Is it worth paying the Nvidia premium just for DLSS?

So I'm currently planning my first pc build in 7 years and for my GPU I'm debating between the 4070 TI super and the 7900xt. The latter is $50 cheaper, has more VRAM and is faster by like 9% but it also consumes more power when idle and obviously doesn't have DLSS and lacks RT performance. How much of a gamechanger is DLSS when compared to FSR and is it worth paying extra just for the NVIDIA feature suite? Also, came across a lot of horror stories about amd drivers, but unsure if those are true.
Some also claim that many games don't work as well with AMD.

dlss is literally just poor cope for people that can't run games at the resolution of their monitor.
it makes every game blurry and washed out, take that shit off every time i game

DLSS is just FSR both look like shit and are shortcuts for developers that have lost the art of optimizing their games. Really the only difference is the availability of better AI shit for Nvidia. Also the amd driver shit is fine they've been fine for almost a decade the only problem i have with them is that windows keeps uninstalling my drivers with their stupid fricking weekly updates.

judging by all that shit you wrote it's pretty obvious you'd rather go for nvidia

Yes, Anon. Those of us in the real world labor force make $100 an hour. Especially in 2024, where thousands upon thousands of white collar jobs have been wiped out in the tech industry.

Instead of focusing on building a computer that relies on a 4070TI and DLSS, how about figuring out which games would actually need it. Telling you before the regrets set in.

All modern triple AAA titles at 1440p high. I was also considering DLSS for futureproofing

And how many of those AAA games are actually worth playing?

This. I bought a cheaper GPU and got 256 gigs of ram instead so that I can keep more browser tabs and programs open.

4070TiS and 7900XT perform nearly the same in rasterized games on average.
FSR2.0 is awful even at 1440p Q, DLSS has some issues in certain games but it's usable because of how shit TAA is. I had 3060Ti in the past so I have some perspective.
But if you still have 1080p monitor lol then you should not use any upscaling.
I have yet to find a game that would not work well on my 7900XT new or old. For DX9-11 I suggest you should use DXVK even on windows. Unless it's multiplayer game then you might get banned.
7900XT needs to drop in price to compete with 4070TiS.

Modern games utilize TAA and upscaling so DLSS is very much needed.

Even as an Nvidia user I play games either on native or with FSR. DLSS gives everything plastic look, like a Pixar movie. FSR's only downside is in-game screens/maps have pixelated artifacts when moving, which is a non-issue in 99% cases.

upscaling sucks even with DLSS you're better off just getting a monitor that isn't oversized and running your games at native res
