what is the recent meme of saying that Evil Within is good? where did this come from? I've recently seen YouTube videos of this shit too in my recommended. So odd when not long ago everybody was shitting on it as uninspired and unbalanced. To be fair I think I see the second game get more praise which is encouraging but I've also heard it described and openworldish and lose all interest.

I think TEW1 is a decent janky ps3/x360 throwback, LOVED parts of it, but holy frick was it too long and overindulgent. TEW2 is surprisingly great even if it took too many western ideas and open world design, it's more tame but the better game. Both are worth a spin anon, love supporting japanese devs be it AA or AA especially ps2/ps3 era.

truly the google of game devs. you'd think they'd at least take the EA approach of sucking their IP dry before they discard it, but no, they buy something, get some mediocre results (if any) and then throw into the mass grave. based microsoft saving vidya by forcing devs to create original IPs

Unironically, with zero hyperbole whatsoever: this is because of the Fallout show being successful. Bethesda was asked to come up with a way to get a new Fallout game out before 2035 and this was their answer.

because i dont care how different bread from store 1 is compared to store 2 , its almost same , i dont care about shoe manufacturer 1 compared to shoe manufacturer 2 , theyre all same , but game studios make specific games that arent fungible , and sone i enjoy , and if the studio closes while IP is owned by someone else , it means i cant get more of that unique non fungible product

The entertainment industry shines on originality and creativity, not jsut being serviceable like msot other products. Expression is what makes videogames so appealing for many. There's a lot of people who can make a "good game" on a technical level, as is how A and above works, but that doens't mean the game is enjoyable to the same degree. That demands someone who udnerstands and wants to deliver something unique and unexpected to the player aswell as the skills to convey that in a way the consumer can understand, learn and adapt.
That's why so many big companies always have 1-3 "creative minds" supervising everything and creating identity, and why so many go to shit the moment they fire these people.

For msot products, being functional or serviceable is all you want, and anything on top is a welcome extra, but in entertainment that is the bare minimum and often not enough to succeed.
Games like Minecraft, Terraria, Dofo, souls games or your favourite vidya don't exists just because a company had to make money or because they were technical feats, they exist because someone fought for it and worked hard to make it a reality.

mikami is a fricking hack and nothing that was good about RE1/2 was his contribution to begin with

TEW1/2 fully exposed him for a shitter hack that he is and I fail to see why should anyone care about tango closing down.

It was a great game but it had a really undercooked main quest. They shoved open world activities into the main quest, that's how you know a bunch of missions got cut.

This is actually pretty sad, he wanted to quit tango for 8 years but stuck around purely out of a sense of responsibility towards his co-workers, he actually trained people to succeed him so the studio would survive without him and it got shut down anyway. Their last game wasn't even bad.

  30. 3 weeks ago
    Anonymous

I wonder if he knew it was coming. I found it odd that he left Tango just to form yet another studio shortly after.

      Anonymous

Not that odd, probably wasn't creatively fulfilling when owned by zenimax and that didn't really improve under MS. He said he wanted to leave a long time ago and that he never wanted to make another re4 clone but they obviously had to make money. It would be way more interesting for a developer to make games with a tiny indie team these days than being AAA and sucking the dick of a mega corp like MS.

    >shut it down
Could not have seen that coming.
