Honestly anon I think [...] is being too easy on you. If you can’t handle dead space I don’t think you'll be able to make it through 7. That said it is a fantastic game and if you think you can manage you should absolutely try.
The guest house section (first ~45 minutes) is genuinely pretty spooky but after that it becomes more goofy and action focused. I'd say the difference between DS and RE7 is that DS is more about panic and adrenaline whereas RE7 builds horror more through anxiety and dread. (though it does have a couple jump scares too)
I think I might have to skip this one...I hate being such a pussy
Do you have any friends to play with anon? I know it’s a lot easier when you’re not alone. Heck, I pretty much watched a buddy of mine play through the entirety of outlast on my Xbox
There is few legit jumpscares...most of the horror is the atmosphere and one particulat boss fight...i think you will be fine

I just think everything up until Lucas and then the boat afterwards are all really claustrophobic and stressful in a way he might not be able to deal with. Big jump scare moments aside. Like everything to do with the basement of the main house is really spooky, I’d say handily more so than dead space.

Also mods don't work on the new "RTX" versions of RE2, RE3, and RE7 so...
since we're on topic, how does 7 compare to the first Resident Evil (remake) in terms of puzzles, back tracking etc? I'm a fricking brainlet with adhd, so constantly being left to guess wtf I'm supposed to do kind of turned me off from the series, even though I really enjoy the concept and the over the top monsters (atleast I pushed myself to finish the RE1)
Its what you would expect from a modern reboot of resident evil. That goes for the puzzles as well. I never looked anything up in my first play through while in the first resident evil I had to.
If you’re really a brainlet you might miss a weapon or something but honestly it’s not terrible at all. There’s a very fun puzzle at the mid point that my first time through I enjoyed the hell out of
It's similar in design to REmake in the sense that it drops you in a puzzle filled house (estate really) and you slowly open up each section as you get keys and solve puzzles. It's not nearly as complex as REmake (it's a 2017 game afterall) but it feels like a good RE-lite.
It's the scariest RE game for sure. But I don't think it's that scary. You mentioned dead space. The bit in DS where that invincible monster follows you around is basically RE7 for the first half/third.
There's so many good horror games in VR, but I can't handle them because like OP, I'm a card carrying horror game weenie, and the idea of being spooked and jumpscared in VR is just unpleasant to me.
Isn't there a demo you can try? Unless they removed it, I know I played the demo on Steam, I remember the demo showing you what you can expect from the game.
It's amazing in VR. I legit had to put down the game several times in the first hours of gaming due to the disturbing nature of the game in VR. It's worth getting a PSVR just for this game
The first half can be pretty spoopy but its an overall great game.
For context I can't handle games like Dead Space since they spook me
So will RE7 be too much for me?
There is few legit jumpscares...most of the horror is the atmosphere and one particulat boss fight...i think you will be fine

Get your boyfriend to play it and you can hold onto him and watch
Why you got to be a dick head man?
Oh cmon, it's just a joke man

Really? The two big jumpscares are scripted as frickMarge in the door and Eveline laugh after the tapeThe boss fight might be a problem i can agree...

Fair anough

The guest house video scene is one of the best bits in gaming, and was also one of the best game demos of all time imo.
i wouldn't play it then maybe when you are old enough to post here
t. dead space stressed me out had to go back and play it when i was like 25
2sp00kiee4U
Yeah it is very scary but you get to play as Ethan.
Its scary as hells for the first 5 hours and then again for another 2
Is it worth rolling back for any of the mods?
My computer can't even run RTX but thanks for the update anyway I guess, Capcom
moron alert
How is that moron alert.

They undid that last week. That's why the alert is going off.
They didn't "undo" it. I'm rolling back the updates right now. Goodbye 3D audio and whatever else they added.
it's scary for how shit it is
It's a lot scarier than 4, probably the scariest in the series actually. I'd say try 8 first but you'll ruin a major spoiler for 7 if you do...
Probably if you thought RE4 was scary

You will be fine.RE7 puzzles are pretty easy and the backtracking is just to get extra items/weapons not obligatory.
how about in the 2 & 3 remakes?

thanks, might actually give them a try then

>Is Resident evil 7 scary?
Some of it is, and also has some of the best horror scenes in gaming
it's the scariest one easily
I was close to having a panic attack playing fighting this boss in VR for the first time.
There's so many good horror games in VR, but I can't handle them because like OP, I'm a card carrying horror game weenie, and the idea of being spooked and jumpscared in VR is just unpleasant to me.
damn if only that shit wasn't exclusive to the psvr
Isn't there a demo you can try? Unless they removed it, I know I played the demo on Steam, I remember the demo showing you what you can expect from the game.
Yes. I am playing it now and it is scary.
RE8 is back to being an action game.
RE1 and RE7 seem like the only true horror games in the series.
The doll house section is scarier than anything in RE7. But I agree with you RE8 focused more on action, the DLC seems to lean more into horror.
It's amazing in VR. I legit had to put down the game several times in the first hours of gaming due to the disturbing nature of the game in VR. It's worth getting a PSVR just for this game
Just play it, dude. And the DLC as well because there's A LOT of it with some fun and darkly comedic ones too.
