Then they released THE very first major REmake in 2002, providing everything the old fans loved about the classic and then some, starting the remaking fever and demand for similar, faithful recreations.
And now after nearly 20 years, we are getting nothing but dumbed-down, generic horror shooters with none of the replay value and fun.

It completely changed the campy atmosphere, introduced even spongier enemies that inexplicably respawn, the controls were far easier to use to dodge enemies, and all I hear about that game is praise, only because you dummies feel nostalgic about it.

Literally bullshit. Pretty much all challenge and tactical planning was cut from DEmakes of 2-3 because you could literally just flick up your gun and blast zeds' to their leg or head while running. Even from the distance, thanks to the near-perfect stability.

The gameplay looks fantastic and I'm glad they got the color grading of the initial first scene in the village down correctly, however I'm definitely not a fan of the new Voice Acting because it sounds like everyone is tired or trying to also smirk while reading the lines like a Marvel Movie quip.

I was skeptical/didnt have high hopes for this simply based on the downwards trajectory capcom has been on starting from the cracks in REmake 2 and how they fully manifested in demake 3 and the gutted one and done cinematic experience 8, but the second the roundhouse kick happened in the gameplay demo I started paying attention and literally everything they showed gameplay wise after that (and the new story trailer) gave me unironic mild shivers from the excitement. I dont "need" this but everything theyve showed so far looks like an incredible game, my only worry is if the pacing is somehow fricked up because they extended the start so much it might take you far longer to even get to the village encounter on replays where the spooky slow crawl flashlight exploration aspect just doesnt work the same as on a first playthrough

Seeing the new gameplay footage reminded me of Matthewmatosis' video on context sensitivity, and how little there was of it in RE4 besides the kick and quick time events. It looks like they added a context sensitive instakill with the knife for downed enemies as well as blocking moves, and there are probably a bunch more in the game we didn't get to see. Kind of a sign of the times I guess, everything needs to be dumbed down for the most casual of players to get in.
