The game looks terrible, has a lifeless open world, and basic physics. If anything its impressive how Nintendo can make you idiots praise them for doing the bare minimum.
This is pointless because the SD cards the game comes have capacity in powers of 2. The game is just over 16GB so it needs a 32GB card. That means saving space was pointless, they could've given us another 15.9GB of content. >no i said memory not disk space

Korok forest is completely optional. All it does is give you a fucking hint on how to get the mastery sword

It took me about two hours from opening the door with Mineru's head in it to finishing the boss fight. I'm sure you could cheese the puzzles with recall but what's the fun in that?
They feel that they have to lie about it to try to downplay the fact that there is even an underworld at all. You see, these people spent an entire year saying that ToTK wouldn't have an underground, because the Switch couldn't handle it. They couldn't envision a scenario where there was more than just a couple sky islands added on top of the BoTW map, and they let everyone know that there would absolutely not be an underworld map. Now they know how wrong they were, so they have to spend all their time making up lies about why it doesn't matter that the underworld map is the same size as the overworld map. They were wrong on a gigantic scale, but they're terminally online autists.
Fire Temple, Spirit Temple and Final Dungeon is on the Depths. You also need to go to the Depths if you wanna upgrade your Zonai shit plus you get the best armors in the game down there.

oh, I haven't gotten that far yet, then. I take back my comment.
I thought about that some while playing but we've seen that song and dance so much in Zelda, it's almost refreshing just having it be completely separate. Most shit was already optional in BOTW so why not have the depths be optional too?
Yes. That's exactly right LOL
Plus it's ubisoft towers THE GAME down there.
I can't fucking believe people are prizing ubisoft tower shit cracked to 11 when people got bored of them more than a decade ago already...
What do you mean exactly by "more content"? Are you comparing the dark world to the depths in TotK or are you comparing it to Hyrule in ALttP?
If the former, yeah, no shit. It's an older much smaller game from over 20 years ago. If the latter, that's factually incorrect as it has the bulk of the dungeons.
moron the dark world had 8 dungeons in it. More than half the game is spent in the dark world.
The dungeons don’t count. If the dark world wasn’t there, the dungeons would have been on the surface (see Link’s Awakening). That’s like saying BOTW would be better if they removed content from aboveground and put it in the depths. It’s a net zero for the game.
TOTK WOULD be better if it was just one world with more dense unique content

That’s not true. The surface is crammed with quests and things to do. In addition to the quests and much larger number of scripted encounters I think they did a good job of including one-off iterative content for all tastes. I don’t really like the korok find my friend content but I enjoy the Hudson sign content, for instance.

9 jillions "quests" that are one of 5 basic tasks over and over and over is not crammed with content, it's a tiny sliver of content stretched across a world that has no buisiness being as huge as it is.

Depths is really fun to explore. Easily the “gameyest” and must soulful part of the game. If you don’t like it you need to go back to your cutscene games
I wish we could have gotten a legit "dark world" like in lttp.
The retard that I am I actually powered up all 120 light trees.

The depths is for people who actually like to play video games
That isn't a problem, that is a thing you can legitimately do if they have announced they've fucked with the core experience.
The problem here is that they're whining about how it IS the same core experience. They "played" BotW for 15 minutes and now need something new and are upset that people who liked it are being pandered to instead of their unmedicated ADHD ass who doesn't even like games, but likes to be seen as playing them because they're popular.
Ganker is too hungry for internet brownie points to not shitpost. This is the only place aside from Reddit so desperate for internet approval they’ll literally make the same shitposts day in and day out.
Duh? It's a sequel. I mean, I don't even like both games or tendies at all, but a sequel having the same map as the first game isn't exactly as bad as you make it out to be
My biggest problem with the underground is too much vertical travel.
Either having to use rockets or springs every fucking 2 minutes is a pain. Yes I know I can cheap it out with two fans and a control pad.
Also the hand/favorite ability can easily be missed.
>Also the hand/favorite ability can easily be missed.

It literally forces you to go through entire turtorial island again.
And then when you reach the mainland, it teaches you how to headshot enemies and abuse the broken fury rush.
Games have tutorials, that’s not hand holding. That’s perfectly acceptable. Teaching you how to use your abilities is completely different from guiding your exploration or solving puzzles for you
It’s the same map but upside down (inverted on the x axis) so valleys are mountains and mountains are pits
It makes for an entirely different gameplay experience and is a great example of a decision that was lazy for the developers while being really fresh for the player

Having the depths be an alternate way to find shrines on the surface was a stroke of genius. I think the depths shows that the Zelda team still fundamentally understands what makes games fun
Every lightroot is placed under a shrine on the surface. That means that if it find a lot of shrines up top it will make finding lightroots easier and it also means you can find shrines up top by finding lightroots down below. And if you activate two lightroots that look close to each other but there’s still some black on the map in between each other, you know there’s another root there and a shrine there as well.
>go to the depths >open map >switch to surface map >minimap now shows the surface map instead of the depths
There, now you know where the walls and lightroots are all the time
I like the opposite, personally >fully map out the depths with a hoverbike and a giant bloom seed thrown on the front for lighting >find every single root >go to the surface, switch to underground map to find all the surface shrines

I'm fond of them too, but I do feel there's just not enough unique content in them. I enjoyed blindly finding my way to the next lightroot and occasionally stumbling over a mine for many hours, but it wears thin well before you finish exploring the map. I think they needed to either make the depths smaller instead of trying to have the entire world mirrored by the depths so that you can clear it out without it overstaying its welcome, or they needed to give it much more unique content - varied biomes, at least a handful of quests and friendly npcs, and more locations than just mines, yiga outposts, and a few colosseums. There really needed to be at least a couple locations with something really big and unique and cool that you could discover organically as a reward for exploration - I came across the construct factory ahead of time and poked around aimlessly for a bit before the main quest eventually led me back there by the nose.
I didn't know shit about the existence of the depth when I jumped into this game.

Korok Forest and Hyrule Castle require it.
