Planned leaks are a thing now, it attempts to move fandoms to organically spread the message all over the internet before any actual advertising is out into motion.
wow thanks shirlock
>Psychological horror and Southern Gothic collide in this retelling of survival-horror classic Alone in the Dark . In the skin of Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood, explore the various environments, fight monsters, solve puzzles and discover the terrible truth about the mansion of Derceto... In the deep south of the United States during the years 1920, Emily Hartwood's uncle disappeared. Accompanied by the private detective Edward Carnby, she goes looking for him in the manor of Derceto, a mental asylum where... something is lurking. You will encounter strange occupants, nightmarish kingdoms, dangerous monsters, and uncover an evil conspiracy. At the crossroads between reality, mystery and madness, the adventure that awaits you risks undermining your certainties. Who are you going to trust, what are you going to believe, and what are you going to do next?
> Explore Derceto's mansion in this revamp of Alone in the Dark, a true love letter to the 90s horror classic.
> Return to the roots of psychological horror and experience an atmospheric adventure on par with the game that founded the genre.
> Immerse yourself in a world full of goosebumps-tingling sounds against a backdrop of doom jazz that's as memorable as it is hypnotic.
> Feel the adrenaline as you desperately try to survive a world where reality begins to crumble, evil lurks in every shadow and ammo is scarce.
> Experience this nightmare from the perspective of Emily Hartwood or Edward Carnby and unearth the dark secrets of a Gothic mansion.
>Go beyond the imaginable through a complex psychological story written by cult screenwriter Mikael Hedberg, author of SOMA and Amnesia.
why does this sound like a nintendo direct description of a game
What is 'doom jazz' supposed to sound like?
Kenny G doing a cover of Master of Puppets?
look up "Bohren & der Club of Gore"
Bohren und der Club of Gore is a great doomjazz pick, excellent for driving down empty roads late at night. But I would be remiss if I did not refer you to the Mt. Fuji Doomjazz Corporation (a side project of the more famous Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble): https://youtu.be/Mq1nULtY2VE
>written by cult screenwriter Mikael Hedberg, author of SOMA and Amnesia
Alright I'll give it a chance
I've ignored Amnesia cause I always just viewed it as "le scary streamer yelling a lot game" so I don't know if this is a good thing or not. Soma looks cool though even if I haven't played it
Both games have really interesting premises and endings
SOMA has a lot more dialogue if you want that
Amnesia is a bit more than that and the mods for amnesia are insanely well made
you should give it a try
>I've ignored Amnesia cause I always just viewed it as "le scary streamer yelling a lot game"
Amnesia is not that at all. It's a really well crafted and sophisticated horror adventure. It only got popular with those youtubers because of crappy fanmade maps.
lmao soma was garbage
>filtered
The AEW game trailer got leaked last week too. THQ really getting sloppy
>The AEW game trailer
?
I hate brown so much it's unreal
TAA vaseline filter with fog everywhere, how inspired
Said man who never created anything in his life
I literally fricking thought this was REmake 2 in the thumbnail lmao holy shit
>not being well lit like the OG
lame tbh
I like returning to the past but I wish they went further back so the protag had a better drip.
The return of the Piss Filter
YES
Everyone shit on the piss filter until the director's cut came out and looked worse without it
And then MD looked good without it
Fair point
>shit on the piss
Problem of the art aesthetic being crafted around the piss filter, rather than it simply being a post-process filter.
There was nothing wrong with neither this nor the bald space marine main characters people keep ragging on about these days. It's been a coordinated historical revision by leftists and trannies, because those games were the last time white men were allowed to be heroes. People loved brown shooters, this whole pretense that they didn't is ridiculous.
yeah
>Killzone 2 became popular for its grey drab war art style
>gays complained
>next two games completely ruined the art style to please them
Killzone 2 is still regarded as the best one.
It's a real shame that those games are regarded so badly these days. I kinda hope some day people will recognize that they were the last good games before the Blackrock shit really went into effect, but considering how society is shaping up to be, I'm not crossing my fingers.
Because theyre nothing burgers.
SOUL
You can instantly tell that this is UE4. God I fricking despise UE.
enemy looks generic also the cover looks like im playing a 90s adventure point n click game
is this a sequel to Murdered Soul Suspect?
I always see this on sale for like $2 is it really that bad?
Its actually good but underrated so the sale is a thing.
its not that bad of a game, its more to old school adventure/detective game, the story is not that bad. for $2 its worth your time
Most of the game is searching for collectables, but it’s not long and has a few neat ideas. Kinda felt like they didn’t get the budget they needed to fully realize their vision.
Definitely play it anon. Easy 100% as well. You get to possess cats!
Will the coat inventory return?!
The drug dealer/terrorist jacket will make a return if this does well.
should't he be ginger with and have a mustache
why so much ginger hate on games, movies and comics
im glad its back anyway
that was such a good inventory a shame for the rest of the game
There's only 1 good alone in the dark game and it's the first. 2 is ridiculous and 3 is mediocre. The new nightmare was alright but pretty generic and the reboot was truly awful
is this the game where you had to manually blink?
No, little zoomer.
AitD is the OG Resident evil from 1992.
And now they're de-making it.
I wish they had gone the REmake 1 route as opposed to the DEmake 2 and 3 route
Go play indie games if you want fixed cameras and tank controls
Over the shoulder shooters aren't scary. Why does everything need to be gears of war?
I disagree being hunted by Mr X in RE2make is scarier than anything in the classic games
Mr X is nerfed hard in DEmake 2, he's basically a joke.
Having him be a bullet sponge that only spawns at scripted points was better because...?
how was he nerfed?
>Mr X
oh that guy from the cutscenes? yeah he wasn't bad at all
>the master race needs to mod out the only challenging part of the game
Embarrassing
>Mr X
>challenging
So, running from room to room is a challenge? Demake fans are brainless.
theres plenty of firstperson horror but you hate them too right? lol
They're using the run and hide in the closet until the monster stops chasing you style of horror game. So yes I do hate them
Remake 2 is way better at being creepy than the PS1 games, which are more quaint and charming.
Wait, THQ bought the rights to Alone in the Dark from Atari?
Atari is a sinking ship bought by China in order to make any money out of nostalgia, like Tokens and a Hotel for whatever reason, anything else they owned can be just sold away.
Explains why it's all on the THQ sale. Got the series for under $3.
Gun better be fricking useless in this game or it isn't AitD. Shit was always about running away, outside of the original remake in sixth-gen which was its own kind of beautiful mess.
Is this the game I tried to play and starts in a room with a piano and in a few minutes something came in through the window and killed me because I didn't know what keys did what?
Yes. You're also supposed to read the manual.
>2022
>manuals
whats that?
i thought the intellectual rights to this IP were in some kind of legal limbo
>Step aside Resident Evil
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA yeah, this time for sure. LMAO!
>implying it's any hard for any lame horror franchise to leave RE in the dust now that crapcom has decided to flush the IP down the first person toilet
Clearly copying the trends of modern RE games but it might be cool if they have the budget and talent for it
So is there going to be actual puzzle solving, or is it going to be RE4 with a sepia filter?
>actual puzzle solving
You post this like REmake 2 didn't filter half of Ganker so hard in 2019 that people were sharing ways to cheat with mods in the game. Cheat sheets like this were posted in every thread. Archives of these threads exist.
Ashamed to admit it wasn't until my third time through the game that I recognized the inverted numbers on the lab passcode.
>anon thinks "how to solve a puzzle fast" its something new and not something for people who are replaying and trying to improve their timers
moron
Yeah bro because people absolutely were not discussing their first playthrough of the game or anything sure. Some of us were there dummy.
i didn't because i'm not a moronic crapcum fanboy buying demakes on hype
>spoling yourself by visiting a thread about a game you haven't finished
you are moronic
>projecting projecting projecting and asooming
not very bright are you?
Reading a note 10 rooms away about the code of a safe and bringing the mc guffin to do the thing in the other room are not puzzle solving
but they are. Sorry you didn't feel satisfied with the game.
He's right. 7 and 8 totally BTFO those games in the "puzzle" department.
Only Dead Space and RE7 did puzzles right
They are few, intelligently placed, serve to proceed though the game and use actual mechanics or test the ability to observe and use logic
Old RE puzzles are laughable and ridicolously time wasting
Most people nowadays are in agreement that REmake was a bad game, but unfortunately it took many years due to its sacred cow status on Ganker.
>pulling shit out of your ass
I can't remember a single puzzle from Dead Space
>1 puzzle is bad that means every classic RE game is bad
I hate zoomer fricktards so much
>>1 puzzle is bad
All of RE1 is bad puzzles that even a toddler could solve and whose only true annoyances is that you need a mc guffin from the other side of the mansion
Jesus Christ, REREmake when?
>asking for demakes
luckily never . have a nice day
REmake was already a demake, zoomer.
How so? Post examples.
Boomers be like: YO THIS GAMEPLAY IS FIRE *aggressive diaper sharting*
The original AitD puzzles were hardcore. All the puzzles combined literature analysis and intuition, not merely intuition like in the RE and SH games. Wrong decisions could end in a fail state or even death. I hope this one will be as hardcore.
neat
i tried to watch the uwe movie. Couldb't get past ten minutes so bad
Don't worry, that was the correct response to watching the movie.
So is it a remake of the original?
>another brown and blue OTS horror shooter
Yawn.
>more demakes
oh the misery everybody wanna be my ene-enemy
Mite b cool. I'll give it a chance.
>Titan Quest devs
Is this good or bad? I haven't got around to playing it. Survival horror is pretty far out their wheelhouse.
Can't be worse than illumination. Though, while it wasn't a good game, I kinda wish they gave Alone in the Dark 2008 another chance, if nothing else then for the soundtrack.
>it's a remake
can't wait for all the zoomers to yell OMFG RESIDENT EVIL RIPOFF HOW IS THIS LEGAL
it also won't have any of the spooky fun tone of the original, it'll be the same "FRICK SHIT FRICK SHIT FRICKING ZOMBIES? WHAT THE FRICK!" from the protag and you know it
>muh zoomers
>muh soulless
Get some new material
So?
>true horror is returning
I wish
Only AITD4 was good and while the 2008 reboot had a lot of great ideas, the gameplay was terrible
No mustache, no deal.
is this legit?
is Alone in the Dark really back?
i loved this series back when it first came out
sure it may have aged like milk for most but for me it aged like a fine cheese
Frick yeah, the original made me piss and shit in my pants.
have sex!
Are you offering?
get a room
Then we wouldnt be alone you dumb frick
But you would be in the Dark
I DONT HAVE YOUR STONE
AND FRICK YOU ANYWAY
No fricking way
YESSSS
I remember pissing and shitting my pants with the original.
>Alone in the Dark
>It's two people
Hopefully they don't set everything on fire this time.
what do you have against fire?
You're not that good at deduction, are you?
i'll be honest i've never played aotd
Okay, well the first time they tried rebooting it, a big mechanic they played around with was setting the environment on fire. So you were very rarely "in the dark."
casuals hate real darkness in games. They pee themselves.
wait, whole game was like that? i tried the demo and was a building on fire i assumed it was the start i bought aotd4 on release for Dreamcast but didn't got far too must be one of the very few games i bought as a teenager i didn't finish
You know you can find this stuff out with a simple search in youtube.
not giving you views b***h
Do you think I played any of the RE games, or Alone in the Dark? Don't be stupid. You don't need to play games to shitpost about them. If anything it's funnier if you don't, because you can just make up whatever you want, while the person arguing with you will start malding and seething and get into a tirade to prove you wrong, when you never cared about the argument to begin with.
men can't be women
it's an anal sex metaphor
This thread has got me hyped for playing Alone in the Dark later irl. Here's how you do it.
>Make sure you have the house to yourself
>Turn off all the lights
>Walk around with a lantern or candle
Its really scary guys, try it!
First game scarred me for life because it had so many major elements that were completely new (to me): 3D models, "realistic" prerendered environments, that thing in the bathtub (I hated the feeling of not understanding what a monster even is, and why it doesn't react to me), in-gameplay movie shit like pic related jumping through the window.
Not only the 3D graphics but the movie style camera angles were a new thing as well. Also you could get good sound from it without having a soundcard irc. That was unironically a great era for PC games.
Unfortunately I played it on the 3DO.
>it has coop
>it isnt dark
and refunded
Where did you see coop be mentioned?
Alone in Uwe Boll's dungeon
Are there any moronic amateur shekel collectors in his dungeon as well?
Hope it doesn't suck like nuRE games
Has Alone in the Dark EVER been as good as Resident Evil or Silent Hill?
No. Its only merit and claim to fame is being the first true 3d survival horror.
Not even close but it should still be respected for how much it innovated
Not really. I never quite understood why it was so popular to begin with. I know it's the first 3D horror game to ever exist and, therefore, the grandfather of most if not all horror games but the quality of the games themselves was always very lackluster.
It was better in many respects.
>best combat and level design: Resident Evil
>best puzzles, lore, and exploration: Alone in the Dark
>best atmosphere: Silent Hill
>Not fixed camera trash
Thank God
> Story by the guy who wrote SOMA & Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
You have my attention.
I just finished the gameboy color game. That one was great. why did this series shit the bed?
>why did this series shit the bed?
The original creator left the company after the first game.
heres the description translated on the page

Wait is this real? Has this actually been announced?
It will definitely be announced at the THQ Nordic showcase tonight
>no ps4 version
its going to sell so poorly they wont make another alone in the dark for another 13 years
It will do fine if it gets a PC release
the last one got a pc 360 and ps3 release and it still failed
Maybe it failed because it wasn't a good game
doesn't change that we didn't get another one for fricking 13 years and its going to happen again.
it is happening again
it is happening again
It will happen again if the game is shit again
If it's good positive word of mouth will help it sell
no one has a PS5 and if there's no pc release or multiplatform beyond 'next gen' its going to flop. People barely buy horror games anymore its a fraction of a fraction of the game market, they can pray that twitch streamers will buy the game and they can recuperate costs based on jumpscare youtube market. Video games are fricking dead.
Okay doomer
I'll buy the game on ps4 no ps4 im not buying.
Okay poorgay
deal wit it
Cope
Anon maybe it's time you bought a PS5 instead of complaining that everything will surely be terrible just because you can't play it.
All these horror franchises getting new games but Silent Hill is still dead in the water.
I'm fine with that given how terrible they've been since it left japan. I wish 1-4 got proper remasters though instead of the Hyjinx collection
I'm playing the first one with duckstation enhancements. Feels great.
Turns out non japs can make silent hill games so terrible they also kill the franchise for 13 years.
I am looking forward to the next death of silent hill tho.
that logo doesn't make any sense, round corners for a horror game? the frick is this, a web 3.0 app?
Looks like shit. The original is a goofy pulp adventure not le serious psychological horror.
>Resident Evil has been on a wining streak as of late (Ignoring the 3Remake and the shitty Netflix show
>Dead Space remake might honestly be pretty good if we are lucky
>The Callisto Protocol looks like the Dead Space 4 we never got
>a whole bunch of Dead Space like games are coming up
>Routine is back
>Scorn looks great
>Alan Wake 2 is a survival horror game
>RE4 Remake is going to be more horror focused
>Crappy walking sim horror games are being phased out as everyone realised they aren't really horror games let alone "games"
>A whole bunch of great indie horror games have come out as of late like Tormented Souls Alesia and The mortuary assistant
>More indie horror titles are on the way like Conscript and Signalis
>Now an Alone in the Dark remake
Horror bros...are we back?
Yes we're back and funnily enough, I think we have PT to thank. RE7 going first person and back to horror roots was a definite response to the success of PT and the clear dismay when Silent Hills was cancelled. Then RE7 was a hit and everything snowballed from there.
Thanks Kojima.
You're welcome
>creative dad saves the horror genera and revives a bunch of dead franchises with a single teaser
Kojima san…I kneel
Kinda wanna do a whole dead space playthrough.
What order tho???
Release order, always, for any series
I wouldn't play 3 unless you have a friend though
Dead Space 1 then Dead Space extraction of you like railed shooters then Dead Space 2 and don’t play 3 just watch the ending on YouTube it’s not worth playing
old man here
alone in the dark scared the pee out of us boys 100 years ago. scariest game I've ever played. The graphics were cutting edge too.
God damn, at least give it a subtitle
Alone in The Dark Again
Alone in The Dark Reborn
Alone in The Dark Remake
Alone in The Dark Resurrection
Alone in The Dark Return
Alone in The Dark Redux
Alone in The Dark Revengeance
Alone in the Dark: Homecoming might have worked.
All Alone In The Dark
All Alone In The Dark Co-op Edition
I remember playing the original way back in the day, made shit and piss my pants, my mom got super mad at me. Good times.
If I can't wallop monsters like I could in the first game then it'll be a disappointment.
>AITD remake getting announced on the 8yr anniversary of PT
Wew lad
Me in the red
I wish it was first person, exploring spooky mansions in first person is kino.
