any racing game more complicated than mario kart
I know there's some way to take a turn in Gran Turismo without just slowing to a crawl, but God help me if I can't figure out how
I really fricking suck at strategy games and fighting games, weirdly enough for the same reason I think. I suck at considering what my opponent might do and I suffer from choice paralysis.
Nice try OP but we're going to discuss the actual proposed topic instead of your dumb meme, also sage.
Funny, I would call myself decent at Necrodancer, but not typical rhythm games.
Maybe it's just passable rhythm combined with all the Diablo and Diablo-likes I played growing up.
Turn based anything
None of them have any real depth and no pressure to actually make quick decisions so you can always just find the best with no stress. It's absurdly boring and always puts me to sleep.
I used to play some back when I was younger, but nowadays I can't stand turn based combat and I wish japanese companies would stop shitting out one jrpg after the other with it
Just to confirm, aphantasia is another fake """medical condition""" that zoomie Redditors created so they can add it to their already-long list of other illnesses they've self-diagnosed themselves with, right? Remember when people were bullied and shamed for having mental problems instead of wearing them like a badge of honor? Let's go back to that. Suicide numbers have increased since people started flaunting their shit, so maybe it does have an adverse affect.
no its real. ive spent years trying to determine if it is actually describing a real condition or just people getting tripped up because they interpret the explanation differently. Its hard to compare your personal sensory experience to someone elses after all. But i can conclude it exists.

It's like asking blind people what colors are. You are psychologically incapable of comprehending it
i finally got it figured out talking to my friend. we are both into psychology and philosophy and the occult and so have the language and concepts to convey this kind of thing. I have aphantasia and he doesnt.
When i 'imagine' something im still thinking about it visually, i can consider or inspect/rotate it in my head as my attention shifts around the thing exactly as if im looking at it. Its not like a meme i read once which explains it as just 'knowing a list of properties'. Its just blackness, but instead of 'seeing nothing' its more like 'looking at an invisible thing'. Im still looking at it mentally, its just not triggering the visual aspect of it like you would have in a dream. All my dreams have life like vividness by the way. His dont, even though hes so good at visualization he doesn't even have to close his eyes and can 'hallucinate' things. Which sounds pretty handy to me.
Hey, that is some nice perspective.
Most of those aligning to the meme hasn't been linked to aphantasia, you might even not have it even though you can't visualize things in your brain. It's a real condition but inability to properly imagine isn't always related to having apantasia
Minecraft, or just any sandbox game in general
the reason i was able to stomach terraria was because it's a bossrush disguised as a sandbox
fighting games also
>Minecraft, or just any sandbox game in general
This, but also including stuff like Rimworld, Kenshi or even BotW and Civ/HoI etc. I don't know how to make my own fun.
turn based games. just not enough action for me to keep me interested most of the time unless it's classic fallouts + tactics (which i played in real time thrice) or div OS games
Have you tried Divinity 2 with a friend? That's the only real way I've gotten invested into a turn based/non-action CRPG. Only controlling one character, and having someone to bounce stupid ideas off, really helps I think. I think the varied interactions you have helps too.
The same thing applies for World in Conflict, since multiplayer stuck you on a team, each player controlling separate parts of your side.
fair enough anon. the game has to be something special for me to play it if it's turn based. i hate nothing more than >20% chance to hit >1% chance to stun
like hell i'm ever going to bother have high hopes with those odds lmao. then there was those xcom games where 95% chance to hit misses 3 times in a row
>then there was those xcom games where 95% chance to hit misses 3 times in a row
playing classic fallouts that only happened once! and i played them a lot
i'm not sure because i don't remember how it was when i pictured things in my head. just like i don't remember how a mosquito bite looks. i'm not sure i ever bothered picturing things in my head to begin with much so it's hard to tell
RTS games are like that for me
I just had to force myself through some of the wall missions in Tooth and Tail and it's considered brain dead easy from what I've seen
Fighting games I guess. I don't have the drive to practice and lab out a character.
Also grand strategy filters me hard. Watching footage of Terra Invicta is like looking through a wall of fog with all the shit going on and people claim it's somehow a 4x.
for me its roguelikes/lites. every time i see a new flavor of the month roguelike/lite i think "wow that looks cool", want to play it, do so for a couple hours and then ultimately drop it shortly in because i cant get past the earlier stages. its usually this need to clear the first couple stages as good as possible which leads to me starting over and over again because i made a slight mistake. when i played enter the gungeon on switch i got to stage 5 once, hardly got to stage 4 and would usually die well before stage three. i would always try to beat stage one with no damage taken and only using the starter weapon. i would try to get to the oubliette and do the same there. then on stage 2 you have to carry that shield you got in the oubliette to a certaib room without taking damage again. so thats three stages id force myself to clear with no damage. and i think i pulled it off once. when i later played it on pc again it was way easier because of mouse aiming but this mentality to always try and get the perfect start instead of playing the cards that ive been dealt is what quickly sucks the fun out of any rougelike/lite for me. and if the game is so easy that i can beat a run after just a couple attempts i will usually not bother playing again. risk of rain comes to mind, the game broke open completely on just my second run where i was completely invincible and killed anything with a single attack.
This is me but i find it enjoyable this way. My dad read to me all the time growing up and its far more pleasant to be able to add the inflection and personality to words. If i try hard to read faster i can skip all that but it doesn't seem as deep an experience.

DUDE THE OP PIC IS LITERALLY ME HOLY SHIT
>NOOOO YOU CAN'T JUST DISCUSS VIDEO GAMES YOU HAVE TO RESPOND TO THE OFF-TOPIC PIC STOOOOOOOP
I really fricking suck at strategy games and fighting games, weirdly enough for the same reason I think. I suck at considering what my opponent might do and I suffer from choice paralysis.

I'm not that good at RTS games, but I like simpler stuff like AoE
unfortunate
I'm fine with most rhythm games but I don't know how the frick anyone plays Necrodancer
Funny, I would call myself decent at Necrodancer, but not typical rhythm games.

the trick to rhythm games is to time off of the music and not the on screen indicators which always seem off to me
A good game will let you adjust visual and audio delay separately. If it doesn't let you do that it's a terrible rhythm game.
The onscreen indicator is just there to give you the rhythm at a glance. The trick is to start thinking in that rhythm.
i'm good at every genre of game but master of none
I suck at SPORTS games but I think it's because I have no interest in sports.

Frick off op
tl;dr

I can definitely visualize shit in my head but it's not the same as if I were to use my eyes to look at something
You don't have this meme disorder.
yeah I know. the visualization is particularly vivid if I'm still half-asleep after waking up.
If you literally "see" something you imagine, you are hallucinating.
It's like asking blind people what colors are. You are psychologically incapable of comprehending it

This makes more sense. If there's nothing, I don't know how they're supposed to remember things at all that aren't in front of them.
I don't know how to explain it, but instead of remembering a thing in question through imagery, it's more like a feeling.

>just imagine something that inst there bro. that will be $19,99
nah thats just turn based games being lazily designed

I might have aphantasia nowadays. but i'm not sure

i'm not sure because i don't remember how it was when i pictured things in my head. just like i don't remember how a mosquito bite looks. i'm not sure i ever bothered picturing things in my head to begin with much so it's hard to tell
all 3d from first person makes me sick in about 5 minutes. And no, it's not a fps issue.60+ still do nothing.
That sounds like it could be epilepsy, if not just extreme motion sickness. That sucks though, damn.
>t. jap
RTS games are like that for me

SOULLESS
Playing D&D with irl friends in my 30s fixed this for me. Now I have a robust theater of the mind. Picturing a rainbow made of apples right now.
I can't really into city builders
Not anymore. It used to be fighting games and point-and-click adventures, but I tried getting into them recently and had a pretty good time.
I always see people vent....
Where are you? I don't think I have it that bad, it's like 3 or so.
5... i can still hear
>DING DING DING DING DING DING DING. DINGDINGDING
Are they playing a little bit of dota?
The Final Fantasy series bore the frick out of me.
Fighting games I guess. I don't have the drive to practice and lab out a character.

Platformers. I hate them.
can't do fps, but i can do tps for some reason
i've also somehow lost the ability and desire to play RTS, despite me being pretty good at it when WC3 was current
>read a book
>it's actually the voice in my head reading it and I'm listening
>need weeks to finish a book
This is me but i find it enjoyable this way. My dad read to me all the time growing up and its far more pleasant to be able to add the inflection and personality to words. If i try hard to read faster i can skip all that but it doesn't seem as deep an experience.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN
>I close my eyes and suddenly it's dark! I can't see the rainbow on my smartphone screen! omg I am soooo unique
