I got bored at the end of the deadlands world and haven't returned to finish it yet, but it's alright.
Was the Soul Arbiter's Maze that did me in. I know it's optional content, but it just sort of concentrated all the things I didn't like about the game and turned me off it.
Darksiders is very fun
Darksiders II is very fun
Darksiders Genesis is fun
Are they the best games? No. But they aren't trying to be. They're clever mashups of better games, that come together as something thoroughly entertaining on their own.
Artstyle is great. The story is also pretty good, but it is told non-sequentially and is confusing as all hell unless you take some effort, but you really only need to understand the broad strokes to have fun with it.
Darksiders III falters only because they tried to blend Souls-like mechanics into the mix. The only problem is that it slows the game WAY frick down, which doesn't mesh with the power fantasy god-of-war-type combat the series was built on. Devs lost touch with the soul of the series a bit -- which is clear from Fury's redesign -- but they seem to have come back to center with Genesis, so there's still hope that the series isn't totally dead and we get another gem like Darksiders II.
They won't blow your mind, but you won't regret time spend on any of them.

DS2 kinda did for me. At least when it comes to the art direction and scenery. Traveling the Kingdom of the Dead and looking at the sheer size of the place with the giant bones potruding from everywhere, the two undead Leviathans fighting each other right before you enter the Gilded Arena, or even the Guardian fight in the Forge Lands mixed with the wonderful soundtrack from Jesper Kyd. The general architecture of the different locations is also quite striking. Joe Mad did say that one of their biggest inspirations for the locale in DS2 was Lord of the Rings after all.
One could argue that moments like that have been done better in many other games, and I wouldn't necessarily disagree, but there's no denying that Vigil went all out with Darksiders 2, and it ended up being a pretty good Swan Song for the studio. It's a shame they had to be shut down, since its clear that the dudes over there were passionate about what they were doing. Just watching the documentary of the making of these games made me love them even more. They may not be the best, but they have soul.
Darksiders 2 is a good game but the loot system can get a little boring and the middle region drags on WAY too long. The combat and dungeons are very good though, and the story/music/VA are solid. I also like the art style a lot.

Woooooow so fricking hard amirite?
Best than any zelda that came out after twilight princess.
much better in fact.
Death is really cool.
Yeah but I never beat it cause it's like 40+ hours long
First game is good too, puzzles at the end get pretty crazy
I played like 10 hours on release and I really liked it. I dropped it because my computer couldn't handle it back then and never downloaded it again.
So yea I recommend it. I liked how it rewarded exploration and fighting bosses that were too strong for your level.
very long game, it kinda gets repetitiv and i played the game twice and dropped it twice at the same point, not kidding.
I think i gave it another try and finished it.
what i hated about this game was that there aren't enough abbilities imo.
But the game has soul tho, just give it a try.

The lootshit aspect ruins it
The loot shit is the worst part
It’s alright, but the first fame is better.
Yes, it's great. Better than the first one.
It's a masterpiece, and the first game can't hold a candle to it.
It's THE good game in the entire franchise.
It's THE only good game in existence.
