They own Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, Star Trek, TMNT, and I think CBS and Hasbro's properties, but all of that shit is so far past its prime that it's not even funny. They might have been worth something 25+ years ago.

Supposedly TMNT still makes almost ~800 million a year from collaborations and merch so that might be worth something. But yeah, Comedy Central and MTV are dead weight. CBS still has sports so maybe...? Would be funny if they made a Nick All Star + Playstation All Star shit game so we can laugh at them even harder.

I was like 12 years old and heavy into this clan/channel wars scene on b.net during the starcraft days, where we'd mass bot and try to fill "enemy" clans' channels with them so they couldn't join their own channels, and eventually if their operator left one of our bots would get ops and the channel would be ours. and there was this whole game of intrigue where we'd try to find out what the new channels each of the clans was making was and repeat the process. I was like a god to these people because I discovered an exploit and made my own bot that became infamous for being able to put 100+ accounts into all these channels when everyone else was using some older method that could only support the amount of accounts you manually created via the "spawn" function.

look at a daily chart and find the lowest and highest points in the past 2 or so years. Retail and market makers will want it to go as close to to the lowest point before the pump. But it won't go lower than the lowest low ($61) nor higher than the highest high ($100). That is the range. To break through $100 again Sony will need a miracle though because it has a double top there. Even if earnings are good $100 is the limit because retail and market makers don't think Sony are worth more than that, so that will be the point where hedge funds are gonna start piling up their short positions to make money by pushing it back to the $60's.

GDPR is a massive deal especially in Europe and they literally cannot delete your data upon request unless you use PSN. But they don't want to use PSN so now Sony has to invest in developing tools for that on a new backend. All the costs for this will be passed onto the users btw.

It's because PS5 sales have been absolutely tanking this year. It's appearing that the supply constraints exaggerated demand for playstation because it scared people into buying earlier than they normally would have. Now everyone who wants a PS5 bought one.

remember covid? remember the gpu mining craze?

It generally feels like that gaming has reached the hard limit when it comes to growth. There are not really new gamers anymore. Pretty much everyone who is ever going to consume video games is already consuming video games. Only way to have more traditional growth would be price cuts so that poorer people can afford to be gamers, but that is definitely not going to happen.

        Anonymous

        >It generally feels like that gaming has reached the hard limit when it comes to growth
nope, not yet. that won't happen until millennials start dying.
older generations didn't really grow up with gaming being as integral to their lives. they maybe went to arcades as kids, but that's it.
the millennial generation, and every generation since, has been gaming since childhood, and will continue gaming all throughout their lives.
ofc at some point we will reach saturation, and that point is when people at retirement homes start croaking while gaming on their pc/console/handheld/vr headset/whatever.

the reason we're seeing the market slow down now is because consoles suck ass, gpus are overpriced, and the switch is an obsolete pos that gets mogged by $200 androids.
oh, also we're in the middle of a recession, with rampant inflation, and people are broke.
once (if?) some of those issues start getting resolved, we'll see growth in the market again.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the quarterly. Helldivers 2 was an unexpected success for them. It should stem the loss from declining sales a bit. The lay offs should also technically improve their margins. I still expect the stock to decline though not by much.

Sony stock price action has very little to do with their gaming division though. Also, Sony isn't exactly a popular retail investor stock, it's almost entirely driven by institutional investors, not regular people who want to add some stocks to their retirement fund.
