when are we going to get judgment 3?

nah, you're right. the RPG gameplay improved a little bit, but not enough to carry the game on its own. it needed a great story and/or great character hooks and it delivered neither. i haven't seen anyone ever praise the game's narrative, even relative to other yakuza entries, which is kind of a low bar

on the other hand its mere existence makes widdle crying baby gays like this seethe impotently for all eternity so i don't mind it too much

        I mean, it's better than 3, 5, and 6.
        That's not saying much.

    its fricking boring.
The game simultaneously has 0 stakes due to the annoying muted main story where the most outrageous shit imaginable like the koreans having an ultrasecret base powered by stolen electricity is sidestepped to tell the story of Ichi just trying to talk to his old bosses son and its so steeped in animemelodrama that even the hardest hitting moments ring moronicly hollow. Ichi also has 0 depth, his only two characteristics are empty platitudes and crying. The combat is also boring. Yakuza has never been a top tier beatemup, but it also didnt waste your time with 30 minutes of mook battles to get from A to B. Frick Y7 onward, Im not frickin interested in power of friendship shounenshit

it should of focused on ichiban getting stronger rather than becoming kiryu, i mean joryu, coming out out of retirement again

I consider Y7 a 9/10 but this game was extremely fricking disappointing. Worst story in the entire series and that is saying something.

the Yakuza need to come back. I dont care if the yakuza are gone from japan forever, they need to set this in fantasy japan and make the yakuza coms back. Are japs seriously okay with getting buttfricked by chinese and korean crime syndicates?

It's a turn-based JRPG in 2024 that didn't totally suck. Hawaii looked beautiful. I am okay with style over substance when I like the style and get what I want out of it, so I am ultimately cool with the story being sort of a dud. Lots of like underbaked plot points and characters. Machete pissing himself was kind of dumb. Pricing the game at >$100 to unlock NG+ is criminal, and I would honestly be okay if someone paid for this in blood.

Because rgg turn yakuza into asscreed
7 was good but game should've ended there instead of milking it so much
Also modern rgg getting more and more greedy day by day, literally who charge extra for a ng+
Here how they can fix this
    >End yakuza
    >Focus more on judgement and improve combat
    >60$ no dlc game
    >Don't cater to troon west

The gameplay, while better than 7, is still just extremely average jrpg gameplay with frankly next to no real depth.
The story is bad and by trashing ichiban (in his own game) in favour of more kiryu wank has seriously stunted his character development for unsatisfying results because everyone and their mom (except for nips with shit taste) are tired of Kiryu, he's been through too much and he needs to rest already.

These combined, make for what is actually a very forgettable yakuza game because it has nothing unique to offer.
I enjoyed Gaiden and 7 thoroughly despite their obvious shortcomings because they were unique and had something to offer that didn't feel like either a gigantic waste of potential, or entirely redundant. Same goes for Lost Judgment and it's school setting.
8 does nothing unique, so it's extremely forgettable.

Kickout cringe kiryu, ichiban is fine but one game is enough for him
Either make a solo majima game with 0 like story or bring back akiyama and shinda like main character and don't merge them with kiryu majima

There really doesn't need to be more Yakuza or Ryu/Ryuu ga Gotoku or Like a Dragon or 龍が如く or whatever the frick you want to call them games.

its bad enough bringing kiryu back from 6. if you want to bring him back well okay i guess (but why) then just make him a cameo mentor character like hoshino/arakawa was for ichi and leave it at that. rgg have proven time and time again they can make more standalone characters to lead new games, just commit to them and go with it, as long as whoever voices the new guy can sing for karaoke, that was sorely missing from judgment.

This b***h got ran into the ground and is unsalvageable while they managed to make Chitose shit in the beginning but redeemed by the end. Then Chitose doesn't even hang around with the main cast in the last scene and Ichiban is still simping over Saeko. The balls on those writers.

I liked it but mainly because I was using it as a tool to learn japanese; the gameplay by nature is a repetitive slog that has you just spamming aoe attacks most of the time. The narrative is underwhelming with no real payoff for either Kiryu or Kasuga. I do like all the little character convos they spread out through the cities and Kiryu's side quests are great for the most part.

It's another fricking "Kiryu is finally gonna be gone forever for real this time you guys" bait game commercially masquerading as a Ichiban game and doesn't even wait until another installment to pull out.

That's literally what the pull out is post-game. The game ends for real with his Cancer going into remission and he's currently in the clear again.

He'll probably return as a character, but would they really make him playable again? Look at his hand in the last shot, he's basically a skeleton

I can't see them making him playable again even with a long recuperation time. He was already passing out and getting tied from basic combat even with four people helping him. He should be used as someone Ichiban visits at the orphanage to listen to his stories which lets him learn new moves like he learned from Asakura, and when you visit he sometimes has his friends or acquaintances like Komaki hanging out for various reasons bantering with him about how they had to make the long trip to Okinawa or how Kiryu looks old, stuff like that.

They have the perfect way to use him now without it feeling forced since Ichiban has massive respect for him so of course he'd visit, and Kiryu finally has the peace he wanted.

He may not be in a good way at story's end and his age and experiences have truly begun weighing down on him, but Kiryu being a physical titan who has that dog in him when his friends are getting fricked over will remain until his dying breath. I'm fully convinced Yakuza will one day have a game with a Kiryu who is so old he needs to be hooked up to an air tank and a cane to move anywhere but when it's time to send people flying, the old prune will still rise to his feet and send people literally flying.

Because the gameplay, while an enormous step up from 7, was still way too easy to overlevel or get overpowered in despite their best efforts to try and prevent it. Even if you didn't there's only two bosses in the entire game that even ask you to make use of any of the buffs/debuffs to deal with them, specifically Robo Michio (Solo) and Amon's first fight you're supposed to lose. They've got the right idea but they still need to tweak it so doing side content doesn't overlevel you, or just scale main story encounters if you do. They're so close to having a great JRPG system on their hands and they paid attention to balancing way more this time and did a pretty great job at that with a few notable exceptions like Burning Arrow. Even their bosses are better than 7.

On the story side everything was a complete mess and I am astounded they wrote a story this poor after all these games. Sure, the other games have their dumb moments but the story collapses after chapter 7. Ichiban being relegated to a flanderized side character was one of the dumbest things they could have possibly done for a character they're trying to make as likable and popular as Kiryu. How anyone in the entire company allowed the epilogue to happen, especially with virtually nothing leading up to it, is beyond me. It alone kills Ichiban as a character and makes him out to be the dumbest, most naive person you've ever seen. Not to mention their plan in the ending doesn't even make sense based on all they've established throughout the game.
Kiryu's side has all of the interesting substories and content, so once you split them up I can't understand why they thought making chapter 9 and 11 completely irrelevant while chapter 13 is the only one that matters was a smart idea for Ichiban since Kiryu carries the game on his back after chapter 7.

THe setting and story was absolute dogshit. They just reused party members from the last game for no real reason when there were enough candidates for new party members in the story already. Kiryus chapters were pretty good though.

They murdered the franchise to appeal to tourists with 7, but the tourists already moved on to other FotMs and the series is just totally irrelevant now sadly.

too many twists in the main story
too many "high stakes" going on at the same time

Doing the reminiscences and meeting old characters with Kiryu was one of the high points (how fricking old is Komaki now?)
