It's good. It is one of those puzzle games with a shitton of secrets to discover and no one really knows how deep that rabbit hole goes yet so it's best to play now

It's decent, maybe even great depending on your tastes. The surface level game works well has some decent design and exploration and accessibility. Weather or not you like the true ending and post game stuff will depend on your tolerance for the games shortcomings. There are 64 collectables hidden across the map and you need to find every one. The majority are 'did you notice this slight different wall here's. Then beyond that are more secrets that are another layer of autism. Some ended up being clever and interesting. Others tedious.

This is probably a chunk of it. I feel like it's a community game. Even stage 2 feels like it wasn't supposed to be tackled on it's own.

I think I would enjoy this game more if it was not published by dunkey. it hits spotlight on the game and sets high expectations, everyone is saying it's good, but this game would hit different if you heard somewhere that this game is good, you try it without expecting much but it's deep and interesting.
the game is alright, it's puzzle metroidvania

Games that require anything external thats not a manual are dogshit
I shouldnt need to look outside of my fricking game to 100% it.

Neither of these games are comparable to this in the slightest. The fact that this connection even arose in your head means that you're a moron who compares games by tangent factors instead of judging thme by gameplay.

5 or 6 hours of gameplay on a blind first playthrough isn't worth $25 no matter how good it is, you might enjoy getting fricked in the ass for that price but I don't. Let's be clear, I didn't say I would never play that game, but I want to pay a more reasonable price for it.

Damn, if only games were sometimes less than full price...
      like some kind of discount...
a sale, even, perhaps in summer.
      >summer sale come
      >"waaah waaah it's only 10% off"
So wait longer. If you have nothing else to play in the meantime, then you obviously don't like indie games anyway. There are a fricking billion of them and most of them have been out for long enough that you can get then for almost nothing.
I'll probably play Animal Well in a few years when it's included in a 3-for-$5 Fanatical bundle.
      >but it won't be flavor of the month anymore!!
Yes. Then I can judge the game on its own merits and not be biased by other people's hype. If it's not good in a few years then it was never really good.

I had similar feelings about it as I had about Environmental Station Alpha: The core metroidvania is well made, but the endgame secret hunting just doesn't feel very satisfying. Mostly it's the fact that it doesn't really serve any sort of clear purpose or have any context, it's just there so they can say that the game has cryptic secrets.

      >it's just there so they can say that the game has cryptic secrets.
it's a thing Hempuli really likes doing in his games, it's the same in Noita. he also worked on Baba is you but I don't know if the endgame is riddled with obtuse secrets in that game

It was done a lot better in Baba Is You and Noita because in those games it's more based around figuring out how to use the core mechanics in unintuitive ways. Also, in Noita the cryptic secrets (or the somewhat-less cryptic secrets, at least) often significantly expand or transform the way you interact with the game world, and are thematically relevant to boot.
