matter because you'd have to be a complete retard to get the camp aggro'd on you before getting indoors
>Way worse than DOS2
"No"
D:OS2 suffered from every faction being Hitler so there was no good guy to root for at all
They tried to make BG3 the same but thankfully ended up changing it up a lot
lot of anons showing their ass in this thread. between the retards that played bg2 as children that couldn't read much less put 2 and 2 together and hail it as the best crpg ever and the other retards that are unable to read UI elements in bg3 and then the saddest of the lot, the polbabbies that can't handle gays n trannies without suffering a mental breakdown, and the pathfinder children that desperately insert themselves into every crpg discussion as if anyone gives a shit, it's been a fun baboon exhibit to scroll down.
I keep seeing this opinion and I'm never sure if people mean that it becomes incoherent due to bugged dialogue and sequencing, or if they mean that the story, when working as intended, falls apart on its own merits. I've been playing Act 3 post-patch 4 and I haven't had any bugs. The story has flowed steadily and it has all made sense so far (I have done everything but the last boss). If you mean it falls apart in the sense that it wears thin and becomes less engaging, I could agree with that much.
i mean if the story didn't make sense that would be pathetic, it's not a high brow game by any means and is meant for stupid people so I would think the story would be very simplistic and for stupid people
the main quest is actually insanely comprehensive in act 3. what i mean when i say act 3 is a step down is that it is simply to dense for a third act. its bloated beyond compare with shit to do, there is so much content that it was actually a detriment to me enjoying what i would think of as the denouement of the story
I think that Act3 throws a bit too much at you at once when you get to the city proper.
IIRC the devs intent was to leave you a little clueless about what to do so you need to stumble on the Temple by exploring or talking to NPCs and doing quests in a similar fashion to BG1. But the thing is you're left with so many threads open it becomes almost daunting on top of all the questlines finishing (companions, Raphael, etc ..).
its impressive and daunting to me. no one can finish this game and say "i wish there had been more to do in the city of baldurs gate". i guess the entire build of the game is building up this city and they certainly followed through, but only at the cost of my exhaustion
>no one can finish this game and say "i wish there had been more to do in the city of baldurs gate"
Upper city tho?
But I guess that would just mean putting half the quests slightly farther away.
It's both overwhelming and underwhelming
The massive amount of quests is held back by their bugginess or just being completely undercooked >the Investigate SuHispanicious Toys quest leads absolutely nowhere and the Fireworks building is bugged as shit >the Free the Artist is an absolute bugfest of a fight with the poltergeists >the finale of Astarion's questline is barebones beyond belief, Cazador doesn't have any presence besides being a boss to fight >the Investigate the Murders suffers from a bad case of quest markers >the entire Zhentarim vs. Guild conflict is just wut
>the Free the Artist is an absolute bugfest of a fight with the poltergeists
that fucking stairwell was the maddest i have been at a game in a long time, after the fact though its also the funniest part of the game. im convinced they will have to rework that place.

my PC had permanent see invisibility, but the ghosts can repeatedly cast invisibility, and its an INDIVIDUAL check. for each ghost... so it was like, 60% invisible and 40% revealed at any given moment.
>The Ethel Quest is literally just a repeat of her Act 1 encounter >Finding Dribbles is a waste when you can just pickpocket the Staff >The Gondian AI is fucking suicidal in the Factory >Sarevok and Viconia Bad Ending
>The Ethel Quest is literally just a repeat of her Act 1 encounter >Finding Dribbles is a waste when you can just pickpocket the Staff >The Gondian AI is fucking suicidal in the Factory >Sarevok and Viconia Bad Ending
Then you get to the evil brain's lair and 2 dozen intellect devourers that you fought at lv 1 come out and start randomly exploding. And if you're stupid enough not to swig an invisibility potion and fly to the final fight you have 2 dozen goblins to chew through while some bullshit bombards you. And then the final fight itself is a massive clusterfuck where you watch the AI diddle itself for an hour and a half. Truly BG3 is one of the games of all time
No. >The writing and world building are all marvel-tier. >Companions are annoying and unlikeable in addition to being playersexual, so their affinity progression is just a straight line to them jumping on your dick and getting pissy for turning them down. >Hirelings, the generic party members you can pick up, aren't fully customizable. You can't change their race, subrace, background, or body type/sex. This prevents you from both properly minmaxing and creating a party of custom waifus without a janky workaround. >The previous two points are made worse by the fact that the game is heavily balanced around having a full party. >Everything past the first act is buggy and unfinished, especially the final parts of the game where it was obvious that a lot of stuff was cut so the game could release a month early. >The camera is utter shit. >The game uses a modified 5e ruleset. This isn't bad on its own, in my opinion, but there's no in-game documentation. The Pathfinder games let you see everything a class gets from character creation, while BG3 only shows you what you're getting on your current levelup. This makes it impossible to make educated decisions regarding your build without referencing the official wiki, which isn't guaranteed to be up to date or even have the information you're looking for.
>Mod game for second playthrough >Larian rolls out update >50 hour save now rendered completely broken
This was the push I needed to move on to another game.
I dont understand people here, even if the game is woke, that doesnt mean its bad.
Rather than making a fool out of yourself, just say that the game is a good but its woke so you boycott it. That is a better and more respectable reasoning than trying so hard to claim its bad by being an idiot and making up retarded issues.
Just be honest, be objective and never ever go full retard.
Decoupling quality from wokeness kills their whole argument and exposes it as a racist/sexist issue.
Pretending it's about quality is the entire purpose of the messaging - it's a trojan horse for recruiting vulnerable lonely people to extremism.
But yes, by all means, please do drop all pretense and openly declare that you don't care about game quality, you just hate women and minorities

But yes, by all means, please do drop all pretense and openly declare that you don't care about game quality, you just hate women and minorities
I've already played a better version of this game that also wasn't full of this "woke" nonsense. And that one wasn't taking a shit on a series that should never have gotten another sequel, nor did it need 3 years of paid beta testing used to rewrite everything 10 times over and still release it unfinished -- because to actually finish it they'd probably need another 10 years an an unlimited budget.
Why would I ever not boycott it? FOMO? Why should I ever take seriously a single opinion of someone who actually chooses to play this kind of shit and defends it? Not that I'm surprised that Ganker does, because they only "realized" how shit CP77 when normalfags turned on it because of the bugs.
Yes. You can self insert as a white male human warrior that is heterosexual. And you can kill all the fags in this game, notably Gale if he starts hitting on you. Then you can date shadowheart. The only reason this game is popular is because its a WEG porn game with a massive budget and team behind it. And the porn isn’t there anymore
It's kind of inherent. Forgotten Realms, the setting of Baldur's Gate 3, is inherently fucking degenerate. Ed Greenwood says that "bisexuality" is the norm in Faerun, not heterosexuality.
In BG3 it feels more like homosexuality is the norm. Like Wyll has no interest in sexy demoness Mizora, but he'll gladly fuck your hairy male half-orc barbarian.
it's a typical playersexual game, it's why everybody freaked out after Dragon Age 2 because making everybody playersexual means the gays hit on you even though you're straight
anybody that's been playing games for more than 10 years has seen this slow degradation of rpg romances and it morphing into this gay only freakshow
Romances were always a freakshow from the start, you liking them to begin with places you on the outside. This is percievably different to you becauae you were on the side of degradation to begin with, and to see romance presented as a ridiculous and minor side attraction is quite frankly refreshing compared to what usually exists. I don't care because I'm not a retard.
Everyone I have spoken to that has played the game claim it's the best game they have ever played and also their favorite of all times. Women in particular seem to be the ones most obsessed with it.
So the only thing I have left to do is to defeat the Elder Brain. I've been thinking about my second playthrough. My first was as a good guy Durge who resisted all his impulses and pushed his companions to be do-gooders like himself. I'm thinking that my next playthrough could be as an evil Shadowheart, who would also be a sex-mad dyke. But, I need to know in advance - can Shadowheart lez it up with Minthara?
>narcissist devil who forces his demon sex slave to look like him while he plows him >sometimes makes him turn into a female version of himself to keep it Hispanicy
It has nothing to do with homosexuality, his kink is selfcest. Pretty based villain writing.

The right circlet is pic related. Literally one of the most broken helmets in the game. It basically gives you a permanent +5 damage to your attacks because it's always fucking procc'd (think it's bugged)
Torment's ending is pretty fleshed-out as it is, though, and it wraps up TNO's story nicely. I'd be more interested in Larian making a new Planescape campaign, or maybe even a Spelljammer game like they'd originally wanted.
/pol/tards always just play goyslop. Its in the name, slop for goys, so go play those and pretend you aren't a failed normalfag. Gameplay and role playing are solid. The game has production value and is nice to look at. The worst part is the writing, by far. NPCs barely feel like people and the companions don't have meaningful conversations neither with you nor among themselves. For a game that tries as hard to be a BioWare RPG, BG3 companions are unironically leagues behind DA series and even Owlkek writing, it's such a shame. I hope they improve in this regard. Act 3 also falls apart completely, the absence of the upper city is mind boggling.
You mean a party with a female human sorcerer, male human cleric, male human wizard and male human fighter(paladin?) actually appears in BG3? I highly doubt that.
Which one? The guy in the back is wearing black robes, sports a sort of bob haircut and is clean-shaven, I assume he's a cleric because that's a stereotyped image of a priest in the medieval period. Rogues don't typically cast spells, so the girl probably isn't a rogue despite dressing the part, why I assume she's a sorceress. Didn't read Spellfire, so I might be wrong.

Story mode still has combat, it's easy, but it's there to interrupt the talking.
You don't understand combat in RPGs and it shows.
It's not the meat but it has to be there for stakes to exist, to give your character the cool factor, and to make the RPing less heavy on the person

Ah, so we're pretending people who enjoyed BG3 wouldn't enjoy a mode that skiops combat to have story only, got it.
The game succeeeded with combat, just like all other games
You have only your headcanon on your side.
Building strong characters and min/maxing is a huge draw for cRPG players and BG3 does a good job providing interesting powerful multiclass builds.

>Dice roll skill checks will never make for good mechanics
nah my real beef comes from simple d20 mechanisms being programmed as a real d20, whjch while real makes the actual rolling of a 1 or a 20 far to common.
my preferred method for d20 is actually suing 2d10 that has a better probability curve and make a critical failure (i.e., rolling two 1's) or a crit success actually very rare and much more rewarding

doesnt even get to 20. now 5d4 on the other hand...
isn't really optimal because yes, the tail ends are both very rare but you start to impede on the chcanes of succesful skill checks by making the middle rolls too likely

The point of the d20 is to make fights dynamic. You are wrong and this is actual real honest to god zoomer game design where rolls have to be rigged to not hurt feelings.
Anonymous
yes, it is to make fights dynamic. however, the probability of a player having an action ripped away form them is WAY to likely on a d20. crit failure is a simple mistake with a fun gm or a character killing tragedy if you have a sadistic one.
5% for any roll sounds good and fair but that just means you have an equal chance for just as many shitty rolls as you do good ones, before even taking into account modifiers and bonuses. 2d10 is more fun for my parties
2 weeks ago
Anonymous
Sure, but outside of combat a 5% chance to fail for a master of the craft is unrealistic
I professional circus guy that throws kinfes for a living, definetly could fuck up and lose a finger, but not 5% of the time he does it, or else he'd be jobless in a couple of weeks.
It's about simulating. A 2d10 system depends more on your build than your luck, but still has a luck factor.

There's no crit fails or successes in tabletop D&D. It's just for attack rolls.

We are talking about BG3, a game with critical success and fails in skill checks
Also it exists as an optional rule a good 70% of people use because its a fun rule.
It just shouldn't be 5%. I accept the existence of critical failure, but it should be 1%, hence the numerous d100 systems

Anonymous
i will counter this by saying that so many tables use crit failures on skill checks as a way to add flavor to the story and variety of the game experience

Anonymous
That's true but it's the most common houserule in existence. I was actually shocked to learn it isn't official after years and years

When the failure chance is that low you could go the whole game without seeing a single critical failure. It's a horrendously dumb idea.
I prefer bg1 over bg2. I just like a more chill outdoors setting that transitions into urban adventuring. Athkatla is so fucking corny, and dnd as a setting collapses once you hit mid levels.
yeah
no it's a chinese shilled and botted game
>a non-controlling interest
NOOOOOOOOO AAAAAAH SAVE ME naggerMAN
makes sense, those numbers after release were sus asf gnome sane
You're still watching for these threads Rajeet?
That's not how shareholder shit works homosexual. When your company is on the stock market anyone can buy shares and there isn't shit you can do about who buys them. Also, Chinese homosexuals like Tencent are into literally every AAA company around so just stop buying anything but Indi games from now on.
If it wasn't a buggy, incomplete mess, it'd be pretty okay.
this.
it's completely broken. only soi-facing npcs don't notice the plethora of gamebreaking bugs.
It's less broken than current day bg2
because Larian are hacks that put all their budget into assets. they are completely unable to write simple game logic code.
if combat wasn't bugged out of the asshole and status effects would work, I could play this game. As it is, I have to quit near the end of act 1 because combat bugs are too unfun.
After the "fix" where they made characters give you quest items from their inventory when leaving the party, completely forgetting the 40kg camp supply bag each person has is also a "quest item", making you overencumbered every time you swapped party members, i might just agree with you
just "send to camp" any food you noob
I never have anything except equipment and throwables on party members anyways
Why do you say this to me now, after i have played the game 2 times with my inventory full of 10kg hams
>just "send to camp" any food you noob
>I never have anything except equipment and throwables on party members anyways
I didn't realize that was a function until around 80 hours in
Just give everyone 18 STR.
hello? just use the send to camp button?
turns out people complaining about bg3 are just bad at video games
correct. Glad that there are sane anons. Even if our numbers are minuscule.

i would argue it is too complete and act 3 should have been scaled back majorly
yeh
yes it's a good fantasy RPG and dogshit developers should've been taking notes ever since Div:OS as to what people actually want to play
correct
Character writing is pretty great, beats the absolute crap out of Pathfinder in that regard. I'd say it suffers from the same flaw as the rest of the genre in that it's needlessly long and full of areas that don't meet up to the expectations the start of the game gives you.
TTRPGs need to start doing like 15 hour campaigns with lots of story variation and quality instead of 100 hour long campaigns that fizzle out halfway through.
no, extremely overrated
It is extremely woke, and it's shocking to see so much praise on Ganker of all places.
I think it surprises me more that when clearly pointed out, larianfags are ready to do mental gymnastics to deny that it isn't woke on Ganker.
Of course its woke. The whole game revolves around breaking down your prejudice against mindflayers.
>breaking down your prejudice against mindflayers
nope
>be nothing but nice to The Emperor the entire game
>Hey let me get Orpheus out since we don't know for sure we can use his ability properly and I've read all these discs that tell me we can reason with him
>NO FUCK YOU IM JOINING THE BRAIN
They're clearly just fucking evil, and at absolute best are completely amoral
The Emperor was right on that regard. If you side with him he never betrays you, and the only thing he asks in return is to not set Orpheus free.
You doing that otherwise is a betrayal to him.
He doesn't even let you talk to Orpheus
At the end of the day he's just another asshole lusting for power
>be very clear that he has a redline that he doesn't want crossed
>be the one that negotiates and provides a solution to not only your problem, but the entire city's problem
>should you go down his route, he never betrays you, and does what he promised
>somehow he's the bad guy for not letting some retard mindlessly free the only thing that's a direct threat to him, and something that provides no insurance for his survival if freed
When woke games like this and Starfield and Spiderman 2 do well, the NPC chuds can't process it since in their minds "go woke go broke" so they start a narrative that the games are actually secretly antiwoke and based
well it must be really good if they like it despite the wokeness
For the past 20 years or so, to be a CRPG fan has meant that you make do with the few games that are available despite your reservations. This is why broken games like VTMB and KOTOR II have their fans, it's why snoozefest Pillar of Eternity was a success, and it's why even the most blackhearted chud will lay his politics aside and play BG3.
Are we still pretending that PoE is bad?
It's sort of good and boring at the same time. It certainly wasn't what people were hoping for.
>People care more about videogame quality than politics on the videogame board?
>This.. this can't be possible...
How does a game that's this blatant with its politics find success at all though? Normal people react to homosexuality the same way they react to maggots and bugs, and it's an even worse reaction for "gender diversity".
>How does a game that's this blatant with its politics find success at all though?
Same way Metal Gear did.
Metal Gear
>tactical stealth operations in a modern military setting
Baldur's Gate 3
>medieval fantasy where most of the characters are gay, bisexual or "GNC"
Objectively wrong. See: Dragon Age: Inquisition, a game that's arguably less woke than Baldur's Gate 3.
isnt vamp literally gay
none of the characters are gay or straight they're all just player sexual
Half the dudes in metal gear are gay as fuck lol, have people forgotten the traditional russian taunt shit?
You've obviously never played MGS.
>Objectively wrong. See: Dragon Age: Inquisition, a game that's arguably less woke than Baldur's Gate 3.
i see,you're baiting for replies
vamp is in metal gear solid you poseur
oh I thought you meant astarion, the vampire in bg3
How am I wrong? People were shitting all over Inquisition for having stuff that they now just take for granted in Baldur's Gate 3.
They aren't evil, the developers clearly don't see the circus as morally questionable in any degree.
Because the shitposting sociopath doesn't want to have to admit he's ironically defending troons so that you give him attention
sure, they both have a variety of romance options and diversity shit in them, but da: I was very much more on the side of "look! lok what we have an included!!!" which is a million times worse to me than just naturally including it in your world and not drawing attention to it
Honestly larian is so incompetent if they tried to force some sort of narrative I doubt they would have the ability to do so, so that's not really an argument.
There's no practical difference between the two, you end up with a game filled with degenerates either way.
That circus run by freaks isn't demonized or denigrated, and is in fact celebrated.
>There's no practical difference between the two
there absolutely is a difference between a natural world and pandering content
There really isn't. I don't want gays in my video games period, I don't care if they're done naturally, get them out.
Circuses aren't typically run by trannies and demons.
>Circuses aren't typically run by trannies and demons.
Yea they're run by gypsies and freaks, same thing really
>I don't want them in my game!
Too bad, most people don't care
Cry about it
>That circus run by freaks isn't demonized or denigrated, and is in fact celebrated.
Yes, like circuses in real life? What are you even talking about? Do normal people hate the circus? Are circuses considered "evil"? What is even the argument here?
>They aren't evil, the developers clearly don't see the circus as morally questionable in any degree.
Who said anything about anyone being evil??? Am I replying to a fucking chatgpt bot or something?
>Am I replying to a fucking chatgpt bot or something?
Yes

-ACK - ACK
clearly it's not as bad as you think it is if people play it without turning inside out
random custom characters looking silly doesn't have anything to do with diversity or wokeness
Because the character you posted is a minor character played for comedic effect in act 3, so why would normal people care? The game is 100h long that character has like 6 lines
>a crazy circus full of freaks is run by a gaudy transvestite
wooooooooow the west has fallen my fellow tatebros......
None of them have evil alignments.
What does that have to do with what I said you illiterate mongoloid
>anon admitting he has less control over his emotional impulses than millions of normalfags
Seeing violence and corpses gives people a disgust response too, so why is action media so popular?
Why should I control a natural reaction towards something that is inherently abhorrent and an abomination?
>why shouldn't I be a slave to my instincts?
You are gladly saying you are subhuman

I wouldn't care if an entire game was full of homosexuals if the game and writing was good
>Polfag pretends to be an oldfag
Jump off a bridge you pathetic whiny cunt
>you're wining about games being worse
do you know were you are you dumb nagger?
I wrote a post that responded to the post I was responding to though, which read:
>How does a game that's this blatant with its politics find success at all though?
I personally found the writing to be competent. The story was one of tremendous stakes and took time and effort developing a world which truly believed in them.
I also am not convinced it's a cashgrab, given that the studio has undergone huge bugfixing and content adding efforts for free, with no further financial expectations.
You describe it as being met with uninterested shrugs, whereas I've seen it viewed favourably enough that other studios are trying to denigrate it.
Ultimately, though, I replied to that post under the assumption that HE made - that politics specifically would ruin it (ergo, if nothing else had). Regardless of our disagreement on the quality of the game, that's the context in which I was writing.
>time and effort developing a world
The world was already developed for two games before it and uh, a like 40 year old tabletop
>the studio has undergone huge bugfixing and content adding efforts for free
600 gorillion free dlcs?!?!1
>other studios are trying to denigrate it.
????
He's probably referring to a bit of twitter nonsense that happened around the game's release. The developer of Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator tweeted that BG3 was far beyond the scope of what most indie studios could achieve, which several small developers concurred with. However, devs from Blizzard, Obsidian, and Insomniac tried to chime in about how the game was an "unrealistic standard", which invited a lot of mockery considering their companies are bigger and better-funded.
I mean 6-8 year 100 million plus dev cycles only to release incomplete products (starfield, cyberpunk, BG3 etc) isn't sustainable, literally.
This is like 10 times worse than loyalty missions from mass effect
Yeah that was a bit of a weakness for sure, although it definitely doesn't bug me personally as much as MA's sins. It's unsatisfying, but not outright cheating, for chance to get your characters INTO trouble.
it made sense for your character in mass effect to be constantly getting into trouble, that's good writing. It doesn't make sense for the characters in BG3 to do what they do... like... tolerate each other
The inclusion of "diverse" characters is them being at war with your existence. A society that has homosexuals and trannies and queers can not also have heterosexuals and conservatives.
Yes the diversity is literal marxism but honestly at this point (not him by the way) I would take retarded commie propaganda if the gameplay was good what with the industry being dead and all
Accept no compromise.
Lying again are we
Numbers don't lie
Ganker loves BG3
Everyone does
You can accept that you dramatically overestimated how popular your opinion is, invent some retarded conspiracy to explain away the evidence your eyes and ears present (it's all tencent bots! I-it has to be!), or you can plug your eyes and ears and memory hole this game.
The choice is yours you stupid bitch
>Don't believe your lying eyes
Embarrassing, but except from a lefty
>I can't read
Yep, pretty embarrassing.
Reading is for leftists.
Every "woke" thing would have been praised by Ganker 10 years ago. Fuck off back to r/thedonald or whatever shithole you came from tourist.
what shocks me more is people here adopt buzzwords used by retards on twitter like "woke"
It's pretty fun, you might like it.
Yup, game of the decade for sure.
Good but overwhelmingly overrated.
This. The fact that is it basically DAO but modern tells you what state gaming is in today
BG3 is much closer to tabletop gameplay than DAO is.
you didn't play the game
I don't need to play a game to have an opinion on it.
why would you need to play such an obviously bad game
wouldn't it being so obviously bad turn people off from playing it
stop shitting up our thread you retarded rightwingers
Okay but when something is so obviously bad why would you need to play it?
this game is the left's allegory further proving righties can't create only steal lol!
what?
yeah, this game is in a sense a reminder of where gaming should be right now, but it got sidetracked with codbros and skyrimbros a few decades ago
Only if you're on hrt
It a major improvement over the previous BG games in every way, objectively.
BG2 had better gameplay and writing.
It certainly had better characters. Just as much inter-party banter as BG3 has as well
>BG2 had better gameplay
You don't know how to play bg2 if you think this. BG2 has terrible gameplay and is a casual reddit game. And its not an engine limitation as iwd1 and 2 have exponentially better combat, its just plainly designed for the retarded. And since you're clearly mentally deficient there's no point in debating story.
>BG2 has terrible gameplay and is a casual reddit game
It's infinitely better than turn-based RNG sloppa, which is more reddit than anything.
Thanks for confirming that bg2 is a retard game.
>literal tranny crying about BG2
>if I dispel the magic on this boss that resists all my damage then I can damage them, I hate this *dilates furiously*
41% yourself
>entire game is breach then autoattack
>this is better than bg3 because... it just is, okay?
When you shill garbage like this you discredit old games, and I like old games, just not the bad ones. There is nothing sadder than underages being directed into the past to grasp the absolute worst games from it, it's like how e-celebs memed them into liking slop like arcanum and morrowind.
>if I look up a guide on how to damage this boss with the best classes in the game it becomes easy
that's not how you play infinity engine games tranny
>needs a guide to know to cast breach
Jesus christ lmao
>use nearly every single spell from the wiki to counter the boss
>savescum to get good RNG and play on easy
>man this game is easy
have a nice day tranny
>use nearly every single spell from the wiki to counter the boss
Are you retarded?
Are you retarded? You homosexual tranny? You enter a boss room and use every single counter possible on the boss so that it doesn't instantly wreck your shit and level drain you, congratulations you massive homosexual
>shorty saves
>stoneskin
>breach
>win fight
WOOOOOOOOOOW
>savescum fight until you get good RNG with breach and then unga bunga the boss on easy while still using a guide
you even play games like a homosexual
>good RNG with breach
Spell that has no saves and bypasses magic resist
Eat some more gravel, retard
>uses the most broken spell in the game that doesn't even work like it should against a boss on easy that has invulnerability to your braindead autism otherwise
>use braindead autism to kill the boss on easy and savescum because you probably still died a few times
>dood this game is so easy
And you're a homosexual
I'll let you in on a secret. I didn't use breach on the dragon and i didn't play on easy. I just prebuffed 2 pixels away from the dragon, so everyone entered blessed, hasted, chaotic commanded, beserking, mirror imaged. Then i clicked my main guy to go in first and take aggro. Then i clicked on the rest of my party and clicked the dragon. Then he died in 5 seconds.
>YOU WERE OVERLEVED
>BLESS IS BROKEN
>I DONT WANNA BE ALONE
>I prebuffed and attacked a boss
Yes that's how you're supposed to play these games, posting a video of doing this and using all the necessary counter spells (that you looked up) to claim the game is bad is laughable and only a braindead tranny would claim it was an accomplishment
It's not even a hard boss
>all the necessary counter spells
>The only spells in the game needed are breach
>post a video using this spell
>against a boss that isn't even difficult
>wow I steamrolled this boss while being immune to his damage and countering him
This isn't an accomplishment tranny, nor is it a vector of criticism, you played the game, you beat a boss with immunity to weapons that's not that hard to kill. The only limitation is your own hormone addled imagination
?t=37
This highlights another issue with bg2 and ie in general, that solo is broken easy mode becauae fights give 6x the exp they're supposed to, a problem bg3 does not have.
>If I'm not dripfed experience linearly I'm might become overpowered!
just say you're stupid and have no self control, because you're a tranny
Wrong, in bg2 natural thac0 and saves growth will outpace any challenge at 6x exp gains due to lack of bounded accuracy. Compare how complex the setup and execution of this is to your shitty meme video where the dragon gets 1 shot by HLAs lol
Why are you still arguing with the BG2fag?
You should have just called him mad and ignored him the second he said Breach had RNG lmfao.
I've said it before, the vast majority of people on Ganker who bring up old games (3x3 threads is especially egregious of this, especially any time you see more than 2 of the following - Thief1/2, BG1/BG2, New Vegas, STALKER, Gothic, FF6, Chrono Trigger - on their list) never fucking even played them.
People unironically were using "yea, but where's the gameplay "arguments in BG3 threads. The same fags who will jerk off Planescape Torment and BG1/BG2s combat systems that are infinitely worse and less reactive/developed.
BG2 is such a trash game its unreal actually. Every act is about getting mcguffin to acess next level and main plot makes no sense + esotheric soul stealing shit which somehow still manages to have plot holes still imoen regains soul instantly but player has to fight human named elf in bhaal realm for it. So fucking retarded.
They're good for the time they came out. Can't think of many CRPGs that released in the same time period so they filled that void.
But compared to some other CRPGs, they're brutally mogged. BG3 included
>They're good for the time they came out. Can't think of many CRPGs that released in the same time period so they filled that void.
Jagged Alliance 2, Deus Ex, Wizardry 8, Vagrant Story, Diablo 2, Gothic, etc all came out with 12 months of BG2. People mistake BG2 for being older than it really is and give it a free pass.
CRPGs have been harkening to and idealized formula that came before them since the beginning, that's why BG3 is such an abomination for being turn based because nobody playing CRPGs thought turn based was anything but a limitation
This is also why Larian exists because they've been larping as "originalfags" for 30 years despite every one of their games becoming more and more derivative until eventually we got barrelmancy
>CRPGs have been harkening to and idealized formula that came before them since the beginning
No, I just gave you a big list of extremely unique games. BG2 was the beginning of the end and empowered Bioware to kill CRPGs for 15 years. BG3 is an excellent game, much better than BG2, which improves upon its predeccessor in all ways imaginable. Larian has finally put the awful legacy of Bioware in the ground so now we can have good RPGs again.
The only thing that kills CRPGs are retards that don't know what CRPGs are
So bioware fans? How quick they were to turn their nose up at IWD2 and embrace the mind boggingly dumb NWN with its single controllable character. So too did ToEE go unnoticed and reconfigured NWN modules for consoles became the norm, leading to *gems* such as Mass Effect and Dragon Age designed to pull cheeto dust encrusted 12 year olds away from halo for a few minutes. BG2 and its fans are absolutely the decline of a culture.
The media really shit on IWD because it was a CRPG and not NWN, literally the gaming media's fault for picking favorites when they know all they are are promoters for games
That's because IWD plays like an actual campaign comprised of dnd modules, and Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 are not that, those are designed like interactive movies with a loose implementation of DnD mechanics. If you play one after the other the contrast is quite stark and you really can see where things went wrong in real time.
Stop responding to the anime avatard
>Diablo 2
>Diablo-likes are ba-
>nobody playing CRPGs thought turn based was anything but a limitation
>defending a change to the genre that resulted in 15 years of being dominated by agonizingly slow fake ARPGs like Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic, and Dragon Age Origins
dragon age origins is not an ARPG, maybe the second game
its a shitty nwn module with all the actual mechanics gutted from it so people could rush through fetch quests to get to the dialogue and cutscenes
Being disingenuous listing Diablo 2, a shitty JRPG and Deus Ex in that list.
When I say CRPGs you know the type of game I mean. Planescape, Fallout 1/2 etc
>Planescape, Fallout 1/2 etc
>etc
Go on, because I don't think you play CRPGs. I think you only know BG, Fallout, and PST.
Not that anon but Arcanum, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights 2/Mask of the Betrayer, VtMB, Temple of Elemental Evil.
>Not that anon
I asking that anon. And Arcanum, NWN2, and VTMB are atrocious games, no wonder you like BG2 slop. Why is everyone that whines about this game only exist within this extremely tiny cluster of games? Do they know that CRPGs existed before Fallout 1? Probably not.
What a retarded post.
How is arcanum a good game? Its just an even dumber version of fallout with lore dumps, diablo combat, and aimlessly wandering barely half finished content. Arcanum is a terrible game, its what I imagine isometric elder scrolls would be like.
Sorry, I realized I responded to the wrong anon.
The one point per level skill system allows for more customizability than any other cRPG.
>The one point per level skill system allows for more customizability than any other cRPG.
No it doesn't. Character building works like diablo, which means various reconfigurations of mitigating and doing damage that are all fundamentally the same except sometimes the lightning bolt is red instead of blue, and more than half the skills are identical or don't work at all. You don't want to play a CRPG. You want to play a braindead numbers go up retard game.
Huh? How is casting harm over and over deeper character building than like... choosing spells as a barebones dnd sorceror every other level? The bar is incredibly low here and you failed to clear it spectacularly. Like not taking fireball as a sorceror is going to profoundly effect your experience far more than any choice you make in constructing an arcanum character and to say otherwise is pure hipster nonsense.
VtMB isn't a crpg you fucking mong
Cope
Its a bad one, but it is indeed a crpg. Just like Deus Ex is. (but a good one)
Based anon
>using all the necessary counter spells (that you looked up)
Breach is the only way to remove weapon immunites and you can read that it does that in your spellbook.
>RNG with breach
Proof that the retards who praise bg2 don't even play it
>on easy
If that was easy that mighty dragon would have died in 2 hits instead of 4 LOL
>no you have to let yourself get fucked
Baldursissies...
>cast breach
>send in the ooga squad to maul him
>guy with aggro stands on other side of dragon
I'm not that anon but what are you on about
>entire game is auto attack (martial) or ground based AOE (caster)
Truly the thinking man's game...
Araragi was a mighty homosexual for not wrecking this
E celebs were responsible for arcanum? Ganker was shilling that crap like 10 years ago I didn't know e celebs even existed then.
>E celebs were responsible for arcanum?
Yes
Vanilla party AI never did that. Stop talking shit.
>You can beat bg2 without ever actually doing combat since AI autocasts stoneskin and breach
How about magic missile and insect swarm (aka counterspells) and summons? Bless and other buffs? Dominate and fear spells? The difference between BG2 and BG3 is that BG3 is regressive, it deliberately employs time-consuming turn-based combat which was phased out by Diablo 1 like 30 fucking years ago to appeal to Japanophiles like you.
>regressive
BG3/2 isn't even't remotely similar other than a few spells and roll checks. The spells and concentration-save mechanics are enough to differentiate the two editions by a lot.
All the bg games are great, why does it always have to be this way with you fags.
its literally the same as bg3?
>cant refute my argument
cool stuff tranny, it's literally the same shit
turn based games are vastly different than real time games, turn based was developed for consoles for reverse engineered western RPGs by the Japanese. It's a completely braindead system that only exists because of the technological inferiority of japanese consoles and lead to the JRPG genre
Why larian uses it for CRPGs is a secret only they know
Fallout was turn based because interplay got their start making ports, just like the japanese
What an absolutely insane post.
>Why larian uses it for CRPGs is a secret only they know
Because DnD is turn based. Real rpgs are turn based.
Nobody has made a single game turn based because "we wanted to simulate a table top" besides shit like Monopoly on the PC
you can stop trying to astroturf
What?
what the fuck are you talking about? do you think table top games and board games are the same thing?
>2e
>better gameplay
no
>BG2 had better gameplay
>BG2
BG1 is a better game in most respects.
bg2 has a billion spells, way more companions, much better writing, better music, better voice acting, more memorable lines/va/plot points, item effects/descriptions/illustrations were miles ahead.
Please don't reply to me unless you have an actual argument as I busy playing IWD2:EE and drinking some french toast bastard.

dark urge playthrough is pretty great
it's turn-based so it's boring to play
watch it on youtube instead
Better, even. Starting my 5th run.
>Is it really that good?
It's better than just "good", probably the best RPG ever made, all things considered. Top 3 at the very least.
>generic bioware cutscene simulator with mind numbing gameplay from 40 years ago

No
yes, if it doesn't win every category its in during the VGAs it will be undeniable proof that the VGAs are rigged as fuck.
Pretty good. Made me realise sorcerers are the best magic users.
>I am magic incarnate, you are a nerd and a fag
>Fuck your books, suck my dick
I'd say yes. It's been a thoroughly absorbing experience for me, on par with how I felt playing RDR2.
The lack of a goblin love interest disturbs me.
Anon, that's a really ugly halfling.
They're great I know
no, AI bots shilled it into relevancy, it is pure ESG garbage disguised a D&D light
What's the best D&D vidya adaptation?
When it comes to mechanics, probably Temple of Elemental evil. Half of this thread would hate it though, cause it's turn based.
>Cast Grease
>win the game
Yeah, ToEE is easily abusable even after the mega patch made by the community.
Turn based (with skip animation button) is THE way to play CRPGs.
no no no no no
I bought it and really tried it out and cant even get a refund for it on steam

One thing that annoys me is that the Illithids are central to the story and we often get dialogue cutscenes with close up shots of Illithid faces, but their character models are subpar with plastic-looking textures. You look at Shadowheart and she's almost photorealistic, you look at the tavern cat and see that it's very nicely detailed too. But when you talk to a mind flayer, suddenly we're getting PS3 graphics. Why was this allowed?
because everybody with 10 working braincells knew that it was a larian game and was going to tank in quality every minute you played it
How do you mean? They look rubbery and gross, which is how they're supposed to look.
The point is that they look bad when compared to other models in the game under the same lighting conditions.
under flat lighting they would both look awful regardless. when seen as the game presents them for a large part the humans look good and the mind flayers look gross
Yes, among the greatest RPGs I've played including Fallout 1 and Deus Ex.
It was pretty good, played through it multiple times. Wouldn't pay full price for it, but a game would have to be a 11/10 masterpiece with no bugs or other problems for me to pay full price.
So get it if you can get it for like 30 bucks or free
It's good once you mod out all the gay sex and romance, yes
dunno. didn't play it. don't plan on playing it
I think it’s good but incredibly overrated. Takes forever to level up and the turn-based combat is unbelievably slow. I’m not a fan of the camera angle either, but that’s just me. I also hate games that don’t have a definitive, canonical story. It’s probably awesome if you like CRPGs though.
Is Bard fun to play?
Bard has some of the most fun dialogue interactions. Whether you like them in combat is going to depend on how you like playing
It's pretty alright. You get a lot of class-specific interactions and equipment, as well as a mix of magic, skill, and combat abilities, so you can toy around with different solutions. Personally, I prefer Barbarian.
>not BarDbarian
You can have both you know.
Yeah, just make sure to play as a bard
It's not good
its filled with naggers and fags
obviously is inferior to what it should have been
there is a reason they didnt show the statistics for average character created nor romance options
lmao
uhh, they did show these things though
They did, though. Most popular race was half-elf (narrowly beating out human), most popular class was Paladin, and the most popular romances were Shadowheart and Gale.
>popular race was half-elf
Why not just play a full-blooded human or elf? What's the special appeal of a fucking half-elf to all those people?
>Why are normies so fucking gay?
>normies are gay for not liking masculine bodied totally-not-a-US-muhreen personality "girl"
>He wouldn't a wookie
Might even see another patch between now and then so I get an even more polished experience.
just pirate it
or wait ~2 years for definitive edition
I came in wanting to hate it since it got praised and shilled so hard
Still wound up loving it
How far into Act 1 would I be if I've explored everywhere up to the goblin camp except for the swamp area down south, and just finished rescuing Halsin ?
have you been through the underdark?
Yeah. Went down there through the camp but only explored as deep as where you first see the Bullette creatures.
You're not even halfway.
Christ... well I mean that's fine I really love the experience so far.
>Is this an okay habit or will I eventually run into problems later down the line playing this cautiously ?
It doesn't really matter, just play how you want.
Yeah fair enough. I guess that is what larian would want me to do. Theres a lot of factors that go into a question like that which probably make it hard to answer aswell. Thanks anyway, anon.
I've gotten better at abusing the mechanics more creatively over time but yeah I was really bad at this. I'm honestly not used to the level of freedom this game allows you. That's definitely part of the reason I struggle. That seems like generally good avice, just keep experimenting and bullshit your way through an encounter if you have to haha.
you can always try the creche if the underdark is too hard for you
This is a fine approach, early game level differences are brutal. Around Level 5-6 you'll be strong enough to tackle enemies above you
act 3 wsa longer than act 1 and 2 combined for me
Act 1 and 2 are fantastic, act 3 is a slog.
Nah
Act 1 is fun once you hit level 3
Act 2 is a slog
Act 3 is great and extremely dense and only suffers from the level cap being 12
Without the cap you could probably be 14-15 before fighting the absolute
Act 3 is huge, but the narrative is coming to a close. It feels weird, even though I love most of it.
I was tricked into playing Witcher 3 too.
Not going to eat any more trash from western devs.
Did you play any of the other Witcher games beforehand?

Witcher 3 already is barely an RPG, but fucking Elden Ring?
The fact that half of the NPCs are black africans is such blatant pandering to current trends. You hardly ever see arab or asian people in the game.
I've just become gay at this point, no point in resisting.
yes its fun
If they finish chapter 3 in like 5 years of updates/dlcs, maybe.

"No"
D:OS2 suffered from every faction being Hitler so there was no good guy to root for at all
They tried to make BG3 the same but thankfully ended up changing it up a lot
>every faction being Hitler so there was no good guy to root for at all
Sounds like a massive non-issue. Is that it?
If you like that sort of story, but Larian's really overdone it by now and le subversion isn't as hot as it was a decade ago
lot of anons showing their ass in this thread. between the retards that played bg2 as children that couldn't read much less put 2 and 2 together and hail it as the best crpg ever and the other retards that are unable to read UI elements in bg3 and then the saddest of the lot, the polbabbies that can't handle gays n trannies without suffering a mental breakdown, and the pathfinder children that desperately insert themselves into every crpg discussion as if anyone gives a shit, it's been a fun baboon exhibit to scroll down.
Good enough for (you) to make hundreds of threads about.
First 2/3 are really that good, then act 3 falls apart hard and kind of sours the entire experience.
>act 3 falls apart
I keep seeing this opinion and I'm never sure if people mean that it becomes incoherent due to bugged dialogue and sequencing, or if they mean that the story, when working as intended, falls apart on its own merits. I've been playing Act 3 post-patch 4 and I haven't had any bugs. The story has flowed steadily and it has all made sense so far (I have done everything but the last boss). If you mean it falls apart in the sense that it wears thin and becomes less engaging, I could agree with that much.
I figured they were just copying criticisms of DOS2 and hadn't actually played the game.
i mean if the story didn't make sense that would be pathetic, it's not a high brow game by any means and is meant for stupid people so I would think the story would be very simplistic and for stupid people
the main quest is actually insanely comprehensive in act 3. what i mean when i say act 3 is a step down is that it is simply to dense for a third act. its bloated beyond compare with shit to do, there is so much content that it was actually a detriment to me enjoying what i would think of as the denouement of the story
I would agree, people who say act3 is unfinished have legit not played nor seen what's in it.
>no one can finish this game and say "i wish there had been more to do in the city of baldurs gate"
Upper city tho?
But I guess that would just mean putting half the quests slightly farther away.
It's both overwhelming and underwhelming
The massive amount of quests is held back by their bugginess or just being completely undercooked
>the Investigate SuHispanicious Toys quest leads absolutely nowhere and the Fireworks building is bugged as shit
>the Free the Artist is an absolute bugfest of a fight with the poltergeists
>the finale of Astarion's questline is barebones beyond belief, Cazador doesn't have any presence besides being a boss to fight
>the Investigate the Murders suffers from a bad case of quest markers
>the entire Zhentarim vs. Guild conflict is just wut
>the Free the Artist is an absolute bugfest of a fight with the poltergeists
that fucking stairwell was the maddest i have been at a game in a long time, after the fact though its also the funniest part of the game. im convinced they will have to rework that place.
If you have Fly and See Invisibility, it's managable with your mental state relatively intact. Fucking barely
It needs a major unfuck
my PC had permanent see invisibility, but the ghosts can repeatedly cast invisibility, and its an INDIVIDUAL check. for each ghost... so it was like, 60% invisible and 40% revealed at any given moment.
>The Ethel Quest is literally just a repeat of her Act 1 encounter
>Finding Dribbles is a waste when you can just pickpocket the Staff
>The Gondian AI is fucking suicidal in the Factory
>Sarevok and Viconia Bad Ending
Then you get to the evil brain's lair and 2 dozen intellect devourers that you fought at lv 1 come out and start randomly exploding. And if you're stupid enough not to swig an invisibility potion and fly to the final fight you have 2 dozen goblins to chew through while some bullshit bombards you. And then the final fight itself is a massive clusterfuck where you watch the AI diddle itself for an hour and a half. Truly BG3 is one of the games of all time
Skill issue
Only Act 1 is good.
it's tedious
It has drag queens and gays in it
So no it’s not good
It's the GOTY.
>b-but

Why would you ask that here? Ganker doesn't play video games and sure as hell doesn't know what games are good.
no, but I'm having fun
Its even better
>Mod game for second playthrough
>Larian rolls out update
>50 hour save now rendered completely broken
This was the push I needed to move on to another game.
You should know the risks of modding a game still receiving updates.
I know the risks you fucking retard. It doesn't make it any less annoying.
This is why I am waiting to play this game not going to improve the piss poor game only to get cucked from an update
I'm trans btw dunno if that matters..
I accept your concession
I accept you'll be hanging from your ceiling in another year or two so I don't mind
A hit dog hollers
GOTY baby
first half really is that good
second half is worse but also good
Where's the lie?
You seem pretty openly racist to me.
sorry sweaty you cant be racist against white people every modern leftist intellectual says so 🙂
It's good
>but is it THAT good?
No, people are just starved for games made by people that like games.
It's not good
It is
nuh uh
According to rumor, this game was quickly released so it wouldn't conflict with Starfield. Is that true? The two games don't seem similar...
Yup, but it wouldn't have been any better if they didn't move it up because larian is that incompetent
Can someone explain to me why the iron throne is an underwater prison now? In BG1 it was literally just a normal building in the lower city.
What a schizo thread?
>Could this game actually have an interesting world/story/characters?
>NOOO POLITCS AAAAAA
I don't care because I'm not a retard.
>actually you're wrong
everything I said is objective you tranime homosexual, you have no esoteric knowledge and are projecting your insecurities
>playing a crpg for the romance is normal, I'm not a pathetic retard trust me bro
a crpg for the romance
where did I say this tranime homosexual schizoid?
what is lost by making the romances silly and gay? keep dancing around the obvious
fags and women make worse games, this is objective
>Not lezzing it up with frog
NGMI
I just spent the past two weeks romancing frog as Durge. I took her on my first playthrough, that should be enough to satisfy you frogfags.
Act 1? Peak
Act 2? Very solid
Act 3? If you didn't drop it mid way, you're sub 85 IQ, sorry
Act 3 is a midwit filter.
Act 3 is a buggy mess with no redeeming characters, shit bosses, and unrewarding plot points.
>Raphael
>Shit boss
FOOL FOOL
HOW HARD YOU HAVE FOUGHT
BRAVE BRAVE
BUT IT'S ALL BEEN FOR NAUGHT
>1 okayish boss is enough to redeem 40% of the game
>Immediately backpedaling
I accept your concession
>tranny delusions
I accept you finding a rope
Would have been cool if they hadn't revealed just before the fight that Raphael is a homo who keeps a male incubus in his bed.
>Male incubus
So, an incubus?
Well it was more like
>a succubus (male)
So, an incubus?
Yes
>narcissist devil who forces his demon sex slave to look like him while he plows him
>sometimes makes him turn into a female version of himself to keep it Hispanicy
It has nothing to do with homosexuality, his kink is selfcest. Pretty based villain writing.
If you use speak with the dead on the incubus after killing him he reveals Raphael is always the bottom. Which is fine, being a homo rebelling against daddy is fitting for a satanic entity.
OP wouldn't know because he hasn't played the game, he just sits here 16 hours a day talking about games he's never played pretending to have controversial opinions of them so that people give him attention, and the mods let him do it
Doesn't this game have black trannies in it? Of course it's not a good game. Only trannies think it's good and no one cares what trannies think
Anime site
Just the one, and it's a literal circus freak.
>kill all the forced diversity characters in this game
>world feels empty and barren
Lol, lmao even
You tell me *sharts*
Fashionbros.
Left or right. I already know which one i'm gonna pick because one is OP as fuck, but i'm curious on Ganker's taste
left is better and looks less gay
>left is better
The right circlet is pic related. Literally one of the most broken helmets in the game. It basically gives you a permanent +5 damage to your attacks because it's always fucking procc'd (think it's bugged)
damn you finally chose yay good for you bro
glad you went with the big one to coverup the fag tattoo Go with the left
neither, circlets are for Shadowheart only.
Ganker really has shit taste doesn't it. Left looks rancid, right is more nuanced and matches the color of the armor more.
You nerds probably wear Gankeridya clothes IRL
The bulkier circlet looks cooler, the one of the right is overdesigned and has that queer chain
>a giant metalic band with a zodiac sign gemstone in the center is less overdesigned and less gay than a gigachad headband
Disgusting.
But lets be honest, both are faggy because circlets are inherently faggy, Only one of them sticks out like a sore thumb though
The bulky one looks cool because it looks like something a dwarf would wear unironically which makes it less gay
>it's not gay because a fat manlet would wear it
Ah, now I see your perspective, I just had to sit on the ground to see it, little man
fookin' knife ear
right looks way better than left. Left also has a passive buff on Githyanki no? So it's wasted on your drow.
id love a planescape remake in the same engine. flesh out the ending, add more characters and events.
Torment's ending is pretty fleshed-out as it is, though, and it wraps up TNO's story nicely. I'd be more interested in Larian making a new Planescape campaign, or maybe even a Spelljammer game like they'd originally wanted.
guy wants to hear a funny joke?
trans rights
It was alright, helped a lot there's so few big games that aren't total dogshit these days
It broke gaming for the next 10 years at least. Every other game that has a story will be compared to it and feel shallow
Sneed
What game(s) should an ebic badedboy like myself play?I hate wokies and minorities btw
GTA, you can hire a prostitute and then kill her and take your money back
/pol/tards always just play goyslop. Its in the name, slop for goys, so go play those and pretend you aren't a failed normalfag. Its either extremely generic AAA releases like Starfield and Call of Duty or some surface level toddler old game that some e-celeb they follow said is le based and redpilled because its dumb enough for their audience to complete and they can larp as being hardcore because its le retro.
>meet minthara
>end up fucking her within 30 minutes of meeting her
>meanwhile recruit Karlach early in act 1
>slave away for her, finding all the infernal irons etc and progressing her questline
>decide my dialogue options purely around improving her approval
>act 3 and all I've gotten is a fucking hug
seriously fuck this game
>he wasn't here when it was revealed her entire romance was cut
Got her sex scene early act 2. You just messed up some where my dude.
Her date might is fucking garbage tho.jesus
How many months has it been now? Yeah, it's better than that.
yeah realtime combat is definitely *checks notes again* Slower??? than turnbased, that's definitely something a person has said before
not sure who you're arguing with in your head but Real Time With Pause is much slower than turn based if you care enough to try to play optimally.
>RetardWP andies malding
The meltdown that this sweeping the Game Awards is going to cause is going to be glorious.
It's shit. Nobody posts gameplay. It's all coomer fags and ntr homosexuals posting their frog waifu and the whore.
There's a reason people don't post gameplay
>This is what lefty nu-Ganker considers 10/10 gameplay
lol
Yes
god that's bad
My favorite part about this webm is that he's playing on easy mode, which I know because otherwise that room is full of explosive barrels.
I thought explorer mode had double hp for players
I do not know, I played on tactician. 🙂
About a month after the game's release, so this is likely before then
holy shit that's terrible
is the character building alright at least?
SOUL
>you failed at casting the spell
>those Hispanic turd worlder spell names
yeah this is not surprising. no one with an IQ higher than a monkey could like TES
Elder Scrolls is largely liked by high IQ players.
Pick grapes faster so you can get a computer than can run BG3.
why would you want to play this
takes 15 seconds to end a turn on one guy
Because running around consuming bad fan fiction and machine gun firing fireball from a ring is not healthy for your brain. If its not properly stimulated it will decay and you'll wind up with alzheimers like the skyrim grandma.
>Nobody posts gameplay.
Whenever I did schizos just had a meltdown. There has always been steady gameplay discussion, you just chose to ignore it to search instead for things to be mad about, because, lets be honest, your favelatop can't even run it.
Why are none of the party members like this?
They are.
Which ones, exactly? There are only 3 human companions and none of them really fit the mold of traditional fantasy protagonists.
Because it takes place in Faerûn, not Krynn.
Ok, why are none of the companions like this?
Cause they all got eaten by the dracolich
Makes sense, dracoliches prefer to eat valorant heroes, not what amounts to amoral theatre kids.
They certainly taste better and you're less likely to get nasty diseases from eating them.
It's amazing that Larian created a game where every character is essentially this guy.
Pretty much, except they also get naked
That pic literally happens in BG3.
It literally doesn't.
Yes it does.
>fighting an undead dragon in a cave
It does actually.
oh no no no no no
No, he's right, an exact battle like that takes place.
You mean a party with a female human sorcerer, male human cleric, male human wizard and male human fighter(paladin?) actually appears in BG3? I highly doubt that.
If I made a human cleric, a human fighter, took Gale with me and thought about bringing a sorceror, then yeah I could recreate that image
that's a rogue you retard
Just play with friends
Why are you even talking about that when it wasn't the point?
>BG3 is exactly the thing I pretend to be nostalgic for but I don't realize it because I'm merely pretending
Or maybe you could try reading the actual post.
>>BG3 is exactly the thing I pretend to be nostalgic for
Not at all.
It's not a nostalgia trip in the slightest, maybe if it were 3.5e
Still a very decent game
>4 companions
>zombie dragon fight
>underground
damn, this is spot on for a fight in the game
And none of the companions are really like the characters depicted in the art.
>none of the characters look like my frank frazetta blacked porn art!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
shut up RETARD
Where are you getting Frank Frazetta from?
I just don't find the concept of liberal queers with "tragic backstories" going around fighting dragons to be all that interesting or realistic is all.
>Liberal queens invented cringe tabletop tragic backstories
You have never played tabletop
Every fucking teenager always wants the edgiest darkest tragickest backstory ever when playing RPGs
It has always been like this, it will always be like this.
The characters are the ones who are liberal queers, anon. Why can't even just one of them be a heterosexual, human male fighter who adventures for fame, fortune and fun?
That's early access Wyll, but you would have disavowed him for being a nagger
Yeah Drizzt and the gang are the very model of trad conservative types without tragic backstories
>I just don't find the concept of liberal queers with "tragic backstories" going around fighting dragons to be all that interesting or realistic is all.
don't play dnd then
I haven't in a while really, it went to fucking shit and never recovered. I just like to laugh at their failures. This is the same company that turned Bane into a gay k-pop singer.
>I haven't in a while really
you never did
you are a smug prick who is a pain to be around
are you retarded? would you also piss and shit your pance if i told you phalanx for the SNES doesnt also offer you action packed banjo gameplay with peepaw on the porch? literal middleschooler logic youre following
If your game doesn't have banjo gameplay its shit and soulless.
youre right. i want more six string bangers in my games too anon, its a true trahedy i dont get my ear filled with that glorious twang on a daily basis. you know what bg3 really lacks? banjos.
It's a generous 7/10. Writing is serviceable, but pales in comparison to other RPGs. The party members suck ass, too.
No. Its middling at best.
What character does he play?
Necromancer
the merchant
the shills will claim it is, but everyone ive asked said act 3 is a complete broken mess and needs like atleast a years worth of patches to become playable, apparently the game was more unplayable over time especially on consoles lol.
ill wait for this before i play it, im sure this trash will win GOTY, which is just fucking sad
Patch 4 was a dumpster fire apparently
I think the game gets carried by the gameplay. Everything else is just OK to mediocre.
Astarion is the only good companion in this game.
Karlach's dialogue in particular makes my skin crawl.
>CRPG
>good
lmao
>>CRPG
>>good
name one CRPG where the gameplay isn't a detriment
>I only like action games this means everyone else must only like action games as well
No.
Didn't even answer the question
Bet you think VNs have good gameplay too
>Didn't even answer the question
Baldur's gate 3.
Happy now? Crpg combat is part of the experience.
Don't like it? Fuck off and play some shooter.
>BG3
>good gameplay
RNG combat will never be good combat
Dice roll skill checks will never make for good mechanics
Illusion of choice, nothing you do makes much difference in the long run
>b-but I can push the enemy off a cliff and skip combat t-that's good gameplay
>good gameplay
That wasn't even your question, retard
>Dice roll skill checks will never make for good mechanics
That's your opinion
So, once again the gameplay is a detriment to the game and it would be more enjoyable if it didn't have gameplay altogether
>the gameplay is a detriment to the game and it would be more enjoyable if it didn't have gameplay altogether
Your proof of that? How many people would have played the game without combat in it?
It's almost as having combat sequences interrupt the talking ones is a good way to keep the player entertained over a 100 hours long adventure.....
But you won't admit you are wrong, you have your stupid low IQ opinion to defend until your last breath after all.
>How many people would have played the game without combat in it?
Are we going to pretend that the type of person who enjoyed BG3 wouldn't enjoy a story only mode?
Story mode still has combat, it's easy, but it's there to interrupt the talking.
You don't understand combat in RPGs and it shows.
It's not the meat but it has to be there for stakes to exist, to give your character the cool factor, and to make the RPing less heavy on the person
Tabletop DND started as dungeon crawling, and people loved the turn based combat grind
You should just go play DOOM and leave genres you don't understand in peace.
Hear this one
>3d6
Heh? Whatchathink
doesnt even get to 20. now 5d4 on the other hand...
isn't really optimal because yes, the tail ends are both very rare but you start to impede on the chcanes of succesful skill checks by making the middle rolls too likely
>doesnt even get to 20
And? Let go of your preconceived understanding, expand your horizon
The time for autistic math to figure out hit chance due to not using a multiple of 10 has come
Go away tim cain
Get a trip.
You can filter images, newfriend.
Which is quite helpful when you're not dealing with retards who just pick a random image from their misc anime folder.
The point of the d20 is to make fights dynamic. You are wrong and this is actual real honest to god zoomer game design where rolls have to be rigged to not hurt feelings.
yes, it is to make fights dynamic. however, the probability of a player having an action ripped away form them is WAY to likely on a d20. crit failure is a simple mistake with a fun gm or a character killing tragedy if you have a sadistic one.
5% for any roll sounds good and fair but that just means you have an equal chance for just as many shitty rolls as you do good ones, before even taking into account modifiers and bonuses. 2d10 is more fun for my parties
I accept the existence of critical failure, but it should be 1%, hence the numerous d100 systems
i will counter this by saying that so many tables use crit failures on skill checks as a way to add flavor to the story and variety of the game experience
That's true but it's the most common houserule in existence. I was actually shocked to learn it isn't official after years and years
When the failure chance is that low you could go the whole game without seeing a single critical failure. It's a horrendously dumb idea.
>Gameplay is only combat
Zoomer moment
I prefer bg1 over bg2. I just like a more chill outdoors setting that transitions into urban adventuring. Athkatla is so fucking corny, and dnd as a setting collapses once you hit mid levels.
