I actually enjoy playing Guild Wars 2 but the writing is so awful that I start feeling shame for playing it and put it down. The early character quests are ok but everything past level 50 is snooze inducing at the best of times

They were pawns of demons, a useful tool of Abaddon's minions, that's the very opposite of badass. The player character in GW is a badass, he fulfills the Flameseeker prophecies, talks to literal gods, succeeds where Turai Ossa had failed and shoves his boot so deep up Khilbron's ass that he no longer manages to resurrect himself.

He didn't give much help outside of standing in place and vomiting exposition. The protagonist also closes that door and battles the titans as they pour all over Tyria and succeeds in that too. He literally defeats, the Charr and then what Charr worshiped as gods and then kills the actual god that those lesser beings came from as well in Nightfall.

EOTN added a lot of shit I didn't like too and laid the groundwork for cancer to come, this was definitely not one of their brightest moments. The difference in writing was strong and the adventure wasn't as compelling either. The Asura didn't need to exist either. I cannot really remember anything memorable from EOTN despite it trying its best to be cinematic, whereas I remember very well the conversation Jurah had with Margrid the Sly.

I liked most of the dungeons personally. It was a new thing for me back then though so I'm not sure if they were actually good or if it was just a honeymoon thing.

the dungeons were neat, I'm replaying EoTN currently and just did the ebonhawke shit + CoF, I love seeing gwen seething at pyre, I bet the took so much barbed wiener while captive

The dungeons were fine at first, but they got old very quick because they used the same two-three model and texture tilesets, them being extremely samey became apparent after you went through the first five and only few of them had truly unique bosses, like the Frostmaw.

And I mentioned the conversation between Jurah and Margrid for an important reason. it was a man talking to a typical strong don't need nobody female corsair captain. When she asked him what could be more important than money, he retorted with "Your soul, child." And you know what happened next? There was no fricking epic quip, she didn't tell the old man to cut it out and stop being overdramatic. She went quiet. She gave his words due weight, because this was a man that had spent his life hunting fricking demons, it was an older, more experienced man, involved in worldly affairs and politics and she realized that it wasn't about Varesh or her imperialistic bullshit, but actual shit coming down and that demons are fricking real and super hell will open under their feet soon if they don't do something.

Can you imagine how that conversation would have gone down in GW 2?

It is sensible for someone that is capable and competent to have had a capable and competent mentor, but Vizier Khilbron definitely was not one. He was a second rate manipulator that used his powers in an incredibly brutish and straightforward way. I would say that the protagonist of GW 1 was mostly mentored by his or her experiences, but if we go with a Tyrian character, I suppose the time he had spent serving in the Ascalon Vanguard in service of the crown in years after the Searing were the actual solid core that developed the character into the badass that he would become. It is shown that there was a significant time-skip between the Searing and your character entering the game when you "come back from patrol" and talk to the guard that leads you ahead into the game proper. Whatever had happened during those years, most likely was some tough shit.

The char could not use magic at all without titan powers, magic is the domain of the human gods normally, Abaddon in fact. The minions of Abaddon gave the Charr magic. Unless you mean to say that their conquest of Tyria never saw them use magic again, outside of The Searing.

            >my main char was a sylvari, which lets you meet Thrahearne much earlier in the story so he's not out of nowhere
In 2012 Trahearne outright didn't remember you if you had met him in the Caladbolg quest before the Claw Island mission. ANet patched in a two-second cutscene where he says "oh, Valiant, it's a pleasure to see you again" upon meeting you, but then he's back to talking to you like you're a complete stranger.

            >Diversities Edge
They just didn't get a cool poster like the last crew. But each member of both generations does frick all when you team up with them in the story, so I don't hold one above the other.

Destiny's Edge have two things over their replacements: they actually interact with one another, and they have some major drama that they eventually overcome thanks to you. I don't remember Braham ever interacting with Kasjory or Rox interacting at all, they've adventuring for an in-game decade and they barely acknowledge each other. They have nothing tying them together, they don't grow as a team and the only drama that was ever presented was Braham throwing a three-year tantrum at the player character and then low-key apologising for two more years.
That's not even counting Destiny's Edge having a whole book dedicated to them, while the lore around Diversity's Edge is that every character started existing when the plot demanded it.
            >Eir spent some 10-odd years going on adventures, turns out she had a husband and kid she never told anyone about
            >Kasmeer's sob story about her gambling addicted brother is an excuse to explain her ability to detect lies, which is used twice and never mentioned again
            >Marjory's entire backstory boils down to "a kid was murdered and she hasn't found the killer after twenty years, also she's the best detective ever"

It's going to bomb. GW2 was made by a bunch of people who knew how to code AND how to build hype, while current ANet can barely recycle shit that's been in the game for years and give it a different coat of paint.
The company has also been historically shit at managing their game, jumping between contradicting statements and constant shifts in business models.
Lastly, GW2 is largely sustained by whales who are probably not going to like all of their real money going down the drain as a new game pops up with a new cash shop.

      >everything past level 50
Anon... Are you seriously complaining about the original story from 2012?

I'm still mad they didn't let Braum die at the ideal point to not only close his character arc, but also let him go out on a decent note that would have made the playerbase remember him somewhat fondly despite his unpleasant characterization before and after.

      >somewhat fondly
Braham decided he wanted to channel the big tard dragon because a troony npc told him to check his privilege. Doing so made him a big tard himself that the players fight for half a scripted battle. He doesn't even kill the dragon, since it's killed off by its twin's ACK beam, making Braham's entire involvement in the story absolutely pointless.
Lastly, his death would have shifted attention away from the intended focus, which was always Rytlock grieving the death of his wife's son.
There was no way to kill off Braham without making it look like a joke.

        >which was always Rytlock grieving the death of his wife's son.
I know you're memeing but it's his actually estranged son. Say what you will but the Charr are actually written half decently in the game, they still retain that savage ferocity. That entire final scene shows that Rytlock has become soft from being best bros with a human and hanging out with the Diversity Squad, especially with Crecia tells her own son "I should've bled you out in my womb." before Rytlock is forced to kill him. Honestly kind of a kino scene despite how moronic the end of IBS was.

Braham should've died though, full stop. Him showing up looking like a goofy ass homeless man with a scraggly pube beard at the lesbian wedding was weird. And we haven't seen him since, have we?

With Aurene essentially replacing all the other dragons so we won't have le evil dragon apocalypse with all the heckin' minorities and diverse peoples of colour of Tyria can now live in peace. Yeah, I agree. The setting for the story was not half bad, in fact it was quite interesting. But you can't expect Anet to handle it properly.

It was more that they rushed it due to wanting to release a Cantha based expansion and unironically due to COVID limitations. IBS was great up until Drizzlewood ended, which also happened to be the last pre-COVID LWS episode. It initially released with no voice acting because of lockdowns.

Perhaps, still unfortunately doesn't change the fact that the climax and direction of the story was clear from way back. I remember telling my guil mates back when Path of Fire was released and some of the open world afterwards how it'll be Aurene saving the day with the help of some bullshit McGuffin so the whole concept of the elder dragons can be swept under a rug.

              >since first expansion
it was since the game released. But people pretty much accepted that half assed pvp was its endgame.
The "fixes" came way too late, years even, even though they had been refusing people what they wanted, and even then, the fixes were half assed. If anything, I'd say its first expansion while underwhelming, it had its fair honeymoon period, but MMOs can't survive on that alone

Except the PvP for the most part weren't half assed. The combat system was nigh flawless and conquest was equally excellent for it. I do not understand why and how the frick they managed to drop the ball and shoot themselves in the foot by first fundamentally breaking PvP and then taking 9 months to fix it (in effect killing it in the process). But don't mistake that from the fact that absolutely the original vision for this game was the same as the game that came before. An MMO with a clear PvP focus /w some extra fluff every now and then.
              >but MMOs can't survive on that alone
Guild Wars 1 did. A well designed PvP for an MMO sustains itself if you oversee (keep it balanced) well. In GW2 that was not the case. And it is still not the case. WvW was arguably handled even worse.

              >the end game has always been PvP
This hasn't been the case since the early days of Prophecies

              Wrong.

The original idea of the IBS was to set up Jormag and Primordus as two elder dragons wreaking havoc at the same time but their writers could barely handle ONE dragon at a time. Then NCSoft laid off ⅓ of the company. Then ANet announced a new expansion and had to wrap up the IBS one way or another, so in the end the two elder dragons were handwaved as "if one dies, the other dies as well" and had Jormag explode Primordus, killing xerself in the process, too.

Partially true. Weapons and trinkets and rings etc yes, but armor is limited to class type (light, med, heavy).

That only makes sense though. If you make the legendary rifle, of course a necromancer won't be able to equip it. If you make the legendary heavy armour, of course your ranger won't be able to wear it. Any warrior, guardian or revenant on your account, however, can use it just fine.

Gameplay-wise its lowkey one of, if not the best MMO on the market; introduced a ton of new innovations and whatnot.

But the terrible writing and lackluster content expansions killed it.

He left the company after the first expansion to work on some Amazon game, the whole thing was cancelled and he hopped back to ANet just in time to hype End of Dragons, the expansion that collectively told historical fans to go frick themselves and caused the game to shift to the current business model made of early access shit and battle passes.

Anet is so fricking terrible at writing female leaders its kind of impressive.
          >Krytan Queen's sheer incompetence recalls warriors from one of the most important battles in history. Results in 10% of the continent getting glassed and Glint dying.
          >As a result Ebonhawke is now getting fricked by purple zombies and Charr incursions.
          >Rather than provide any military aid, she instead labels anyone who thinks maybe the Charr shouldn't be slaughtering farmers in a land grab as a traitor.
          >For being the biggest simp of all time and leaving his comrades for dead she promotes Logan to captain of her personal police force answerable only to her.
          >Logan would go on to be the most incompetent human being to ever live and get countless more people killed through sheer moronation across multiple expansions. Is never punished due to his relationship with the queen.
          >Queen also enforces a rigid class structure that leads to much of the populous resenting her.
          >The elected members of the government decided that maybe the queen shouldn't just get to act like a tyrant.
          >But before they can even do anything she decides to dissolve the elected branch of the government proving them all right and immediately leading bloody conflict at the capital.
          >Anet thinks this is a heroic character who deserves respect.

Buckle up buddy, it's from the most anticipated and objectively terrible Cantha expansion.

As an aside, while the story and pretty much everything about End of Dragons was trash, I did enjoy one aspect: the last open world boss. They released it as a very difficult final encounter necessary to get the final mount, and the playerbase went absolutely insane. It was revealed that the average GW2 player did about 2k dps (with raids requiring you to do 15-20k). There was no way of filtering the map so you were basically stuck with whoever showed up, and you hoped for the best. A big focus of the expansion was trying to teach mechanics and maximize DPS for endgame, but the average player was just too moronic. So they had hissy fits because they couldn't get the mount and eventually ArenaNet nerfed it to the ground.

That said, beating that shit early in the morning several years ago with a ragtag team of randoms was the most I ever felt accomplished in that game. I haven't had fun outside of WvW since.

The worst aspect of GW2 is the community. Every time Anet tries to step foot into content that requires at least 2 braincells they lose their shit until it's dropped or nerfed into the ground.

The tragedy is designing fun, interesting and challenging encounters is one of Anet's strengths but they can NEVER actually show it.

This, it's mmo communities in general as they want the most braindead content to do, as being gated and having to put any thought in what they're doing makes feel excluded and we can't have anyone feeling not included these days.
Everyone has to win that participation trophy. It's an absolute cancer in the entire industry.

I once suggested in the Anet forums that they revamp early game world bosses to be more challenging so players learn the mechanics and aren't completely inept when the endgame comes and people told me I was moronic.

I hate how Guild Wars 2 got memed into being a "budget friendly MMO" when it is far from that.

WoW: buy the final expansion, buy a sub, congratulations, you have access to 100% of the game

FFXIV: buy the final expansion, buy a sub, congratulations, you have access to 100% of the game

Guild Wars 2: buy the final expansion, buy every single other expansion ever released (at least they release bundles with a slight discount, goyim) and presto... you have access to 90% of the game. The other 10% are stuck behind dozens and dozens of microtransactions. Oh but if you grind for years and refrain from buying LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE during all these years, you can eventually buy everything with in-game currency, and there's also no sub fee so it's A-ok amirite?

I'm sure that for a hardcore player that actually plays Guild Wars 2 religiously every month for years, it's better in the long run. But for the average player that tries the game for 2-3 months and figures it's not for them, it's so much worse it's not even funny. Kudos for them for figuring out such a brilliant predatory monetization system, but FRICK the players (and especially Ganker) for falling for it and shilling this garbage.

No frick that shitty game. I already bought 3 expansions and many microtransactions to get access to the raids that everyone else was doing, if I want to get back into the game I need to buy ANOTHER expansion.

It is easily the most cancerous monetization system ever and I am not going to indulge in it.

Oh and it has the worst class fantasy I've ever seen in my life. Feels more like an action fighter than a MMORPG. Tying skills to weapons was an awful idea because players don't feel attached to their characters, they don't feel like they built their character from the ground. Forcing people to put skill points in the character from level 1 to 80 is necessary for the illusion of customization.

That's less than the latest WoW expansion, let alone the monthly fee. Remember that WoW fricking charged people 20 bucks extra to play the latest expac a week in advance.
      >you have access to 90% of the game. The other 10% are stuck behind dozens and dozens of microtransactions

Make no mistake, it's the best part because the devs haven't been shitting it up for 12 years like they did the PvE.
It's still got the alpine borderlands from 2012 ffs, they added two maps in twelve years and of them one is abandoned and one is globally reviled.

        neither
it was a very unique experience
PvP was like a card game, with netdecking and metagaming and counterpicking your "deck" of skills that you'd bring, but then with team-based MMORPG combat involving line of sight and global cooldowns and such
PvE was just this unique experience where you'd stack a deck full of broken PvE interactions that made you and your party unstoppable against whatever you were planning on farming/fighting, and the loot system just really made you feel like you were getting rich and finding amazing treasures, despite most of those items being very homogenized stat-wise due to how they interacted with PvP, so most of it was just cosmetic to flex like GW2 but still unique enough to make farming things and getting rare drops feel amazing

Needs another long timeskip, and to pretend the story of GW2 doesn't exist.

Neither. It was uniquely its own thing.
It avoids being a numbers game, and is very tight on tactics.
The level up system was merely a formality, and there isn't a gear treadmill. Instead, the growth from Lv.1-20 was just a way to ease you into customizing your attributes and skill slots. Your dude gets eight skills to equip and you gotta make them count. You can swap skills and adjust your class attributes whenever you're in one of the safe zones, and you often need to mix things up to best tackle whatever area you're going into. There's a pretty hard cap on gear stats and the hunt for unique gear and new hidden skills is for the sake of finding the best tools to synergize with your loadout of attributes/skills.

Your initial playthrough/"tutorial" were a series of longform missions that took place across a long series of instanced zones wherein you traveled across the world. It then opens up in the desert area once you unlock the dual-classing Ascension.

Honestly don't see how you could improve GW1's combat system. It was fantastic and still my favorite to this day. A lot of that was due to mob design as well, packs of enemies would use the same skills players had and they had actual comps like Tank, Healers and DPS with frontline and backline. Very well designed all around.

It certainly was like that back when I played, but that was in the very early days. I had a bunch of characters and I used multiple builds on every single one of them, often having them specialized down to the area or dungeon I was going to play since some things were extremely good in some places but got utterly wrecked by monsters in others.

he's just referring to meta, which to be fair has gone through 10+ years of refinement
there are still plenty of builds that work if you're not trying to speed clear the absolute endgame

          Anonymous

Because it hasn't gotten updates in a long time so people figured out all the best builds for the current state of the game many years ago.
In all seriousness you can play tons of different builds for every profession (Paragon excluded because most of that profession is garbage*), he's just referring to the optimal/meta builds.

*Paragon is bad because it's a buffing-oriented class, but buffs in Guild Wars were mainly enchantment spells, which were balanced by enchantment removal. Paragon's buffs are chants, shouts, refrains, and echoes - all of which are unremovable. So if they were strong like enchantments, they'd be broken because they'd be missing enchantments' counter. But if they were weak, they'd be inferior to enchantments anyways and not really worth taking. The result is that most Paragon skills are very weak, but a small handful of them are broken overpowered, to the effect that Paragon basically just has a small set of variations on one build - and that build is the most broken overpowered build in the game. But everything else for that profession is shit.

Every other profession has lots of decent builds and a few meta builds.

Most Paragon skills are still very weak, but Imbagon never really had any great elite skills, so HR was basically a free (and broken overpowered) buff to an already overpowered build without making the rest of the profession better.

HR is basically a straight 20% boost to everything in your party - damage, healing, etc. It's like having an extra player and a half at all times.

GW2 was fine up until this most recent expansion. End of Dragons was great. The new expansion is trash, though. Hopefully they can turn it around with the next one, but I doubt it. They don't have anyone left on team who can make good raids/bosses after Cameron left, so I doubt a GW3 will be good unless they do some serious hiring.

GW2 was fun for about six months, but character progression just wasn’t a thing. You hit cap and the only thing you could do is grind for legendaries, which only offered negligible increases. Felt like you were grinding for nothing.

nah, they added a ascended gear which is fricking annoying because you need to waste gold on changing your stats every time anet decides to rebalance the game. I guess legendary armor fixes that, but I ain't grinding that crap.

It's not the narrative, it's the fact that almost all of the main story is voice acted by a different voice actor for each gender/race. The current crew at ANET has no idea what the frick is going on in the spagetti code of the core game or even some of the living worlds (remember, they had to completely redo LWS1 from the ground up, cut a bunch of stuff and simply reuse the assets just to make it playable).

Guild Wars 2 is one of the worst games I have ever played.
    Unironically, a non-game.
Gear doesn't matter. Levels don't matter.
It's just "doing stuff" for no purpose. You'd get the same experience doing Roblox or Second Life.
It's sad because Guild Wars 1 was a REALLY neat and fresh take on MMOs with a very interesting combat focuses on PvE that still had fun PvP.

      >Gear doesn't matter. Levels don't matter.
This homie is moronic. Not disagreeing that GW2 is inferior in nearly all ways to 1, but at least know what the frick you're talking about.

Gear absolutely matters, with the exception of PVP. That allows you to play competitively from the jump, which is what PVP should be; a fight based on skills and builds everyone has access to and a game mode where nobody has the upper hand because they have more time spent on gear. Unfortunately it's plagued with cheaters but I feel that design decision is sound. Then there's world vs world pvp, where gear does matter and affects gameplay. You go in there with some shitty green gear or something and lose your squad you're gonna get fricked.

It's one of the worst games you've ever played because you've clearly never played it. Or if you did, you did so long ago that your memory is scrambled. God damn your post is so stupid it has me defending fricking GUILD WARS 2, which I never thought I'd do, but your misinformed ass really triggered me.

The legendary grind isn't even necessary, it's something you do when you've run out of content. And they did make it easier to get ascended with the latest expansion; you can get several ascended armors and weapons from the battle pass.

    >All these illiterate fricks in this thread.
Just like in the first Guild Wars, the end game has always been PvP (and in 2; WvW). All the dungeons and story mode etc. are like an extended tutorial with fluff that introduces you to PvP content. The absolute biggest downfalls of the second game is that they somewhere along the line deviated from this into the shit heap that the game became.
    >Brain rotten uber casual to whom any form of organized content is too hard, or challenging.
    >WvW and PvP as game modes have been fricked since Heart of Thorns because they straight up were MOSTLY abandoned over living world and open world trash

The "fixes" came way too late, years even, even though they had been refusing people what they wanted, and even then, the fixes were half assed. If anything, I'd say its first expansion while underwhelming, it had its fair honeymoon period, but MMOs can't survive on that alone

    >why would you play a mmo solo?
Why not? Ofc I want to join groups or clans here and there but traveling through a big fantasy world by yourself is exciting, unfortunately a lot of mmos dont let you do that at some point which kills all the "unlimited big world with endless possibilities" vibe and reduces it to "look up a character build online and then learn your role to grind for shit with your clan" which is a hard pass for me

Straight from the developer as of 2023 regarding their newest expansion:
                >Unlike a Living World release, all owners of Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons will gain access to this content, meaning there’s no pressure to log in to unlock it and no gem cost for missed story chapter unlocks.

Based on what we've seen its a good thing that they're letting GW2 die. Maybe they won't frick up the 3rd game so much.

Heres the plot twist however: Gw2 was actually a half decent game at launch, all they needed to do was continue the game and expand upon it. But instead all they did was systematically ruin every aspect of gameplay by trying to control EVERY SINGLE MINUTE ASPECT of both PvP and PvE. Like stop right now and go look up a modern gw2 pvp video and look at all the janky shit they have to do JUST to play the fricking game normally.

I wouldn't even touch it unless they bring back dualclassing, but since it's nu-anet, I know full well that what they are interested in is DEI money, which means agender engineers and zooming in on b***hes kissing instead of making a game people would want to play for decades to come.

GW 1 will outlive every single one of those failed abortions. We've learned to eat ash and sleep in the fire.

As much as I cringe at the leftist garbage in the game, GW2 is a special game to me because it reminds me so much of 2006 Runescape. I can set my own goals, do whatever the frick I want and the gear upgrades are more of a luxury and about flaunting status than a must-have given how expensive and arduous the steps to make a legendary is like. At times, the combat feels like it's just press every fricking button for the best results, though.

      Anonymous

Yep, this is what keeps me playing too. And I take long breaks -- years at a time, sometimes -- only to come back and see that my character's ascended gear is still viable. It's nice to actually leave an MMO and not feel like you're playing catch up.

Yoshi P always talks about "take a break, come back when you feel like it. Play other games" when discussing XIV content and burnout. Meanwhile this homie puts in deteriorating instanced housing and vertical gear treadmill progression. In GW2... you can actually do it with very little ramifications.

For the bigger part of the game's lifespan, shit didn't even work. I still remember the game taking like 5 minutes to load everyone in and the other players looking like mannequins. Made WvW feel literally soulless. HoT and PoF were the peak of the game because they finally figured out what people want, only to completely frick up afterwards. Only mentally ill people still play GW2.

Sometimes I want to go back and push to finish that story at least but I feel like I missed my chance to fight the "true" final boss. They nerfed it I believe.

                Anonymous

They did, unfortunately. Multiple times. But while Dragon's End was kino at launch when you beat it, the fact was that the odds were really, really stacked against you. The average GW2 player is terrible, and keep in mind it was an open world boss, meaning you were forced into a 50 man party with them. Didn't matter if you were doing 2k dps, kicking was impossible.

I remember the "top" streamers like Mukluk being so dejected because he had failed it like 30 times. Then the biggest (???) streamer for GW2, Teapot, came into his stream and basically said git gud, meanwhile this dude's guild was literally using their fame to get players to join them in "fake" parties so that they could get all of their guild in a server. Basically funneling the shitters into a different server under false pretenses so the competent guildies could get in. It was wild.

Getting my turtle before 90% of streamers is probably still my crowning achievement in this shitty game. Hopping on it and simply saying "lol" around people caused so much seethe it was unreal. Ultimately though it was good they nerfed it, nobody would've run that shit after a single clear because it was just that aggravating and the risk/reward wasn't there (its like a 1 hour meta)

You have to be joking surely, drizzlewood was where the story took a nosedive. The actual zone was fine in terms of the battlefield theme but the char were supposed to be in an active civil war with the frost legion taking huge swathes of the other warbands because they actually appeared strong etc and all we got was a skirmish in some woods. HoT is pretty good, decent difficulty spike and cool vertical maps.
PoF is okay, worth getting for the mounts alone though.
EoD is absolute trash in literally every aspect other than a few elite specs.
SOTO is still in progress and its not great, but slightly better than EoD.

I had no issues with Elonians on release of Nightfall and the action taking place in the middle of not-Africa and then middle-east didn't bother me either because it was done well and they didn't shove it in your throat for some sort of political brownie points. It was a different human culture with its own history and issues, at no point was it shown to be better or worse than Krytans or Ascalon. Today Nightfall would have been the fricking Wakanada and everyone else would be sucking their dick.

I know, I just tired of it all. Everything about Elonian these days are so tiresome. That and using Dunk/Takl/fat actor for years got real stale. Exactly what should happen to them.

you clearly didn't play GW1 on release when they forced you to do a PvP match to leave pre-searing, and the whole everything required in the Crystal Desert was teaching you how to play PvP game modes
it was always a PvP game first and PvE second, until they realized that didn't really work because the average gamer is a casual homosexual scared of competition

I absolutely did and a couple missions introducing mechanics common to PvP to prepare players if they felt like playing it really meant nothing because you could just create a pvp character immediately and start PvPing right away completely disregarding the story. It is incorect to claim that they never cared about PvE given that there was more PvE content than PvP content on release.

Making an mmo is a significantly more complex undertaking than making an indie fps. "If it were possible, it would exist' is a bad faith argument because there are limits to self publishing and the market has become too consolidated and investors too wary to throw their money at a new up and coming title, especially in a game development climate as volatile as that of today. And for its time, GW 1 had sold extremely well. It is disingenuous to grade the game sales of 2004-2006 by the standards of today. A game selling 100k copies back then was considered a success.

The frog GOD outlived Gw2's development cycle. With End of Dragons, the video kindly posted already, and the absolute flop of whatever the frick the mage expansion was, lol, lmao.

As for Gw3, without the true Arena Net, the game is going to be a zero-effort shitfest. Release Gw2 wasn't perfect, but you could tell the developers cared when looking at the seasonal events early in the game's life. The high-effort first Halloween event where Mad King Thorn burst out of the Lion's Arch statue. The Karka event, while experimental, had a giga-world boss with HP shared across servers. Perhaps if NCsoft hadn't dug their greedy hands into it, the game wouldn't have slowly lost its original devs and vision. Gw3 will be unironically soulless, because there is no dream, no vision. Only an IP being milked by interns and NCsoft.

This greentext forgot an important detail. Scarlet graduated ALL THREE ASURAN COLLAGES. You may ask yourself, why is that a big deal? Most Asura struggle to make it through ONE.

As for what she wanted, she wanted to wake up dad (dragon((barney*~~ to eat all the magic and vomit it back out. This would kill everyone and reset the world preventing magical calamity. The writers tried to justify her actions as "brave and heroic". An NPC makes mention of such in End of Dragons.

It's the only time in the story having lesbos at least makes some sense. The Sylvari don't procreate with each other and are born from the pale tree, and they're essentially just playing pretend human without understanding the context as to why things exist.

Marjory and Kasmeer being openly gay in a medieval(ish) setting is distracting and makes no sense in the wider context of the world. It's just a bunch of mentally ill troons with their self-insert virtue signaling characters.

I'm starting to think that whoever says shit like "Oh too bad you didn't fight hard enough" is a psy-op to make people more miserable in order to drive them towards greater emotional instability so that they would make more stupid decisions and have less of a chance of bouncing back and successfully maintaining their small communities in service of their hobbies and interests. A demoralization tactic to eliminate the very notion of passive resistance. Don't bother fighting, it's useless no matter what you do. Just submit. Be a good little goy.

Guild Wars seems like such a cool and unique setting but it's brought down by the biggest morons in the industry.

GW2 still has good booba and hot girl options. I just took these screencaps without even trying, took me like 30 seconds to find some baddies. Will GW3 have body types and uggo females? Everything points to yes; the last batch of women faces they released in GW2 were all uggo jungle asians, and slowly they've been dialing back on hot clothes.

Sadly GW2 has nothing worth spending my time on and if I wanted to dress up girls, I could do that in FFXIV, it has a much better system, not to mention mods.

        1 yike for you sir

It's the last mmo that still has any soul in it when it comes to developer attention to detail, like background characters recurring in seasonal events and responding with recognition to the player character if he had participated in the previous one. Calling it an mmo inferior to GW2 is hilarious, considering its faults.

Anyone using "soul" as an argument for their game immediately loses that argument, that shit is fricking whack. And imagine not citing the gameplay -- YOU KNOW, THE THING THAT SETS VIDEO GAMES APART FROM OTHER MEDIA -- as a reason for superiority over others in the genre, but rather "npcs remember you from last time (through text!)!" Embarrassing dude, you're making the gw2 gays look good and that's a hard feat.

The only way GW3 can be good is if it completely retcons GW2.
