You don't have to follow the story apparently. You can just hunt stuff to get money and still unlock everything.
So do you need to buy bunch of cancerous dlc "licenses" to actually shoot stuff in this one?
There are some areas where you need a license but it's only bought with in game money there's no dlc store or whatever. Just a way for players to progress and unlock some remote areas of the map.
Playing it right now the graphics and sound design aren't as good as cotw but some things are better imo like not having a sound gauge.
Game also seems pretty hard.
Any reason to get this if I already play CotW? I only looked little bit into this and it didn't seem that different. Since I barely have enough time for CotW as it is, having two of the same game is just pointless and I imagine CotW is ahead in terms of content with it's million DLCs.
Animals are drawn at longer distances and it seems to have a cool mechanic where animals age and breed over time? You are supposed to be able to cull shitty deer so the good ones breed more or something.
It seems ok from what I've seen but I think people are being wildly charitable with their reviews too. Like some people are talking about amazing animal animations but watching any gameplay let's you see how much they loop.
It's too early to tell but the AI seems pretty good and animals seem to behave more realistically (they wont come back to the ssme spot 5 min after you killed one of them like in COTW).
Game is also harder is lots of ways. It's harder to track animals and follow blood trails works and they get spooked more easily.
There's also an interesting system where if you only kill low trophy level animals the herd will get genetically stronger since the alpha males are able to reproduce.
If you only kill high level targets then you'll get weaker herds as alpha males didn't pass on their genes.
It's a lot less gay than saying " I molested my sisters son and now can't vote, own firearms and am on a permanent sex offender registry so I can't live near schools or even be near them regardless for what reason."
Fricker promised to keep it a secret but kids have no sense of consequence so they just blab about it and then ask "Where's uncle Matthew, he used to bring me transformers?" frick kids
Why the frick would anyone want to pirate vanaris story? Even without the characters and "story" it would be shite that tries to trck you it's anything like FFT.
>Still no modern hunting sim where you can kill exotic/endangered species because of muh ethics and muh preservation
I just wanna shoot pixels in the shape of monkeys and elephants
I have been playing it for a few days with a review code, patched dayone, I just want to tell you that the game is awesome, it looks gorgeous, it's ultra comfy and definitely leans more on the side of simulation. However I got a bug that overlaps multiple times or completely removes the wind noise and there is no way to fix it except by deleting everything and starting over (it's a save file bug, in my case 30 hours down the drain). I haven't read anything about it but I did report it just now, I suggest you wait for the next patch
good to know, hopefully they can fix and include it in the next patch because I have become a hunter junkie and the game is top tier indeed. I have another review code for next-gen, maybe while waiting I'll try it on console with the hope of not encountering the same bug again

So what makes this game stand out from call of the wild?
From a simulation point of view, it's more like theHunter than COTW, from which it differs in the unpredictability of some situations. In COTW, for example, you can be consistent in taking down animals as early as a dozen hours, and the dlc equipment (along with perks) becomes an easy mode that can bore some people; with WOTH, on the other hand, you can screw it up because some herds are unpredictable-even observing with binoculars you sometimes notice an overly timid specimen jumping for a sudden noise (perhaps himself stepping on a dry branch) and causing everyone to run away, wasting a 20-40 minute stakeout. It may sound frustrating, but the three times it has happened (always under different circumstances), it has brought a smile to my face
Sounds cool. Cotw can definitely become too easy with weapon dlcs and perks but shooting with a musket or bow without a scope is still incredibly rewarding when you get a kill
Important question: Are birdsongs spatialized to objects? Big problem with thehunter is you can walk around an invisible floating bird. Should be limited to only emanating from trees, etc.
Are these the same devs who thought that The Hunter would be a good idea? A "free to play" game that literally has nothing, and you need to individually buy every single one of the game mechanics with real money before you can play? A hunting game that gives you no locations to hunt in, no license to kill a single animal species and no weapons to do it with, but at least it's free!
You mean the multimillion dollar franchise theHunter? The most popular hunting game that made enough money to branch out into an upcoming fishing game? No. This is a clone trying to get a slice of that.
Call of The Wild is the actual game. The good, popular and profitable game. "The Hunter" was the original, F2P game that let you play literally 0% unless you paid. You get to start the game. That's it. No locations, no weapons, no hunting licenses. Anything you want to do, you have to pay for.
I guess the idea was to let players pay exactly what they want just for hunting specific prey with specific weapons, but the end result was just a shitstorm that nobody wanted to get caught in.
It's supposed to be the antithesis to that. I'll pirate it to find out but looks promising. Also yes I could also pirate thehunter with everything unlocked but frick that that shite doesn't deserve the bandwith.
quite the opposite, he's the same dev who always wanted COTW more simulative and with many additional mechanics, he left together with 8-9 other devs (from theHunter classic) and created this game
Well, looks like the steam reviews agree with you, full of people complaining about 60 FOV and no rebinding. It's something they should be able to fix eventually but the fact it didn't launch with these is weird.

So that's what I saw on a video. Some homosexual was hunting deer, saw that, moved the camera away without explaining anything and pretended nothing was wrong.
I think devs are paying for positive videos.
hunt call of the wild was nice but most of these "simulation" games still severely lack in weather simulation like rain, wind or storms. I get more immersion from stalker games.
I'd say the weather is pretty decent, probably the best looking rain, thunder never fails to scare the living shit out of me (mostly because of the volume I play the game at) and the Alaskan reserve is probably my favourite because of the snow covering the greenery and then going away when the sun comes up again. But yeah, nothing can really compare to slav voodoo that created stalker.
People say this game looks just as good as COTW but I'm not seeing it. Feels like there's a few shader passes missing. Not a good look when COTW is five years old.
The harvest screen shows what difficulty the animal was shot at, any trophy killed lower than max difficulty with no assists turned on is going to be laughed at
It's definitely a game
something it definitely does better than cotw is audio, you can hear animals moving and doing things very clearly; whereas in cotw all you can really hear is the footsteps. that's about all it does better
COME ON IT'S OUT
when you see two other characters crouched like that you know its gonna be some battle royale, squad based multiplayer loot box shit fest no thx
...it's actually a singleplayer hunting game simulation
How does it feel to be so wrong?
So crouching characters triggers you idiots now?
lmao how can one be so wrong in a single sentence
I don't much care for a story in a hunting game, since there's almost no way for them to make it not feel forced or cringe.
>Jack, Uncle Clay is in the hospital and his last wish was for you to "Hunt 5 whitetail deer from at least 100m away".
You don't have to follow the story apparently. You can just hunt stuff to get money and still unlock everything.
There are some areas where you need a license but it's only bought with in game money there's no dlc store or whatever. Just a way for players to progress and unlock some remote areas of the map.

I wish I had parents or someone to show me how to hunt
Honestly I used to hunt irl but it can get pretty boring, expensive and it's insanely regulated. I have more fun in games like cotw
I just want to feel self-sufficient instead of being a CONSOOMER who only knows how to get meat from the grocery store
Have you tried fishing bro? It's a lot easier to get into. Discovering different types of fish can be really cool and tasty.
Any reason to get this if I already play CotW? I only looked little bit into this and it didn't seem that different. Since I barely have enough time for CotW as it is, having two of the same game is just pointless and I imagine CotW is ahead in terms of content with it's million DLCs.

>open a review
>last con, listed as can only play as a white male
lol
Unless you can hunt darkies I'm not going to play.
I hope it won't be crap or a DLC fest like CotW but I won't get my hopes up.
There's some bugs I've seen in reviews which get fixed.
You can hunt bucks, does that count?
Well, alright. I'm not legally allowed to own guns IRL so I might actually give it a spin.
>I'm not legally allowed to own guns IRL
It's gay how you go out of your way to say this.
It's a lot less gay than saying " I molested my sisters son and now can't vote, own firearms and am on a permanent sex offender registry so I can't live near schools or even be near them regardless for what reason."
Fricker promised to keep it a secret but kids have no sense of consequence so they just blab about it and then ask "Where's uncle Matthew, he used to bring me transformers?" frick kids
>frick kids
Anon haven't you learned
Just model replace the deer with CJ from San Andreas.
>IT'S OUT
where
It's out on Xbox at least. Steam release in like an hour I think?
whaty the frick thats illegal
how can copying a number be illegal?`
Why the frick would anyone want to pirate vanaris story? Even without the characters and "story" it would be shite that tries to trck you it's anything like FFT.
Calm down it's just a browsing catalog
website ?

I've seen multiple reports so I hope they catch it quick, besides that the game seems top tier.

what kinds of unusual guns are there
All Chiappetta rifles and part of the Ricchione series
Any predator/prey mechanics or do wolves chill next to deer like in cotw?
There's a donkey who kills basically every animals on its path but it:s quite rare
WTF
what animals are in the game? i know there's deer, wolves and pheasants. anything else?
Hunting game threads always have a testicle shot review screenshot. Can someone dispense a testicle shot from Way of the Hunter?
not gonna pay 40 shekels for a hunting game. because I will not
Important question: Are birdsongs spatialized to objects? Big problem with thehunter is you can walk around an invisible floating bird. Should be limited to only emanating from trees, etc.
is this more/less hc than call of the wild?
There's no sex mods for it to be "hc" yet, so no.
yep it's out on steam.
https://www.gog.com/en/game/way_of_the_hunter
please wait warmly
>gog version
excellent. there will be a torrent in minutes
How much of of the "press X to highlight everything" can you turn off?
All of it, it's explicitly mentioned in the trailer.
Are these the same devs who thought that The Hunter would be a good idea? neither do you, fricking homosexual
It's supposed to be the antithesis to that. I'll pirate it to find out but looks promising. Also yes I could also pirate thehunter with everything unlocked but frick that that shite doesn't deserve the bandwith.
It's made by ex call of the wild devs from what I heard.
that doesnt sound good
quite the opposite, he's the same dev who always wanted COTW more simulative and with many additional mechanics, he left together with 8-9 other devs (from theHunter classic) and created this game

Can someone buy the game on steam, refund it and post a review of the torrent magnet as the review?
>only 10gb
is this safe
That's the game size. You can also check the md5 hash from the FLT nfo if you're not a moron (doubtful).
Actually it's a blake 3 hash
NICE RAT Black person
How's the coop? The same as in CotW?
Didn't that game have keybinds and an FOV slider? Cause this one doesn't.
Licensed guns are cancer. Going to be much harder to add new guns going forward.
How big are the maps? How many of them there are?
torrented it and then deleted it, doesn't have keybinds or an fov slider, gragpics are shite and worse yet unoptimized as frick
Well, looks like the steam reviews agree with you, full of people complaining about 60 FOV and no rebinding. It's something they should be able to fix eventually but the fact it didn't launch with these is weird.
they really thought it was okay to have a game in this state?
Modern devs don't actually play videogames.
this doesn't look right
So that's what I saw on a video. Some homosexual was hunting deer, saw that, moved the camera away without explaining anything and pretended nothing was wrong.

Looks like the publisher probably forced them to release the thing before it was ready.
>"press to know what to do" sense
confirmed casual game
you can turn it off
The harvest screen shows what difficulty the animal was shot at, any trophy killed lower than max difficulty with no assists turned on is going to be laughed at
can you hit and run over animals with an ATV?
It's definitely a game
something it definitely does better than cotw is audio, you can hear animals moving and doing things very clearly; whereas in cotw all you can really hear is the footsteps. that's about all it does better
weapon handling and bullet physics are way better.
I gear the game has a campaign, how Is It?
