    It's not not that bad.
It's amazing and better than DD in many ways. side quests, crafting, exploration, biomes, races.
batahl main quest pacing sucks though.

limit yourself to 2 pawns for fun difficulty.

      >limit yourself to 2 pawns for fun difficulty.
I assume you mean Arisen + Main Pawn. I still feel like I'd breeze through the main game with my endgame gear. Still would like an endgame dungeon to play in.

I think that's the main thing I'm missing is a huge fricking dungeon to play around in. I haven't beaten the game yet but the only sizeable dungeons I found so far were Waterfall Cave and Drabnir's Grotto

Maybe if they add another set of skills onto L2, and bring back all those missing sorcerer spells. Also make it so that good gear comes from exploration and combat rather than the shop.

      > Also make it so that good gear comes from exploration
Pretty much impossible to do correctly since the game is so open and there's no upgrade system to bring early game weapons in line with end game weapons. The nice thing about an upgrade system like in dark souls is that you can bring a normal +0 longsword all the way up to +15 and have it be fine to use against late game enemies. In dragons dogma you find a regular mace in a cave you missed earlier and it's worthless vendor trash to you now.

Unless dragon upgrades make them way better? I haven't used that for anything but armor so far.

it's a good game despite the flaws, but man it's disappointing that it manages to frick up in many of the same ways that base DD1 fricked up, plus several new ones
It does have its own strengths, it's also better than DD1 in several ways, but a sidegrade at best is not what anyone was hoping for.

I pretty much agree. My biggest issue is lack of endgame difficulty and the vocation system seems a little underbaked.

    - The augments are all very underwhelming
    - the fast travel is just tedious and time and money consuming and doesnt benefit anyone being so
-the npcs will hunt you down one after another to force a quest on you (ive had 4 in a row in bakbattahl)
-the scale of enemies is kind of random, some areas just have swarms next to swarms too close together
-the main path is mostly the only way to travel because if you try to explore off the path its primarily mountains
-all the classes and skills seem like a downgrade from DA
-i think the way they handled the main quest is dumb, it shouldnt be that short and trick people so easily into completing it
    - some quest are just obtuse and finding the person is almost impossible because theres no calender to know what day youre on and what day the person shows up
    - obviously having only 1 save file

+I love the combat, compared to how janky Elder scrolls is
+The different smiths have various degrees to their upgrades is neat

I like the fast travel. You're not supposed to be able to zip back and forth casually. If you make use of oxcarts and save ferrystones for when you really need them they can still save a ton of time but don't completely replace just walking places like in games with less restrictive systems.
They could have expanded the ox cart system some, definitely, like it would have been really nice to be able to doze off and then wake up halfway if that's closer to where you want to go, and another route or two would have been really nice, but I like that easy fast travel is expensive enough to make you really consider when to use it and as you get closer to the lategame and have to go back and forth longer distances, port crystals and ferrystones both get common enough to use more regularly. Still not cheap but as long as you're being efficient with your portcrystal placements you never have to run too far.

Like i work 40+ hours for a living, i dont have time to waste

Fully agree. Not to mention the quest design is some of the worst I've ever encountered. This portcrystal/ferrystone thing would be more than fine if the game was put together by more competent people. Half the time, the game is wasting your time.

I'm so bitter and angry about this game. It really feels like an alpha build. The fact that Capcom signed off on this and decided it was ready for release at 70 fricking dollars is just insane.

    >The castle "infiltration" quests are an absolute slap in the face
    >The repetitive, shallow encounters with the same basic enemies
    >The pathetic excuse for music
    >The complete lack of challenge
    >The glaring performance issues
    >The NPC's being vapid placeholders that give no life to the world
    >The "story"

This game was released 2 years too early. It could have been something great. I really haven't been this disappointed in a game in many years.

the blacksmith in 1 is better than every single character in 2. and saying "just like 1" isn't an excuse. they had 12 years to improve, instead they regressed.

I'm not defending DD2. Quite the opposite. I'm saying DD1 had these issues and I think people have nostalgia goggles for it.

Once again, reminding people that Dark Arisen was why you liked DD1, considering that it replaced OG DD for a reason. And its understandable, best end game content for such a bare bones fricking game.
