F1 and F2 are great. I made it halfway through F3 before dropping it; apparently it was supposed to be concluded with F.E.4.R but due to the shitty sales and reviews of F3 they just stopped caring about it altogether

Look, I played FEAR 2 like 8 years ago and I was drunk for most of it, I do not remember it being anything other than goofy, but fun. I had a blast playing it and completely recommend it to everyone. The only early RE that took itself seriously was RE1/REMake, RE2 and RE3 were both campy as shit, even if that wasnt intentional, and CVX opened with that John Woo/Matrix horseshit which spread a bit to RE0.

The SMG and assault rifle are better and sound better and can hit the side of a barn and the movement speed is increased.

First game is good. Second game is a huge step down in every regard. Third game has better gameplay than the second game but a stupid story. Apparently FEAR 3 was a completely unrelated sci-fi horror game that was converted midway through development into a FEAR sequel.
1 is a masterpiece.
2 is shit and boring
3 is shit and agonizing.
FEAR 3 is actually better than 2, at lesst it stops pretending to be FEAR and has coop, good weapons and lets you drive 2 types of mech.

co-op with a friend is the only reason I finished it, because like crabs in a bucket we both had to make the other suffer all the way to the end, which was sadly pretty cool for being wasted on such an awful game

Absolutely every gun in 2 is pitiful, save maybe the sniper and the lasgun. Both shotties are a travesty. 3's arsenal is mean and punchy all around.

The sniper is still complete ass compared to the Particle Rifle.
And the fact that they removed the Repeating Cannon and the minigun is a sin in of ittself.
1 is a phenomenal must play.
2 is an absolute trash carried only by (now outdated) spectacle and ghost rape.
3 is a very solid game with retarded plot. Best mix of melee, super powers, explosives and shooting in the series, supported by a challenge system that rewards varied, skilled and spectacular play. Co-op is extra fun because of asymmetric powers and limitations.
