    Not even really. AlbW is just a lame Alttp remake. I prefer spritework for a top-down game (especially compared to 3DS graphics), and I wasn't a fan of the open item shop gimmick or turning into painting.

    The real reason is the Switch acts as both a normal console and a handheld console. So there's no reason to spend all that money making handheld titles.
    And they probably were experimenting with Link's Awakening in 2019. But since the handheld titles were such high quality and full games and not just small versions of franchises, literally what can they do? It can't be a full title like Metroid Dread.

    3d Zelda controls always suck for some reason and are most susceptible to whatever bullshit console mechanic they want to shill. OOT is the best 3d zelda still b/c of its simplicity, and it still had some weird mechanics, due to age though so I can forgive it.
    2d zelda games are consistent and simple, im not fighting through menus, crafting, camera or bs motion controls.

      The existence of very good indie 2d zeldalikes proves there's more to be milked here, if Nintendo is willing to mix things up in a constructive way. Prodigal, Lenna's inception, even blossom tales, all prove that very little in the way of innovation breathes a lot of new life into the genre. Add the level of polish a proper Zelda game comes with and it's an obvious winner

    I'm legit surprised I actually completed the streetpass challenges before everyone stop bringing their 3DS' in public. Doing it in hero mode would be nigh impossible. And I could never find those Dark Links (or shadow links) that are in the game to challenge you. the old man in kakariko village is implied to be ALttP Link. If nintendo ever does a remaster or collection, expect WW, TP, ALBW, FSA, ST, and PH.

      TotK is my favorite because it feels like the culmination of Fujibayashi's core design philosophy ever since the Oracles, which has always been to integrate the central mechanics and interactions into *everything* the player does from moment to moment so that they're always engaged, whether they're in a dungeon or not. In a series about exploration, puzzles and combat, content density is more important than dungeons. Most 3D Zelda games fail spectacularly at this, too often having bad overworlds with fluffy setpieces between dungeons or shallow mandatory minigames that are divorced from the core gameplay. Fuji does away with that bullshit entirely to focus on the fundamental pillars of Zelda. That's not to say he always succeeds – SS was a failed experiment and BotW is a little too sparse for its own good, but TotK is the logical endpoint of his design and perhaps the first truly successful translation of 2D style Zelda gameplay into 3D.

    I wish we got a 3D Zelda with ALBW's formula, dungeons but you can choose the order you wish to conquer them in before the next phase of the game starts and gives you more dungeons you can also conquer in any order.

      That'd be the goal, or hell, just the second half of ALBW as a whole 3D game. Like 8-10 dungeons hidden across a big world. That's what I wanted from BOTW and TOTK. TOTK came close, but we're still not quite there yet
