like all 3d sonic, boost was always bad.
>Unleashed Project
cringe
>no WereKratos levels

it's an objective improvement
No it isn't just for the mere fact it uses Generations' casualized physics and mechanics.
lmfao fuck off with your "casualized physics" you can't even tell me what the actual difference is.
You wouldn't get it since you're a low IQ shitskin. Stomping, air boost, and drifting are all gimped in some manner for Generations. Even jumping was simplified to just three states (low, medium and highest). You only played the Unleashed mod on PC and it shows.
I'd gladly simplified movement over bad movement, Unleashed controls like garbage and platforming is a complete misery
Sounds like you just suck at games.
Spunds like you can't accept difference in opinion, btw I've played through Unleashed twice and gotten at least 20 S ranks I don't "just suck" you fucking retard
You suck at games and typing.
The stomp should have never been a move in Sonic in the first place but the fact that Generations at least doesn't make you slide all over the place when you're trying to hit small switches with it is a huge plus.
And also the fact that you actually have some control over Sonic in mid air so the game can actually have some platforming lmao
How abput that framerate? If I was recording footage of my two Unleashed playthroughs I wouldn't have to dig deep in order to showcase Unleashed's obsession with dropped inputs, amd it suuuuuuuuuucks
Another way Generations is inferior is by limiting light speed dash and wall jumping to scripted areas. I honestly don't remember if the mod maintains that but the fact that the jump was kept as the inferior Generations version makes it the worst way to play Unleashed's stages.
Is there a single situation in either game where you'd want to use those techniques in spots you're not supposed to anyway?
I've tried Generations with a light dash anywhere mod and most of the time doing it just flung me off the edge.
In unleashed the light speed dash is insanely useful in stages like cool edge and the desert level with a lot of turns because you can use it to get back on track quickly without falling off
I can think of a few parts in Chun-nan or whatever it's called. In Generations the lightspeed dash flings you forward more than in Unleashed or other games due to being faster.
>Not liking the humans
fuck you
>less content is le good!
Sounds like cope to me.
Quality over quantity.
That's why I love Frontiers, it's really conservative with adding extra shit while being Shadow levels of monotonous
>WereKratos
People who shit on Unleashed literally have no arguments other than "hurr durr GoW" and "muh music"
It's God of War with slower platforming, more passive enemies, heavy frame drops (unless you have an XSX lol), and a limited moveset.
I really hope to be able to play GoW someday and see just how bs these comparisons are or not. Not saying GoW won't be better (I mean it better be since it focuses on this type of gameplay where as Unleashed just had it for a one off) but that doesn't mean Unleashed is bad. I just suspect it will be reasonably better, but not a million miles ahead or anything like that.
It's considerably better. You can accurately emulate GoW 1 and 2 with PCSX2 Nightly.
i would say god of war dosent have incredibly deep combat either and can be braindead if you play on normal difficulty and I would argue combat isn't entirely the main focus ether since theres a mix of platforming, puzzle solving and story bits still the combat is much more of focused and better than unleashed though but like you said dont expect it to be leagues better
sanic was always good
3d sanic was always good
>boost was always bad
stay filtered, still hands down one of my favorite Sonic games with Colors, Generations and Mania.
People would have loved the beat em up sections if it was with Ristar
>Fall from space
>Stretchy arms because.... reasons
Like dude, you even had the polls to swing from. Ristar had to be a cut concept.
>Implying anyone gave a shit about other Sega properties back then/
This game is pretty damn good. It took me over a year to finish it because it sucks at first... Then you get good. Even the werehog stages are fun to zip through and most of the combat can be skipped. The battle music is dreadful though, if that was changed I'd probably have no issue with the werehog at all.
>It took me over a year to finish it because it sucks at first... Then you get good
That happened with me too. I started it, didn't really like it at first and thought it was frustrating, put it in my backlog for a year and then when I came back to it I ended up really liking the game and beat it
All they have to do is take the regular music, make it layers so it becomes more intense for the battle music (so it flows nicely in and out of battle, and the battle music is themed on the location) and make it more obvious which enemies can be skipped, and boom, 99% of the Werehog's issues are solved. The "puzzle" sections could maybe be tweeked so they're not as slow too.
They obviously knew that 06 was a dud and tried to fix things.
As someone who played them all recently it's literally the worst boost formula game.
Cope and seethe.
the hell is a kind of list is that?
A correct one.
>CD above Sonic 2
>Colors above fucking anything
>Forces above Sonic 2
holy shit actually have a nice day
Sonic 2 is the shittiest classic game sorry you had to find out like this.
I mean I agree in the level design aspect but Forces and Colors are easily worse
Sonic Forces is bumped up 6 or so spots on the list purely due to the fact that you can make a cute dog girl in it and then go online and play with other people's cute dog girls.
i mean thats a ok reason but the level design doesn't make that worthwhile since you could be doing that in a better game like Sonic Battle R or something
I think for what it is the level design is fine.
Like the game is at its best in the avatar stages and the wispons mean the same level can be approached in multiple ways which is fun.
The fact that the game encourages this through SOS missions where you use other people's characters and weapons makes it better.
Like yeah the levels could be longer and have more going on in general but I think that's a case of them not being designed for a single playthrough, they're designed around the fact that this is a semi-live service game where you're expected to play the same level 6+ times through daily missions.
As someone who's into MMOs I was just bound to like Forces more than the average person since it's the exact same gameplay loop - do repetitive tasks to fill up a bar that gives you stuff to make your character prettier.
My god she's cuuuuuuuuuuuute, I really wush the avatar was in a better game
>Forces not even close to the bottom
So your opinion is worthless then, good to know.
you got some garbage ass taste
>sonic unleashed that low
>sonic forces over cd, 1, 2 and unleashed
>sonic colors over anything
Awful list, where did you get it from? I hope to God you didn't make that embarrassing list yourself Anon...
I did, it even has a little text blurb explaining why Colors is actually good and everyone hating on it is stupid!
Well post the link to it, or the blurb itself so we can read it and laugh even more.
Sure, its written in kind of a stupid way since this is meant to be like a general review site but you know.
>3D
Stopped reading there
Seems to check out to me.
>deliberately acts ignorant
You know damn well exactly what we mean. CD, 3 or K aren't called 3D Sonic games despite having "3D" special stages.
Anon you're severely overblowing how much 2D is in the game compared to 3D.
I'd say it's about the same ratio as what you'd find in your average Crash Bandicoot game.
Anon, the vast majority of the game is 2D, posting the few stages that have more 3D (and still even have some 2D) doesn't change this fact. Also Crash games still mostly retain 3D control despite there being 2D areas, unlike boost 2D sections.
Do not feed the retard
Again, I wouldn't say vast majority, there's enough 3D happening to where I'd never call it a full 2D game, maybe like a 60-40 ratio of 2D to 3D.
And I don't see how retaining full control in Crash is relevant when the level design only accounts for left to right movement, seems like a negligible distinction.
In some sections this is true but there's a fair amount of 3D platforming still.
its not just that there's more 2d than 3d, you almost have nothing to do in 3d sections. in that pic alone, there is nothing happening
Post some 3D platforming sections
>Colors
>3D
Exquisite bait, but no (you)'s for you
every time I've replayed colors i've enjoyed it less and less. you are actually deranged.
Getting this screenshot after spending so much time playing Generations and Forces made me realize I really should have mentioned how well Sonic controls in Colors, it's legitimately buttery smooth and probably the most responsive he's ever felt in a 3D game.
>I really should have mentioned how well Sonic controls in Colors, it's legitimately buttery smooth and probably the most responsive he's ever felt in a 3D game.
That's probably the only somewhat correct thing you've said about Colors. I've even seen Colors haters say they like the controls too. Adventure is still the best though
>Colors is actually good
HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH good one
Honestly, as much as Sonic2fags will seethe, it's really is the shittiest classic Sonic game next to CD. Both games fall into the same extremes that make it bad, plus the end half the game being dogshit compared to the first half.
>it's really is the shittiest classic Sonic game next to CD.
Filtered
Sonic 2 was my first Sonic game. Buy fandom logic it sohuild be my only favorite sanic game.
The fact it's hold right 2 win before boostshit is why it's bad. Sonic without platforming is a shit anime.
>2
>CD
>same extremes
CDs 'extreme' flaw was the maze-like level design, of which 2 did not incorporate in any capacity aside from arguably Chemical Plant.
>Colours and Forces
I was gonna say this is bait but Sonic fans really are this delusional.
>Forces that high
I like the Werehog stages and would let Werehog rail me.
Unleashed was the second Sonic game by that team, following 06. You judge which turned out better.
op has never been more correct
sonic turns into a fucking werewolf whoever thought that was a cool idea needs to be executed
It all becomes bizarre after Heroes for some reason.
LET THE SPEED MEND IT MEND IT MEDN IT
Yeah fuck this game, Colours and Generations improved dramatically on these pretty crap foundations. Werehog was fun but you still gotta play the shite dat stages and collect a billion medals to get to it, not to mention the awful PS3 load times. Wii Unleashed was always better by far
06 and Unleashed both have longer load times on PS3.
Unleashed foundation was fine, the biggest issue was mapping the hoping attack and air boost to the same button was admittedly a stupid idea.
>Wii Unleashed was better
Now I know you're bullshitting, it had more night stages, no hub worlds and the level design was far worse than the PS3/360 versions.
It was the next big Sonic game after '06. Some people's whole careers started by making fun of '06. Whether or not they fed their families depends on how hard they flamed '06 that day.
Even if Sonic Team released a Sonic Adventure 3 where Rouge comes out your TV and fucks you as a pre-order bonus it would still get a 3/10 from gamespot because it came out right after '06.
Rouge is overrated as fuck anyway, Blaze and Vanilla are where it's at
(and Silver, he bi af)
For me its homing attack and boost being the same button
I like it a lot but that's probably because I just remember being blown away by how cool Boost felt to use before I knew it would become as shitty and ubiquitous as it is. Plus the whole "World Adventure" side of it makes for fun level locations and it had great music and visuals that hold up to this day.
Really, outside of the nighttime stages (which in retrospect, I don't hate as much anymore even though they are decidedly not good) and the subpar but inoffensive plot, it's probably the last Sonic game I really enjoyed.
Generations wasn't bad, getting 3D Green Hill (again), Chemical Plant, and Sky Sanctuary was novel at least.
moron it's just GoW: Furry edition, but with worst controls, gamefeel and, well, isn't the appeal of Sonic. Sonicfags seethed over GoW Rag so why would they want GoW 15 years ago? They are two separate fanbases.
No one got "filtered". It's just not Sonic. I don't want half a good game. I want a full Sonic game, not half of that and a snoymovie "game".
Dimps Unleashed is better than Sonic Team Unleashed outside of visuals and Eggmanland. They're both decent games. In terms of games with Boost I prefer the Rush games (they invented Boost despite being 2D, makes sense Dimps did it better in Unleashed), Generations, Frontiers, and Black Knight to Unleashed.
There's no reason for the Werehog to be in the game in the first place other than to pad it out. It's just like the alternate gameplay styles in Adventure games; this isn't what I play Sonic for.
every time I see someone praise this game or call it the best sonic games its almost always e-celebs and there fanbase who can't think for themselves
Everytime I see someone hate this game it's always other e-celebs and their fanbases who can't think for themselves, and just accuse people of liking it because "hurr durr x or y streamer said so"
its far more common to see e-celebs epically the sonic ones praise this game than it is to see people hate on it back then yeah but we arn't in the its cool to shit on sonic era anymore
When the FUCK are they going to port it with 60fps? Is the only thing stopping them the fact that Jason voices Sonic in this one?
>Is the only thing stopping them the fact that Jason voices Sonic in this one
Not even close. Even if you like the game, surly you must realise that the game is (unfairly) heavily criticised by "critics" (remember that stupid ign video where they jumped OVER ramps and into pits and struggling to understand how boost works?) The fanbase was a bit split on it too, though that has changed over the years and it's now seen as better than Generations. But still, that would be reason enough for them to not want to port it. They also just don't really do ports in general, even games like SA 1 or 2 haven't had more up to date ports recently, for instance. Oh well, at least there's the Series S/X 60 fps patch with backwards compatibility, a few minor camera/audio bugs though, but nothing major.
>muh criticism
>from two thousand and fucking eight
That seems more believable, however, I do not care for petty grudges.
>from two thousand and fucking eight
Yes anon, do you really think the higher ups are going to think that deeply about it? To them, it was a flop/minor success, so not worth the effort for a port. Even if the port might do well, they won't approve since in their minds they forgot about it long ago. Also if Iizuka was the one who decides which games get ports, where's the Heroes steam port? He was the level designer for it back then, so surely now he'd want to port it right?
>heroes
Because then they'd probably have to pay the VAs from that game more than they'd probably be willing to, given the state of things.
Can't they just outsource it again or give it to some trainees? Even if it's a shit port then at least it can be modded into being playable.
It wasn't directed by Iizuka, and he's bitter at how much better the game has aged than his interpretation of the boost style with Colors and Generations.
>60-40 ratio of 2D to 3D.
Its closer to 65%. And by your logic, you shouldn't be referring to it as 3D then.
What do you mean by my logic? I never said a majority of the game was 3D or anything, I just said there's enough 3D there where I wouldn't call it exclusively a 2D game like some people tend to.
Sure here's another one from Sweet Mountain.
>posts a picture of a corridor where you don't even need to jump
I think you don't understand the term "platforming".
What? You have played the game to know that this is a timing bit where you have to alternate between the lower and higher plane in order to progress while avoiding the giant missile right?
Yes I've played it. You only have to jump once and that's in the section in your screenshot. Sonic can boost through that section fast enough to where the missile will only shoot once while you're in the lower level making it pointless. In that whole corridor you only have to jump once and that's why sonic color's level design is so dull.
In your review, you called it a 3D game, despite knowing full well at *least* half to more than half of it was 2D. Why would you lie to people like that? Anyway, your posts are getting annoying to read. Fuck off.
None of us do. We're the only ones that lose, and we have Iizuka to blame. He has this strange impulse to water any form of challenge or difficulty to the most retard-friendly levels of gameplay, and still doesn't understand how it counterproductive it is to evolving the franchise. The guy is just there for a check these days.
uh yeah because even if we go by your assessment that only 35% of it is 3D that's still far more than what would be required to consider it a 3D game.
The only way for it to not be 3D would be if you spent less than 15 minutes in a 3D space across the whole game, which is how games like 3 and CD operate with their 3D special stages.
You guys are so stupid it's unreal, you can't even follow your own logic.
>if we go by your assessment that only 35% of it is 3D that's still far more than what would be required to consider it a 3D game.
Not a chance. For it to be considered 3D game it would have to be 50% MINIMUM 3D (but really a lot more). How can you have a majority of a game be 2D then call it a 3D game? It's a game that has some 3D, not a 3D game overall. Even Unleashed, which has a lot more 3D in it's boost stages than Colors, markets itself as a mix of classic style 2D and 3D.
Anon wtf kind of world are you living in where this is accurate at all? From the point a game has 3D levels with a fully functional 3D control scheme it's a 3D game, even if that control scheme is then mostly used in 2D sections.
Again, I brought up Crash earlier, that's a 3D game with a roughly equal amount of 2D levels as Sonic Colors.
You can disagree with that criteria, but frankly I've gone past the point of caring lol, I think anyone who's sensible enough to not have Sonic doodoo brain can recognize the difference.
Plus even if we do agree that it is a 2D game, how does that impact its quality at all? People get so hung up on this as if the 2D gameplay is somehow bad or something when it isn't at all.
Woah... the game is easy if you know what to do and are skilled enough to pull it off? Damn, who could have thought...
I've already explained my reasoning here
Yes anon pressing the jump button once is easy even you can do it!
Clearly it's not pressing the jump button once at all considering you said it yourself you need to boost through it in order for the missile not to catch you - and if you look at the first screenshot of that section I posted there's a gap right at the start you need to sidestep or jump over.
Dunno... could it be that you're being disingenuous or something? Nah, that can't be it.
You can use the laser wisp to bypass the gap and missile at the same time requiring no jumps. The missile is slow and does not add any jumping challenges in fact in incentivizes you not to since it will only hit you if you jump. And the gap you're sperging about can just walk around it, you don't need to jump you said it yourself. You don't understand platforming if you think holding forward in a corridor and pressing A once counts as platforming.
Anon you keep adding these extra steps what happened to only needing to jump once? Now I also need to boost AND use a power up that I needed to have saved up from earlier in the level? But none of this counts right it's not platforming since you only jump once yep totally.
Anyway here's how speedruns handle that bit just so you know how full of shit you are.
?t=45
No you retard, you don't need to use the wisp, you don't need to boost, those are all just things that make the missile you love so much even more irrelevant than it already is. The only thing you need to is hold forward and jump once. And if you consider that 3D platforming then you're clearly retarded.
He didn't even fucking work on ANY boost games fucking retard. Colors is the same director that did Frontiers. Notice how that's the only one that got ported?
Kishitmoto is to blame, not Iizuka. FFS Iizuka recently got promoted and is now gone from Sonic Team completely.
Iizuka's only major screwup was making Shadow the Hedgehog.
Stop responding to the Colorsfag
Is it possible to play Unleashed stably on a Steam Deck?
>Is the only good boost formula game
It isn't. Boost is fundamentally garbage and gets by solely on spectacle. Which I guess I can understand 3D Sonic fans jizzing over Unleashed since its the only Sonic game since the 90s besides SA1 to have any kind of budget or production value.
>People say its shit because they got filtered by the fun, albiet, flawed beatemup sections
They're about as good as Ghost Rider for the PS2. You would understand this if you played any videogames outside of Sonic. Also they take up more than half the game. Imagine an RTS where over half the campaign is 4/10 beat em up sections because the devs say RTS maps are too hard and expensive to make, absolutely nobody would like it or defend it.
>no anon has posted it
FOR SHAME Ganker!!!
