why would you play old games? new games are better
Not really.
Fpbp dkc doesn't even have a story or cut scenes or dialog or discernible character development. It's just a bunch of moving and jumping and specifically reflexive button pushing. The plot must have been like half a page long written out. Is that even a game?
This, GOSH. So much this. How do I give Ganker pass to someone?
I know he's baiting but he's kind of not wrong. Story helps keep you engaged with the characters. There has to be a good balance of both. That's why nobody cares about Atari shit.
Doom has no story and it's one of the best games ever made
Name one platformer that is objectively better off without a story or character development.
Contra
late megaman x games comes to mind
Braid
N++
Mario 3D World. The few "cutscenes" it had genuinely brought down the experience and made it feel cheap.
After decades of playing games its incredibly hard to find a game these days that does storytelling in a unique way. I don't even bother anymore and just skip it or stop playing if I have to sit through endless cutscenes that I've seen done a million times already. There's only so many character types out there, it's all extremely redundant.
Flopspoken
Tetris has no story and its beloved worldwide.
Minecraft only gets worse with each attempt of a story mode.
Nobody cares about Atari shit because Atari games were fucking awful. You could give a zoomers a NES game with zero plot and they'd have a blast, no cap.
>people dislike the blocky clunky atari games of yesteryear because the blocks didn't have enough LGBT backstory
fuck off
the problem with atari is that 99% of the games dont really have an ending and its pretty much just high score hunting
the 1%, however, are shit
That gay croc put Diddy in a barrel and stole DK's bananas, more than enough reason to go ape on someone
>Story helps keep you engaged with the characters.
The manual has all the story I need to motivate myself.
>he plays games for story
if you aren't bored of story games by the age of 18 you are brainlet. if you want a story go read a book or watch a movie. im here for a finely tuned gameplay loop with quality sound design.
last story game i enjoyed was dead space
>Story
>Movies
Lmao what an utter brainlet take.
>Books
Spoken like someone who doesn't ever read any books. In short; a cheap excuse with no actual substance or intent behind it. You're just too much of a basic bitch to care about story regardless of medium.
luckily i was born before a time where technology wasn't so intrusive and got to the experience a proper medium, sadly i work too much these days.
this is something you will never get to experience. and i am glad, you truly are the most pathetic deluded retarded generation
>video games? I paid $60 to watch a movie not to interact in a world.
What would DK be like if it were written by millenials for zoomers?
Probably Crash 4
npc moment. Probably triple jabbed.
>would you play old games? new games are better
no new platformer is better than dkc 1 2 or even 3. DKCR is not even on the same level.
>played this game again recently
>realize 90% of the difficulty comes from weird inertia in your movements fucking up everything
Skill issue
No argument there
The fun of DKC is chaining rolls and shit to tear through levels in 30 seconds.
1 has no difficulty at all
Are there any cool romhacks of the DKC trilogy? Something with completely new levels, no kaizo/difficulty gayry
People are waking up
I will not watch your 6 hour long videos.
Yes? I recently played Thief Gold for the first time and it made me realize for one just how good stealth games can be, and two that nothing has come even close to it outside of Thief II.
I wish non-pretentious story games existed. I don't want an english grad student warbling about depression and society, I want a shlocky pulpy story with twists and tropes and fun characters.

All of them. have a nice day oxygen waste
DKC still holds up
One of my main games I play on my Steam cock.
It was a new game for me when it came out.
Considering that retro games are superior yes they are good for you
