something like "how could dis happen"
the "n" sound would be a little different. but koreans can pronounce most of the sounds in that sentence.

Wasn't Twitch making hand over fist just about anywhere? I don't care abiut E-celebs going broke, but first they cut revenue for streams and now they drop a whole country?

Its weird seeing conpanies who just needed to exist to profit become comidically greedy.

Didn't some anon say earlier this year that this would happen because the shadow government (inb4 anything, remember this was literally confirmed in the mainstream media) in SK was making their own platform so they pass some bogus law that forced Twitch to route traffic through S.Korean servers, increasing the costs massively... in order to get them to leave? I don't care about streaming so I didn't save it, but surely one of you mouth-breathers that prefer to watch some moron play games instead of playing the games yourself must have.

It's not made up. Their president was impeached over it and it was all over Korean news. It just went quiet fast once Clinton ties came about.

It's "made up" in the sense that it's completely irrelevant in this context (on several different levels.) You could just google this in the time it took you to write the post and maybe you'd at least discover that impeachment was literally two presidencies ago and has nothing to do with SK's current government?

True as well. The corporation is Naver, a tech branch of a megacorp, whose owner was mentioned in several links posted in that now infamous /misc/ thread (the most common screenshot of it being pic related) outing the shadow cabal that ended in the 2016 scandal, indeed acknowledged by mainstream media (e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_South_Korean_political_scandal). Anyway, the assumption is that they lobbied the government, which isn't unlikely by any stretch of the imagination, easily "proved" by:

              >has nothing to do with SK's current government
You're wrong. There are several examples, but you won't really read them so here's one (1) to shut you up: Kim Hyunsook, current Minister of Family in SK, appointed by Yoon Suk Yeo (current president) was also a Presidential Secretary in Park Geun-hye's government, i.e. she worked for her, not just in the government as her opponent. Why would the "I hate feminazism" guy install as the Minister of Family a cabinet member of his formerly sworn nemesis? It really makes you think.

Additionally, you're extremely naive, if not outright moronic of you to think that presidents have any power to leverage about cabals; Yoon almost assuredly on the take too, by will or by force; and if SKanons are to be believed, Yoon's wife uses museum connections through her company that manages art galleries through which a lot of wealth is laundered... not to mention her galleries are chock-full of modern art, some of it very puzzling for someone who claims to be a Christian, if you catch my drift.

              >it's completely irrelevant in this context
It isn't. Naver is very powerful in terms of espionage and technological surveillance, and the equivalent (in function) as Baidu, and both have their holding companies secretively (i.e. their largest and majority shareholder is undisclosed, gargantuan red flag). There is no chance in hell they aren't lining the pockets of any politician who vote in governmental matters is of importance.

Are you moronic? He appointment to his government a member of Park's government, the woman who was owned by the Cabal. How is this a conspiracy when it has been proven, publicly? And how isn't an argument when it literally and unequivocally disproves your point?
                >there would be no need to get this supposed shadow government to make Naver create a new one.
We've established you're moronic, so I'll try to explain it to you as if you're a little kid:
Pretend Naver is Google. The US government is sick and tired of Tiktok being a Chinese tool because people are moronic (like you) and they all install it on their phones, even goverment officials. Therefore, the US seeks to ban Tiktok from the US, and have Google (actually it's Meta/Amazon the ones doing this) to make their own Tiktok. Oh, and by the way, it also spy on its users, but since it's owned by the USA then it's all okay!
                >Lobbying is done in the open, it's not a secret conspiracy.
I agree. Naver lobbies the SK government, I already mentioned this.

                >That's all the evidence anyone with a triple-digit IQ should need
Surely someone with triple-digit IQ would at least need to know the definition of evidence.
                >Trump? You mean the guy pictured dozens of times with the LGBT flag? The guy who didn't build the wall, lock Hillary up, stop migration, curbed back homosexualry indoctrination, etc.? That Trump? The guy whose children are all married to israelites?
Yes? Do those things also mean he's black because Obama is?

                >How is this a conspiracy when it has been proven, publicly?
Because one thing being proven doesn't mean a different thing is also proven? Isn't that why you had to make that moronic statement about how "it makes you think" rather than posting any evidence?
                >The US government is sick and tired of Tiktok being a Chinese tool because people are moronic (like you) and they all install it on their phones, even goverment officials. Therefore, the US seeks to ban Tiktok from the US, and have Google (actually it's Meta/Amazon the ones doing this) to make their own Tiktok. Oh, and by the way, it also spy on its users, but since it's owned by the USA then it's all okay!
And your argument in this analogy is that if the US did this openly then that would mean a "shadow government" actually made them do it, even when they explicitly said they were doing it for those reasons.
                >I agree. Naver lobbies the SK government, I already mentioned this.
So why would the "shadow government" have to secretly make them create something that already exists?

Yes when it was proven, publicly, openly, that the shadow cabal existed and operated -exactly- as the korean /misc/gays said it did.
                >it didn't claim SK didn't have livestreaming websites, why did you imply it did?

                >I have provided you with evidence, which is publicly accessible. What piece of evidence are you missing which I haven't spoonfed you yet?
You said that "all the evidence you would need" to prove the current president is controlled by the same cult is him appointing one member of the former president's government, even though that member isn't even proven to be part of the cult. That's at least two steps removed from proving what you think it proves.
                >Ah, backpedaling now? I don't know why I'm surprised.
I'm not backpedaling on the claim that Trump is black, I'm asking you if you believe it. What if Obama's favorite musician was Skrillex, would that also mean Skrillex is Trump's favorite musician? I'm just trying to follow along with your triple digit moron logic here.
                >What isn't proven? That Yoon hired his nemesis secretary as Minister of Family? It's public knowledge, literally just google it.
And this supposedly also proves Trump is black, right? Or does it only prove one irrelevant thing?
                >Yes when it was proven, publicly, openly, that the shadow cabal existed and operated -exactly- as the korean /misc/gays said it did.
If you had actually followed this whatsoever you'd know they said that after it had already been proven.
But your analogy doesn't work because that's not proven to be true for the US, but you're saying that the US government doing everything it says it'll do in the open would be proof it's controlled by a shadow government. What would the "shadow" aspect exactly be if it's doing it openly?
                >Quote back to me where I "implied" that. I'll wait.

I'm confused why you would even think you'd need to search for or even find them when you've already established that you making the claim is the same thing as proving it.
                >There's a difference between me implying and you inferring.
Absolutely, the difference between the two is that I inferred it because you implied it. In response to me saying it's false that SK didn't have livestreaming websites you said the article would answer this. So how does it answer it?

By the way, here's the actual claim again:

I was just curious if you think this is also why the SK government is taxing people? Or why it's maintaining the roads? Since you seem to believe completely normal, public government stuff is done by a "shadow government"?

Anon, to put this into a context that might help you understand it better, you're essentially trying to argue that if it turned out to be true that Obama was gay and controlled by some sorta gay illuminati then that would also mean Trump is gay and controlled by the same group, simply because they're both politicians.

If you really think the gender war bullshit is gone, just look at the recent gacha drama. Korean incels unironically got vindicated and found out the company that makes animations for many gachas is managed by a women who regularly post Megalia and radical feminist bullshit to the point of posting the Megalia icon in many animations. Seriously it just sounded like upset incels being schizos about some shadow feminist conspiracy but it turned out to be fricking true. SK is on another level and any Westerner that thinks it's just petty Feminist/Incel drama are completely out of touch. Western Feminists have nothing on Korean feminist in acting like actual like a cartoon villain. They fricking wish for the death of all men and want to kill male babies

There was no goddess cult, that was a meme. The cult that people were referencing was a Christian cult run by a bunch of duded and one of the leader's daughters was friends with their president. They had a group of government officials by their balls. This was in the 2016 scandal.

          It's true... Sep/2022:
          https://www.thegamer.com/twitch-korea-limiting-stream-quality-to-720p/
"The Korean bill would have global content providers pay local ISPs for network congestion"
          Then 2 months later... Dec/2022:
          https://ttonl.org/15586/lifestyle/twitch-announces-new-limitations-on-south-korea/
"On Nov.10, video-streaming platform Twitch announced that they will remove VOD content in South Korea by Dec. 13"

          >SK was making their own platform
True as well. The corporation is Naver, a tech branch of a megacorp, whose owner was mentioned in several links posted in that now infamous /misc/ thread (the most common screenshot of it being pic related) outing the shadow cabal that ended in the 2016 scandal, indeed acknowledged by mainstream media (e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_South_Korean_political_scandal). Anyway, the assumption is that they lobbied the government, which isn't unlikely by any stretch of the imagination, easily "proved" by:
          November, 2023
          https://koreajoongangdaily.joins.com/news/2023-11-23/business/industry/Naver-to-reenter-game-industry-with-new-livestream-platform/1919846

Twitch like many other bloated media websites is saturated by useless "employees" who do jack shit except clock in, go to the office cafeteria for free food, laze about for a couple hours, and clock out. You could cut the employees to double digits and it would not only improve performance, but actually start making a profit.

Youtube. Niconico is kind of a dying platform only used by Japanese boomers. It took forever to adopt HTML5 video playback (it was using flash as last as like 2017 if memory serves) and it used to be extremely stingy with features if you weren't a paying member (only one vid at a time, lowest quality only during peak hours etc)

There's some JPs on twitch though, especially for things like watchalong content due to the integration between prime video and twitch.

Twitch has dropped doing big contracts. It's not worth it for them because the audience at large doesn't leave the site. These other companies all follow the mixer pattern of bribing streamers with massive contracts and still fail to gain real growth. This has been happening long enough for us to see those contracts run out and the streamers come back to twitch assuming they still have any relevance at all. In post COVID world the real value of streamers has plummeted in terms of audience retention. Kick has unlimited oil money so they don't care, but this is not a profitable deal.

How can they forcefully charge services money like that? The users are initiating the connection, if they are using an undue amount of bandwidth then it would be on the user, not the service. As opposed to? Gigabit is a measurement of data transfer, not volume or anything else. Obviously you let your customers pay more for bigger cables. That's the same across the world. This is a one time cost when building these data centers. Afterwards you pay for traffic, not your cables. Moron.

          Anonymous

          >the same across the world

What? Twitch / Google has trillions of dollars, and they make hundreds of billions of dollars each year. What kind of clown world nonsense is that?

      Anonymous

I think Twitch Korea basically is its own thing with own leadership. There was rumors that it's highly abusive to streamers, especially female ones and I wouldn't be surprised if they shut it down because there was some controversial stuff or whatever and they're tired of them not cleaning stuff up over there.

You don't make billions of dollars by keeping dead projects afloat. Most tech companies are invested in so many dead end projects or ideas that they'd be better off literally burning the money instead.

      Anonymous

They can afford to lose money there if they wanted to, but why would they want to? The whole reason twitch matters to Korean streamers is because it gives them access to wealthy western audiences. They need the west, the west doesn't need them. Even the coomers will just find other Asian prostitutes who will undoubtedly see this opportunity to swoop in.

      >why isnt this company wasting money for no reason?

  41. 3 months ago
    Anonymous

If that is not a sure sign that Twitch, despite being owned by a titan of a company Amazon, won't be able to pay to stay in Korea(arguably one of the reasons the site blew up in popularity in the early days), then that's a massive red flag that the company is losing so much fricking money right now.

From all of the layoffs, the unblockable aggressive ads, cutting corners with removing features and even increasing the price of ad-free shit, its safe to say that Twitch's days are numbered. I give it Q1 2025 to be the time Twitch closes doors permanently or at least get sold off for billions, like MySpace did back in the day. Expect thousands of twitch partners to be working in retail and fast food chains when the ship sinks.

Based. American services should be banned by other countries because they always promote globo homosexual since the very beginning. For example, Twitter helped shill Kpop hard especially in Japan where it was revealed Twitter Japan was suppressing anime and manga hashtags in favor of Kpop hashtags. After Elon Musk fired the Twitter Japan staff, you now have shonen manga hashtags appear on Twitter rather than Kpop like before.

South Korea is wild. Like 95% of the male population 30 and younger are full on blackpilled unapologetic misogynists because they redirected all of their anger of failing social systems and economic downturns not on the elite (who get bailed out at every opportunity), but on programs for women. In a country that has one of the highest homicide and violent crime rates against women in the world.
What the frick is going on over there?

It's not the violence against women, it's that almost the entire population of men under 30 think that women rule and are ruining their country because a few social program bones got tossed their way despite the aforementioned violence, homicide and pretty much any other statistic you can throw being massively disproportionate against women compared to anywhere else.

        To specify here.
South Korea basically has a caste system - except its divided based on employment.

Samsung employees or people working for their subsidiaries are those who made it.
People working for other lower tier companies like Hyundai, SK, LG or KIA are 2nd class citizens who just failed to hit the mark. They can still live a somewhat stable life but not having that respected Samsung job will always remind them that they failed everyones expectations.
And on the lowest level are people who work for small businesses like your local fruit store. Those don't even tell their family and friends where they work it out of fear of being laughed at. Not much better than being unemployed
