if I were a dev releasing a game on consoles right now you'd have to pay me a shitload of money to not just tweak the settings a bit and put out a ps4 version alongside the PS5 one and quadruple my potential audience.

Consoles are definitely a meme. I don't know how a non-portable console can continue to exist after 1 more generation. Graphics, resolution, and frame rate are already better than they reasonably need to be. Games already cost way too much to make as it is. Are they really going to try to make consoles run games at 8k? fricking moronic, there is no point. The only way to justify a new console is meme tracing and who cares.

They're not PS5 games anon, they're PS4 games that are just being ported to PS5 with 20% faster loading times.
The (western) industry is starting to realise that trying to turn games into movies is stupid because 1) the games are shit and 2) they're too fricking expensive to produce and 3) they take too long.
Meanwhile, Nintendo are happily just chugging along doing their own thing.
