If they don't show A LOT more enemies and typical Zelda enemies like spiders and redeads soon, I will just pirate it

Closer to 5% for me. Plateau was great, but it was all downhill from there.

i'm sure that's why the game was massively popular, critically acclaimed, and had all other developers kneel

A lot of shit games have all this. Means nothing. Think for yourself instead of letting other people think for you.

How can this be the case when they both have the same world. If you remember 1 you will automatically remember 2 and vice versa, l o l

Because BOTW revolves around exploring, and you've already explored this world.

It at least rearranged them in an interesting way, which TOTK doesn't seem to be doing

How MM reused assets looks radically different from how TotK looks to be reusing assets. MM looks and plays like a whole new game, not to mention MM did it because Miyamoto gave them a year to make it, whereas TotK will take 6 years for what looks like no more than the DLC they said they cut.

BOTW is fun to an extent, but it's massive empty world feels very tedious to explore, especially when the rewards for exploring are just weapons that are probably worse than what I already have or fuckin korok seeds. The story isn't all that interesting, the voice acting in most cutscenes isn't spectacular (overall sound mixing is fantastic, but the direction they gave to the voice actors make the voices irritating in a lot of cases), and the lack of shit to do really gimps the game. People shit talk linear gameplay, but at least when they put me on rails they are able to tell me a story that doesn't suck.

I used to agree with you but I realized BoTW isn’t about exploring for the sake of good rewards, it’s about exploring because that’s what you feel like doing.

It’s very much a game about intrinsic motivation whereas the majority of games focus on extrinsic motivation. It’s fine if it doesn’t appeal to you, but it’s not a shortcoming of the game

        >It’s fine if it doesn’t appeal to you, but it’s not a shortcoming of the game
Yeah, fair enough. I just don't see the point in exploring when there is little to gain from it, either from rewards or from interesting locations. The world is a lot of open plains and trees with little else to find. Idk, I get it's a taste thing, but I could play minecraft if I wanted to explore uninteresting landscapes for hours with nothing gained from it.

there are tons of interesting locations and fun gameplay to find by exploring.

As for "gaining stuff", your mind is rotten from endless games making you feel better about playing by giving you progress bars and numbers. The same gameplay segment is not more or less fun depending on what the game gives you at the end, it's the exact same.

            >it's the exact same
Running through empty fields for the same dozen korok puzzles and largely identical shrines certainly all felt exactly the same.

            >your mind is rotten from endless games making you feel better about playing by giving you progress bars and numbers
I wasn't necessarily talking about gaining a physical item or a number to add to my pile of numbers. I'm talking about gaining an experience that I feel is worth experiencing. I personally don't find the world of BOTW interesting enough to warrant the experience of just exploring it. There are so many games with worlds that are more interesting to just explore. I gain an experience from those games that I feel is worth my time.

It has nothing to do with actually getting something at the end of my journey.

Also, it's a video game. It's fully acceptable to want to have gained something more than an experience from your time playing it. When I watch a movie or read a book I don't feel the experience was lacking because I didn't gain anything. In a video game I'd like to have attained something I consider valuable, either the fun of playing, an item or in game treasure, a satisfying story, or just satisfaction of from having completed something. There is no point to any action in life if you're not "gaining" something from it. Even the most monotonous or leisurely activity has something to gain from it. If you're walking around doing pointless shit you probably won't continue to do that for very long.

The gameplay in this regard, the exact same regardless, I feel is not strong enough to carry the lack of experience gained from wandering around the empty open world of BOTW.

I think what I am personally worried about/interested in is how sky gameplay will affect that natural flow state. With BOTW I would just pick a place on the map and head towards it on foot and see what I could find/do along the way, and there was almost always some organic way to do it. I guess time will tell if that still holds

      >People shit talk linear gameplay, but at least when they put me on rails they are able to tell me a story that doesn't suck.
It's not just story, devs are able to cater the entire experience on a moment by moment basis for the player. You can't have that with nothing but freedom open worlds because the devs have no clue what the player will do or where they'll be at any given time. It's why the end up simply copy pasting shit out the ass.
