Skate is for people who aren't good enough to play Tony Hawk. Boring series regardless. I look up skate 3 videos by "good players" and it's just people glitching the game to go fast and then jumping a gap and doing like one trick. Amazeballs. Not hating but it has nothing on Tony.
>all this cope in the comments
Pathetic homosexuals really don't want to let the excitement of another Skate game go, it's over you fricking children it's over.
>Everything sucks >DON'T get excited >IF YOU DON'T GET EXCITED, YOU CAN'T BE DISAPPOINTED >DISAVOW BEFORE YOU GET HURT AGAIN
you homosexuals are gay
I'd be excited if it was some free to play garbage. I never had a problem buying a skate game. I want to buy a skate game. I don't want to be saddled with all this extra bullshit. The best part of skate was unlocking cosmetics through challenges. Locking this shit behind paywalls is fricking ass. Live-service f2p titles ruin games.
the thing is just that for a game like this, there really is no way to know for sure it's going to be terrible if they really hold themselves to their commitments they stated in the video. if all the gameplay is there for anyone who wants to play, and the only microtransactions are for cosmetic horseshit, then there really shouldn't be any issue whatsoever.
my biggest concern with it is just having no good way to preserve it once EA determines that the ship has sailed and they can't make money off it anymore. aside from that, i really don't care about it being free to play. if it does well, that just means that it'll get more and more content over the span of years, which is more than any skate game ever got in terms of dlc or updates in it's lifetime.
I don't think most people care about cosmetics that much, the skate games are very mechanically satisfying and don't need a progression system. Glad people like you are funding it and saving me $70 though
it's perfectly okay to be skeptical, it's just fricking dumb to completely write something off when it's being given to you for fricking free. especially when the pre alpha shit's already leaked and shown that's literally just skate 3 with more content and moves and shit.
no it isn't, this is EA we're talking about you moronic child. why are you so bent out of shape about people who aren't you and you'll never meet jumping ship?
>why are you so bent out of shape
i seem to be the only one here who's NOT bent out of shape about it. i'm literally telling you that i'm not writing it off as being potentially good, and you're the one seething right this moment. i've also voiced my own concerns about it in this very thread because i know full well that EA is at the helm here. read the thread, homosexual
>literally just skate 3 with more content and moves and shit
How the frick did you gleam that from a pre alpha with no textures, no full list of tricks, no character customization, and tons of glitches?
did you miss all the new shit you can do with jumping off your board mid grind and shit? all the weird flippy shit you can do with your body to add some freestyle nuance to your tricks? so it might be all that, and because it literally feels exactly the same as 3 so far. that is, at the very least, a great sign.
you seem to be the one seething mr two paragraphs defending an EA game because the meanie bobinis don't like that it's going to be a free to play live service instead of just a normal game.

I seriously hope you homosexuals are trolling or are being made to do this, I can't imagine anyone in their right mind defending this awful trend that's a total plague on the industry right now.
>you're still going to buy it
you literally can't. it's free. that's why everyone thinks it's going to be shit. keep up, man
>it's ok to be skeptical but not too skeptical
well yeah, otherwise you end up being closed minded on a lot of different fronts in life. the idea is to find out more about something before you make a final decision on it. and we don't know a lot about this game, aside from the fact that the gameplay seems to be the same, and the things people are clearly concerned about. we literarily have to wait it out to find out if it's actually gonna be shit. so, going "IT'S GONNA BE SHIT DON'T EVEN BOTHER GUISE" before it's even close to being finished is kinda stupid. right?
>NOOOOO STOP DISLIKING THINGS, YOU CAN'T JUST NOT DROP IT YOU CAN'T DO THAT
Lmao what the frick is wrong with you? How is this being a ftp live service not a glaring red flag?
>literally just skate 3 with more content and moves and shit

what you expect them to remove dark catches and the footplants that weren't implemented in the pre alpha? The parkour shit seems like a gimmick i will never use but it's still adding to a near perfect system.
You're assuming I'm going to buy any of these mtx.
people like you will pay for it. i might even buy battlepass depending on the incentives.

They said in a video released this morning that they are planning on a mobile port with cross progression, though it's early in development

the trend really isn't an issue. the progression and monetization doesn't effect the base game at all. the only time that happened was battlefront 2 where the shitstorm was so bad they restructured the entire game.
It makes sense to go this route after three full releases, but then I'd expect them to preserve the history. Microsoft has done more to preserve Skate than the fricking IP holders.

100% agree, that being said playing skate 3 with a friend in the room is never not going to be entertaining.
Hi Tony!
t. someone who never got good at Skate
They are completely different games. skate plays more like a simulator, older tony hawk are more like collect-a-thons

I'm livid. Frick free to play, live service garbage. I'm tried of not being able to just buy a game. I don't need all this extra bullshit.

Skatebrapping is for children. When's cycling

All I wanted was a new skate game man. I didn't want all this other shit tacked on. We got monkey-pawed so hard.
