How come this game doesntbug itself to shit every 5 minutes like bethesda games? One would think all those physics would cause it to break apart but its almost seamless. Ofc you can force some glitches but its nothing you can accidentally find

The amount of playtesting Nintendo dud must have been fricking insane. Any other studio would have spent 6 months pulling their hair out just trying to make to most basic of TotK's interactions work without the game exploding.

      Anonymous

They delayed the game by a year just for debugging and extensive playtesting. Also, the "Blood Moons" in the Switch era Zelda games act to remove a lot of game bloat i.e why enemies respawn, the overworld resets to normal, etc. otherwise it would run into the stereotypical Bethesda problem of shitting itself the longer the game runs.

It takes talent, coding proficiency and dedication to a vision.

TotK might be the best adventure game ever made. I certainly can't see any other developer ever attempting anything like it. And even if they did, it would probably be a completely fricking broken mess.

Why do journalists and gamers write "PlayStation" as though "PlayStation" is a sentient entity?

It makes sense in the case of Nintendo because Nintendo is the name of the business.

A PlayStation is an electrical box. It cannot make games because it's not a conscious entity or a business. Sony, on the other hand, is a business and could make games... although Sony has no real history in games development, so any games tend to be developed by studios that have been bought by Sony.

        >Why do journalists and gamers write "PlayStation" as though "PlayStation" is a sentient entity?

It's a brand. The same as Xbox.

Same applies to brands. Brands don't make anything. Businesses and people make things.

People who talk about "PlayStation" making games tend to be the same morons who say "they're making a sequel" or "they're making a new game"... they can't possibly imagine how media is made, so they just say "they", a vague non-descript entity.

Nah, because like I said, PlayStations and XBoxes are just mechanical devices. They don't have money.

As for Sony and Microsoft, funding game development is just souless and corporate. Nintendo's studios were developed organically from the early days of game development.

Why is there never a ToTK thread discussing the actual game.

    It's always either
    >Why's this game shit
    >Why's this game the GOAT
    Never
    >What's your favorite dungeon
    >What's your favorite boss
    >What's the lore about this
    >What do we hope from the DLC
    >What's the coolest vehicle/contraption you made

This is the only fanbase on Ganker I see do this. New Vegasgays argue NCR/Legion homosexualry, TESgays argue Morrowind vs whatever or Legion vs Stormcloak, Soulsgays argue about which game is best in the series or obscure lore homosexualry. Baldur's Gate 3gays are waifu arguing or talking about Durge choices/builds.

It's literally only Zeldagays that I never see discussing the actual game. Probably why the general no longer exists, seems there's literally nothing to discuss.

I mean, I see around 2 Elden Ring threads for example discussing the lore implications of the DLC. The Elden Ring general on /vg/ is literally just talking about builds and discussing lore too for the most part.

I would say that's objectively better than no general on /vg/ and this being the only thread up on Ganker "How did Nintendo do it".

      >there's literally nothing to discuss.

TotK is so good it has ruined all other games for me.

I find myself wanting to explore other open world ganes but being hit with invisible walls, linearity and gated progression.

I find myself wandering off the beaten path and finding nothing there to discover.

I find myself peering into bottomless chasms feeling disappointed that I can't dive down there and explore.

I find myself dealing with baby tier combat scenarios and wondering why I can't use all my inventory to create new scenario-specific items and weapons.

I find myself wishing I could create my own solutions to puzzles and challenges using my own wits and resources.

I find myself disappointed that the game's interconnected systems don't turn every event into a unique set-piece, experienced by me alone.

I find myself limited by the sheer inactive sterilisation of the world around me.

Nintendo have just raised the bar too damn high and now I can't enjoy anything else. Video games have peaked with TotK.

      Discuss.

        >I find myself wanting to explore other open world ganes but being hit with invisible walls, linearity and gated progression.
Funny, that describes TOTK's tutorial down to the letter. And yet you defend it as masterfully crafted.

        >I find myself wandering off the beaten path and finding nothing there to discover.
Don't you chastise other games for needing to jingle fancy keys infront of the player? But now everything has to give you a reward?

        >I find myself dealing with baby tier combat scenarios and wondering why I can't use all my inventory to create new scenario-specific items and weapons.
Except TOTK is nothing but baby tier combat scenarios, since you have to avoid using 90% of your entire roster of game mechanics, just so enemies don't die pathetically.

        >I find myself wishing I could create my own solutions to puzzles
Then how do you solve the puzzle of skipping the intro or tutorial? How do you bypass the quests involving the divine beasts or TOTK dungeons? Why do they force heavy linearity down your throat?

        >I find myself disappointed that the game's interconnected systems don't turn every event into a unique set-piece,
And yet you can't even kill NPCs, they magically have plot armor for no reason.

        >I find myself limited by the sheer inactive sterilisation of the world around me.
You can't even dig up the ground or go into the depths without doing it in an "approved" spot.

        >Nintendo have just raised the bar too damn high
lol there are games that surpassed it already, and they're so good that you know which ones I'm talking about. They don't need to be named.

      >favorite dungeon
I dropped the game after beating the Wind Temple. I will say that, while I was disappointed by the dungeon itself, the journey up to it was actually quite good.
      >favorite boss
      Kohga.
      >lore
Too hard for Aonuma, and Fujibayashi only cares about replacing Zelda and Ganon with Hylia and Demise, so there's none.

Zeldagays discuss the game in every thread besides BotW/TotK threads because there's nothing to discuss about nu-Zelda.
      >What's your favorite dungeons
It has no dungeons. The Gerudo one is the closest but it has no actual dungeons, just "get the 5 keys" 20 minute extended shrine bullshit. Everybody already knows this, so there's no point in asking the question.
      >What's your favorite boss
Again there's nothing to discuss. There's only 5 bosses and everyone already knows the two good ones. Or I should say the singular good aspects of those two bosses: diving through Colgera, getting Flurry Rushed by Ganondorf. That's it. Dragondorf is a shitty anime setpiece and basically a victory lap. A glorified cutscene. The other temple bosses are unmemorable. The overworld map minibosses are copy-pasted 2000 times and not fun at all.
There are no opinions here, it's all a consensus. Nobody could think the TotK Water Temple is good. Nobody could think the Octorok at the end of it is a good boss. We already know they fricking suck. There's nothing to discuss because this game is shit. All you have are people who know the game is shit and people who have to pretend it's good because TotK master race is their whole personality. All they can do is spam the same images over and over which aren't even screenshots of the game, just articles about it.

There was this discussion, but it died down quickly because Zelda TOTK is super shallow. The discussion lasted mainly during the leak, it was two weeks of people really interested in the game exchanging information that didn't exist anywhere because everywhere was censoring everything. It was fun to explore the game without having much information other than the experience of other players in the threads, this kind of thing doesn't exist anymore unless you're in some very obscure game.
Anyway, these threads here are artificial. The same moron makes several threads a day, one hour with a positive tone, another with a negative tone. I have no idea why, it must be some weird social experiment.
